Violation of rules, postings of watches that have passed through Vac's hands must include "lume shot".
Sorry.
By the time I got my point and shoot to focus it had been over a minute. Only charged it in direct sunlight for about 10 seconds. In another minute the UPO is nearly completely dark. Last night the lume lasted for hours on my PAM250.
Im thinking it is useless considering once I was touring a paper mill and I hit my PAM on a very sharp metal rod while I was walking and it didnt leave a mark!Might be pointless on a sapphire, but I'm paranoid. More protection is better than less. I'm sure on mineral glass and plexi it would be needed. Doesn't cost me anything since I install the stuff on cars and have it laying around.
Here's a video of it for it's intended purpose of paint protection:
But I put this stuff on everything like cell phones so the screen doesn't get scratched. The stuff has a little "grip" to it too, so I put it on the bottom of my calculator so it doesn't slide when I key in numbers.

he scratch protector is 8 mil thick urethane. same stuff used to protect helicopter blades and the front of cars. i'm paranoid about the sapphire and put it on. anything that makes it through this stuff will just shatter the sapphire. it's tough. makes me feel better when I hit my watch on my desk.

Picked this up from a RG member. PAM250 Daylight with A7750, vac modded crown guard/pin and vac super lumed!
I wanted a 196, but I couldn't pass this up. Of course, the day I buy this about 3 nice 196s go up for sale, but not as nice as vac-modded 250!
Sorry if the sapphire looks dusty or milky, I put a scratch protector on the crystal. The milkiness dries out after a day or two.
The panatime black croc strap came today and is already on it. I also got the SS bracelet and rubber strap. Boy that SS bracelet adds some weight!

you know me ken, I have no problem with paying for something nice. I was just giving this a try before I buy a less than reliable seconds at six. even if this is overly small I don't mind. the two tone doesn't look right on me. Silix's site hasn't been updated yet. I got what I ordered in a timely fashion. No regrets. SS is more me, but the TT is so pretty.
I'll get some dimensions of this tomorrow. Just guessing the bracelet isn't more thab 3/8".
-
this one is significantly smaller than the ym especially side to side.
-
They look so large in the photos! LOL.
Picked up a few watches on sale from silix and was just shocked at how small the Daytona is. So glad I didn't buy a $300 rep!!! I'd be crying.

I thought it was a mistake and not common place. A funny West to East problem like Monarch Rolfy Gelena Shitinerand.
-
Wow, you're stupid.
I didn't make it, I just found it and thought it was funny.
-
I guess it is common. I never noticed it before I ran across that.
I even found this: http://elginwatches.org/help/roman_IIII.html
I still don't like it. IIII isn't as easily readable as IV.

(PA)nerai luminor (M)arina
is my guess
That was my second thought. First thought was Panerai Automatic Movement, but then I realized some are hand wind.
-
I'm still trying to find out why they're called PAMs.
-
If at least to isolate where the problem might be.
Yes, I think the problem is my growing waistline. Maybe I should start taking my UPO for a walk. Do us both some good. LOL.
-
Date wheel is way too low to be 7753. It's an A7750.
-
Just an update, after a good manual winding and 3 days of regular wear, I set it down and it had a 36 hour power reserve. Wound it back up and haven't had a problem since. I guess I'm more sedentary than I thought.

This thread claims some of the new ones have double AR: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=99891

And for those who are lusting after a 196 I will most likely sell or auction it in the next few week with a chunk of the proceeds going to RWG so stay tuned. No need to PM though as it will be publicly offered.
Great, now I have to keep hitting the refresh checking the for sale sections for the next few weeks.
-
Good to hear I don't have to worry about it exploding. I have grown so fond of this watch over the past 3 or so weeks. I may have to name my first child UPO.
-
I wasn't sure if normal wearing would charge it enough or not. Not that I've given it a good wind we'll see what happens. My last self-winding watch was in 3rd grade (as I recall, normal wear would charge it about 2 days - I was fascinated by how long it would take to die).
-
How long does the watch run with a full wind? i.e. slowly and very carefully manually winding at around 40 turns?
I haven't tested it. I guess I could try that.
I'm trying to screw and unscrew the crown as little as possible until I get the funds to send it away to be modded with a gen crown/tube (and relume hands/dial/pearl).

Bought a UPO from a RG member a few weeks back. It was a week old from Sead. Beautiful watch, couldn't be happier, but the power reserve on this thing sucks.
Granted, I'm not the most active person most days. How much winding could 8 hours of typing really give my UPO? So far in the past 3 weeks it's died over night about 3 times. If I don't wear it late and put it on early in the morning it will die. Today I forgot to put it on until just now, and it died at 8:40 am (I wore it until 6 pm or so last night).
Is it time to get it serviced or is this normal?

As a sign shop owner.....be careful of making bootleg stickers. Lots of companies go after that (especially Harley-Davidson).

The Zigmeister explains about the very carefully planned friction and oils relation to it in his faq about the a7750. I would link it but i'm posting from my phone.
