  1. BTW... Just a guess, but does the movement look strange to you because of the finish brushing on the bridges and rotor (or rather, what appears to be the lack of finish/brushing)? That's one thing that looked odd to me... But the pic is just so over exposed that you can't see the brushing. At least on my screen... But if I tip at just the right angle, I can see it present...
  2. Dial and crown are legit. Crystal is not the superdomed Tropic, but rather the later version. Lugs and CG's are fine.
  3. Since the 1520 in the 5513 is not a Chronometer Certified movement, it does not have the freesprung balance. Cray... Thank you thewightstuff also has a very good eye for these things. **Edited to correct; just found revised comments I made in my note book
  4. Interesting... Angus' version has the smaller pattern waffle dial (older style). I wonder if there are plans to continue offering this older style dial with the Secs @ 12:00 variant? Would be neat to have your choice of old or new dials...
  5. '99 to present... No variations that I am aware of as production would be all in-house. The only variation that I know of is the fat minute hand on LV's...
  6. For dressy occassions, I'll wear one of these three: ...though I do find that Sport Rolex also work well
  7. Datewheels are in prog... Arch has done some last minute tweaks to the file, and they will be cut (or are already cut) and will be on their way to me once complete...
  8. Chief- You are correct... Hands are genuine. There is no doubt about that. Rolex used hands from several different sources, as they did with dials, so there may be variation from one watch to another.
  9. 3. 4. 5. ?? What do you guys say? I have my mind made up on these points... But let's hear your guys' thoughts
  10. Gorgeous straps rich with age and history. Absolutely beautiful...
  11. Okay... Here are the first two... 1. dial- Genuine luminova RSC replacement 2. crown -Genuine
  12. Keep in mind the details... 1. dial 2. crown 3. crown guards 4. insert and bezel 5. lugs Draw your own conclusions...
  13. Beautifully done. The parts content alone is very impressive! Enjoy that gorgeous 1680...
  14. At the last moment, I opted to go with the ol' favorite...
  15. Good stuff, Flo! Happy New Year, buddy!
  16. Mmmmm... Rose Gold. Perhaps this will have to be an upcoming project for me... Except in 18k solid gold...
  17. Chronomat PM'd me with some details- And after taking a step back and giving all the elements of the equation some thought, it makes sense. The watch has a 6.7M serial, putting production around '80/'81. This is period correct for the crystal style, the tube etc. OOPS! Have to edit here... I just went aand re-read chronomat's PM; his serial and case verification was on his 16550, and NOT his 5513. Sorry for the mis-understanding... A fault of my own as I only briefly scanned over his PM (sorry about that).
  18. Of course, the easy answer is to validate at an RSC. They'll check the s/n against the movement s/n, etc. Should there be problems with this watch, hopefully there is recourse with the seller...
  19. The crown looks to be original. The era for this style crown (702) fits right in line with a 5513 with a 6.7M s/n (1980 - 1981); 703's weren't intro'd until '84-ish if I recall correct. The crystal is a genuine current RSC replacement; dial and hands look to be correct for this period of watch. The case, on the other hand and in relation to the existing parts, looks to be a bit too new for the age of the watch.
