it was deciphered awhile ago that the only way to get the date window correct was to do the dial like the gen. sandwich.. so I have been holding out for "it".. what it will be called (dunno).. like the Rocky Movies ~VIII.. ... just when you thought it was done.. I stated a couple of times that I was holding out for it.. weather I was believed is another story.,.. still we shall see what we shall see... I'll wait until posting the macs (DW) of the gen until I get the finished piece in... AC Lani

*with a southern drawl*........ It's laikkk Majiac.... Tag Link Chrono ...Chief AR coat.. I put my Tag Link C. next to my buddy's genuine once.. and the rep looked better.. it's the AR The rep Tag's have such beautiful dials .. like the genuine.. but are just frumpish because the glare from the crystal hides the dial..enter Chiefs AR .. since it is invisible it is not noticeable with strong hue.. so the dial just comes allllliivvvve.. especially the colours.. but see for yourself.. AC Lani

I just got word that the sandwich dial for my DSSD is completed and on it's way .. .. to get the date window correct the dial had to made in parts like the genuine.. it was supposed to be completed at the beginning of summer.. but you know how that goes.. not an anomaly with our hobby.... the He valve and other issues.. are not really bothering me.. but I held out for the proper date window.. as it is a little more detailed than just a "step window",.. hopefully it will be worth the wait.. I'll post up pics of the dial upon arrival.. AC Lani

I think I will get my DSSD coated.. the finished "sanwich" dial with the proper date window (like the gen) is on it's way to Hawaii a coated DSSD and bracelet AC Lani -
Tag needs an eta dw swap and with a chief AR is stunning Breitling would be grey definitely.. you can wear multiple strap colours on this one. Ebel..my choice would be the white dial.. Exp. II black dial is most accurate.. although the white is more to my liking the indices are silver grey and not black like the gen. but may I add another to the mix: Vascheron Constantin Over Seas .. the design is siccccccc the bracelet.. and bezel is da bomb !!.. good for semi casual and dressy with the white dial.. let me take some pics of my Tag Link blue dial with chiefs AR .. the dial POPS with chiefs AR AC Lani

Lanikai's newest addition...PVD 202A...
lanikai replied to RWG Technical's topic in The Panerai Area
Superb Zig !!!!! I didn't expect anything less.. but looking at the finished product, I still am without the proper words ..and the turn around was at light speed ! and what timing .. my frogman strap is on the way this week.. and once I get the panerai PVD buckle back it will go to V for his costumed Pav strap !! The PVD finish is the same as the genuine.. in more ways than just verbally I've cannibalized my other PVD watches due to poor PVD coat, or CG issues or a lack of a proper dial.. after 3 years .. this is the best and only PVD Pam that I will own..(maybe.. after ZM's OEM coating who knows?) Of course the parts has a history with RWG.. But this is beyond my expectations !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The genuine OEM crown... is from kruzer.. the last one he had from his acquisition of a watch smith that closed shop.. and he was in Greece for a wedding when he was communicating my request for a PVD crown, (with a bit too much Ouzo the night before) .. that I knew I could use later.. so after 3 years or so.. it has been made to fit without tricks or treats by ZM.. the CG is V's custom made work.. just before the birth of his Son..over a year ago.. and had to be custom fitted by ZM.. the case was gifted by a great friend (one of the duo's) on conference calls from Colorado .. it is a gorgeous block case that he was going to use for the same project.. but told me he wanted to see me have it instead.. what can I say Ubi !! the dial of course from Fishgodeep, his last one.... a real gentleman to deal with ... the case back was from a DSN 202a that I gifted to the same friend whose responsible for the Case ..and sent it back to me for the project... the 6497 eta movement is from the same 202a that the case back came from .. the Panerai buckle that was PVD is also from Colorado . !! So the support continues.. as is the RWG way Permission to use your genuine pic Ziggy ?.. (if I don't get them mixed up ).. for a pictorial later.. the images really have to be taken in low indirect lighting to get the true visual of the PVD without light bouncing of the finish..I' try to capture that .. to give this piece it's justice... this will rival my Blacksteel DCL me thinks... Thank you to the Master of Horology !!!! and all youz guy's that made this happen.. and to the bestest Fora on the Net ... Bar None -

Eye Candy Macs ~ Avenger Seawolf
lanikai replied to lanikai's topic in The Two R's Watch Reviews - Lani & Ubi
Thank you RR.. these were taken with a Nikor 60mm and Sigma 105mm macro...I'mnot a "photog" .. I actually just started the photography for the watches.. I had just gotten my D60 not too long before these were taken at the beginning of the year.. they are too bright as I would do it more like this now I used studio lights for this.. no light box.. just covers on the lamps.. I don't know all the language behind photo shoots as believe it or not I never read any books on how to ... just kinda try and get better with more repetitions .. practice and a lot of watches... I like to play with natural lighting like this and this with natural lighting IMO.. the key to good macro's is manual focusing.. you will not get the same with auto mode (camera) and auto focus (lens)..so everything I do in macro is manual settings and focus.. which is why I take so long.. out of 70 to 100 pics I could get maybe 10 pics that I am happy with.. Manual settings since I'm not a pro.. is ad lib.. so this is a manual mac shot and then cropped to this manual.. i could not take this shot using auto focus...this is a .25 sec exposure.. the 60mm lens let's you get right up to the subject.. 105mm is more for landscape and wider area's ..it's.. the 60mm is more challenging to focus.. for me.. there are many Professionals here .. this is just a hobby for my watches.. once you get into it.. it can be just as addicting as watch collecting.. in fact I think here they go hand in hand.
