  1. Looks like a little extra paint on the bezel surface. You can probably remove it with little effort using a cape cod...
  2. I've never met nfs060 (I don't think), but from the sounds of it, I like him already!!
  3. Very interesting find, Bill. Thanks for reporting... This could be a nice alternative to those who have had problems with the vintage bars...
  4. I did that the first day I had both in hand... It was fun, but also got some funny looks from people in the office
  5. Apparently, after discussing a bit with my friend the other day, the 20B is still strapped on the pallet sitting next to the car. I asked him if he was ever going to get it done... He said maybe some day, if he ever gets the time (he's only home 10 days a month or so)...
  6. Well, I don't need two, per se... But having the choice between the black dial or white dial every morning is always fun
  7. Case is rep; bracelet is rep, but very well done (note the ref# and engravings, etc). Clasp is of the correct type and appearance (not a YM 16622 clasp- Those have the entire fliplock polished). Bezel is rep, pushers are rep, crown is gen, tube is aftermarket. Dial looks to be refinish on a genuine base (common and not hard to find in black). Crystal is rep. One thing you guys will have to find is a set of hands (the auction doesn't appear to include them). Those could set you back as much as $300 (that's what I paid for my last set of genuine hands). Good luck you guys! If I didn't already have two of these, I'd be out there with you bidding!
  8. It should be interesting to see what this one ends up at... 6 days is a lot of time
  9. Great pics of a very nice watch. Very well done...
  10. Nice review! Interesting to see the difference in the new bracelet; looks like the old version is the one to have Either way, I am sure the watch looks great on the recipient's wrist... Regards, R
  11. A brief synopsis on vintage Daytonas... Paul's manual wind vintage Daytonas (6263, 6265, etc) are usually of the Venus bi-compax variety. Most other variations offer this movement as well (or Asian 7750). DW's manual wind vintage 6263/5's are the "Valjoux 23 copies" (not very reliable, and bi-compax. In truth these movements are unknown, and a complete mystery). To upgrade these movements, one could install a Swiss Valjoux 23; also a bi-compax, but very robust and reliable. A bit on the pricey side too. In addition, DW's can come equipped with the Venus, or an Asian 7750 with or without the winding rotor. Or... You could get a DW case kit for Valjoux 72. This is the most expensive route to take, but provides the ultimate in vintage Daytonas (genuine 6263's 6265's have Valjoux 72's reworked to Rolex spec caliber 727). Sorry for the brief write up; if I had more time, I could elaborate more. Hope this helps...
  12. MD- Looks fantastic!! The DJ franken is one of the best frankens to build- Straight forward, cost effective and looks great! I know you've been working on this for sometime now... And your patience and hard work has paid off. Enjoy your beauty Cheers, R
  13. Wow... Great review! LOTS of info... So much, I had to read twice to fully digest it all A great read, and interesting to see inside the case. Thanks for taking the time to put this together...
  14. Ahhh... 40mm. That explains the crown (I was thinking 44mm's...).
  15. Once, I saw a guy with a Casio calculator watch on
  16. The movement in mine was physically a drop in replacement. Only problem was with the hands... While the movement was out, a genuine tube and crown were also fitted. No adjustments needed for the pushers to line up...
  17. I'll be having some fun with this tonight...
  18. Maybe it's the pic... Or maybe it's just me... But that crown doesn't look too good...
  19. Woody... Just wait till you show him your 1680!
