I don't beleive it has anything to do with the buyer nor the seller
the postal service is getting strung out with lack of manpower and security within the system could be affected
it took almost 3weeks for a priority parcel to arrive from within Conus
I would not look upon this as a "fault"of any individual but rather the bad issues within our system these days
It would be nice if federal emlyees were totally honest
but we are dealing with human nature
Sorry for your loss though
I hope that does not reflect on our hobby as a whole

the broken lume from the Hour hand will be cleaned up, the movement is keeping excellent time so for now I'd like to get some wrist time, sooner or later I'll get it looked at .. the quick date function is not working, but as Nanuq states.. I am going to leave it be.. for me these timepieces tell a story with it's battle scars..

With so many choices and different personalities and likes and dislikes..imo, you really have to take a look at a lot of brands to decide on what you'll wear on your wrist.. what may appeal me may not grab you like it does my eye.
Take a look at this thread that was posted by a member asking "what is a good collection" and you may find one that shouts out ..
A collection of different brands is fun and realistic given the pricing of the genuine ... click below

Here is the bezel on mine...jack at iww did a relum so who knows but would hope he would keep it true....
the font on the bezel is definitely different.. the parts as Arthur and Nanuq have stated are very eclectic .. but still a beauty no matter ..
thanks for the pic Chris

This is my buddy I referred to RWG! We met when I noticed a really sharp gen he had been wearing around work. Hopefully he shares some pics of these beauties!
Glad to see you got it man, you won't be disappointed, I cant wait to see it! MR is great, I was emailing him today myself. Great choice on both watch and dealer, exactly what I would've done. Next time I see you I'll be back from NYC with a new piece of jewlery myself... A ring.
Is it "Time" P4 ?? has the blessed day come when you finally do the right thing ??.. oops forgot .. this is not an Hawaiian style wedding.. (baby first)..
congrats to the first time buyer and to P4 !!!

Black dot or lume dot, either way a beautiful pickup.
Congrats man....
thanks P !!
what does the bezel look like on your US Divers.. out of curiosity ??
As Nanuq said in a long ago thread.. Doxa's are not as rigid as some other watch forums directives..or something along those lines.
I've come to really love the mangled crystal.. as Uncle Nanuq has.. it certainly adds character to the watch.
Me th9nkds we needs another "Doxa LLove" thread.. since our numbers are growing.. now I can rest with a somewhat decent collection.. and leave the Black Lung to Our Doxa mentor and DJ's (Doxa Jedi's).. Nanuq and Arthur..

Apparently the previous owner or owners were miffed by the colour too.. I received it looking like this
But this exist under the black paint
And this is a pic of the bezel from Dr. Pete's book
So go figure.. I suppose with Doxa there could have been variations along the way and watches sent to the service center etc.
either way .. it is still nestled nicely upon ma wrist

Thanks for the wonderful advice. Would it make sense if I made a sorta menu for the week and stick to it? If yes, how do I go about this? Best to consult a pro?
Do not whatever you do just not eat.. or just eat less of the same food stuff.. the body will absolutely go into "survival mode".. you may loose some weight in the beginning but that will be just water.. you need to think of it as changing 'habits" and in the long term the way you think of food.. snacks being the worst.. beer is not a bad thing.. but not out of the bottle.. there is 30lbs of carbonation in the bottle.. it will stretch your stomach ergo make you hungrier.
traveling is not a huge problem.. get some protein shakes that are bottled.. muscle milk is a good one.. the dietary stuff has too much sugar.. affecting your blood sugar level,, and as a result your appetite. stay away from that crap..
go on line and google "Ultimate Nutrition Gold".. it is pure whey protein and does not contain the fillers and sugars of other protein.. I buy it buy the 10lb bag.. it will curb your appetite and give you the the protein needed so your body will burn fat .. fat is our source for energy (fuel) and without a planned diet (meals) you body will go into muscle for fuel..
your mindset need to rethink food.. when you order dinner.. chicken breast.. steak.. no gravy.... potato "dry" or with yogurt instead of sour cream..toast is dry.. diary products are out.. diet sodas..crystal light.... lemon with water..
You don't need a personal trainer .. if you are disciplined and stick to your "goal".. a trainer cannot watch what you eat.. discipline is a MOF when dieting.. make short goals.. don't look beyond the day just yet..
Remember it is a lifestyle change and not starvation.. you will falter.. don't beat yourself up.. just get back on track..
Simple carbs are a must.. without them you will get too tired and the brain needs fuel too..
write down what you eat in a normal day.. pm me the list.. we'll go from there..
it helps to have a sounding board..
so let's get you "started"

Actually .. I would not have know there was still lume there had I not applied ink to it before seeing the pic in the book.. all I wanted to do was get it to plain metal..

Here's a pic of the bezel from 'Da book'
whist removing the black colour from the bezel.. a very nice surprise took place.. apparently someone coloured the marker to either match the silver in the rest of the bezel.. or whatever..but taking a toothpick that was soaked in water to shred the tip.. it turned out the old lume was hidden under some previous paint..
Pic of the original colour
A nice surprise..

congrats!! There are just some days when this watch is perfect to put on...What did you use for the bezel? I've heard everything from crayons to acrylic paint..Yours looks great..I'm so confused about the lum,,part of me says leave it....
Thanks you DL and Chris
the lume on the dial will be left alone.. the black (india ink) I used on the pearl may be stripped to bare metal since it is lumed.. I'll leave everything as is on the dial.. except, removal of the loose lume that detached from the hour hand, I like the historical look of the wear, so I decided not to do a thing with the crystal.. I did take a dremel to it for some time just to dull the scratches down a bit.. but it matches the over all look just to leave it be me thinks.
for the bezel the black was done with a permanent marker and the excess wiped away with my thumb before it dried.. same with the orange .. I used acrylic paint for the orange, and a fine brush.. blotted the numerals and then swiped my finger over the numeral .. I also use a toothpick.. I just ran the toothpick horizontally over the numeral with some paint on i.. wipe you finger over it, the paint in the recessed area stay's put and the excess paint just wipes right off.
with the marker and the paint just dab the numeral or ticks and wipe over it with a napkin or finger.. easy.. as the recessed area hold the ink and paint.. I had to do it several times since the bezel is worn down so the depth of the recess is not as much as a bezel in better condition..
-
some pics of the finished bezel.. although the lower pearl should be lumed, if I'm not mistaken it's all good

When dieting it is more a change of habits and in someways your "lifestyle" of what you are accustomed to
not just what you eat but the mind set behind the food
your looking at changing habits for the long term more than just loosimg weight
oatmeal is best in the am good varna for the day and also a good fat burner
fills you up too

What is a good collection :)

Arthur you are spot on
I consider myself a hobbyist in reps not so much a collector
I do consider my Doxa watches a collection but as reps they are simply what pleases me and my mood will change from month to month
I loved to write with fountain pens so I have an assortment of the older thin lined fountains
my friend has a collection of numbered pens that are made for anything but writting
but back on point
it is as Arthur states.... What brings you joy
it's ok to step out of the box...oversized or standard size
sport watch or whatever
do what makes it pleasurable for you
