  1. Cyclops position looks better on V.1; V.2 is too close to the edge of the crystal... Print quality looks better on V.2's dial than it does on V.1's... One can go back and forth for every detail...
  2. Old pic, but this one's back on my wrist again for stress testing (found a replacement noobmariner dial sitting in my box). Tomorrow will be back to the usual...
  3. No PM... At least that I recall. Also waiting to hear back on the status of the dial. We'll have to see if this one reaches fruition or not...
  4. Gorgeous.... Amazing to think about the true artistry that went into such a piece. Each part made by hand or with simple tools and machines... No CNC, no CAD... On a piece that has survived nearly a century, and will live for generations to come.
  5. Watermarking should be the responsibility of each individual posting their respective pictures (in my opinion). Since most use a 3rd party site for hosting, I am not sure that forum provided watermarking would scale... I've been meaning to do mine, but I'm just too lazy
  6. A common occurance, it seems. I had the same happen to me (pics stolen from the old RWG and used on eBay)...
  7. Was there ever any doubt that AstorLive sold GEN items?? No. Was there ever any doubt that AstorLive sold GEN items at FAIR prices? Yes. Even my most expensive source for GEN parts is less pricey than these guys. 2x T-127's at my cost is $60... Just to give an example.
  8. Haha... It's AstorLive... So, of course they're not going to show the dials in geat detail! What's even funnier is that most of the dials in the pictures are either upside down (the ones I suspect are the vintages), or missing indicies/bars/lume, etc. What's more, I believe there is a reason why the vintage dials are not shown... Who knows what kind of condition they are in. For gen dials, I'll stick with my usual sources. $13k is extremely steep...
  9. http://cgi.ebay.com/32-Vintage-Rolex-Watch...1QQcmdZViewItem Only $13k
  10. Oh yeah... I almost forgot... Reason #584 to buy vintage: No metal indicies for lume to fall out of
  11. Beautiful! That sucker glows like a torch!
  12. Haha... I though you guys might find this 'problem' (it's not really a huge deal) as amusing as I. This is the second noobmariner dial I've had this happen to; so for all you noob owners, just be aware that this could happen to you too Ziggy... Yes, indeed. Glad it had nothing to do with one of my EP Daytonas But! Don't get too relaxed yet... I bet you know what I'll be sending you next for some SL JTB... My son did indeed have fun shaking the little lume triangle around (he was trying to get it to fall into the datewindow) Sorry, gang... Not parting with this one yet. Actually, I took the opportunity of down time to work on refinishing the case and bracelet last night; it's looking better than ever, so it may be a while before I decide to pass this one on... Thanks for looking... Best, R
  13. Hmmmm... I dunno. This auction seems a little odd, but the seller (Watch-Co Australia) is legit.
  14. Ugh... Looking at the brighter side of things, I guess it's a good opportunity to get a relume in SL now...
  15. Good stuff. Glad to hear it was a simple fix
  16. Wish I could deliver better news Robi, but these are keepers for me. One of these Daytonas will go to my son someday... Whichever is his choice. The other will stay on my wrist
  17. Have a look here, Mr. D http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=12766
  18. It's a Daytona trifecta for me this weekend... Fri: Sat: Sun:
  19. Oh yeah... Also the hands are different.
  20. Haha... I had to rewrite my post as it didn't match what my brain was thinking...
  21. Please correct me if I'm wrong... The difference I believe is in the manner of which the minute counter subdial's output is shifted from 12:00 to 3:00. The Swiss 7753 is contained within a bridge with the datewheel integrated on top of it. The 7750 (either Asian or modified Swiss) has a different kind of bridge that simply fits on top of the movement, so the datewheel sits under this module (hence making the date appear 'sunken' or recessed in the date window on these models).
  22. Wowzers. Quite a lot of suggestions! Thanks, gang! A DSLR is quite tempting... And at some of the prices I've seen, more affordable than I realized. My wife already has a Canon A520 (which she kindly reminded me of last night), so getting another point and click doesn't really make sense. But... I bet I can justify a DSLR and a lens or two with her Anyways... I'm going to digest the recommendations from this thread and start doing some research. I may come knocking on some doors to ask more questions on specific recommendations (hope you guys don't mind) Thanks again! R
  23. I have this one; picked mine up from FF as I admired his work on it; I just had to have it! This one has a skeletonized ETA 2892 installed... Overhauled by Ziggy... One of my favorite pieces to look at Movement runs smooth as silk, and watching all the internal workings (escape, pallet... Even watching the mainspring tighten) is quite a lot of fun. The Constellation wears a bit thin, and at 36mm, it's a bit small (but works well as a dressy watch). Being a Genta design, it goes well with my other 'small' dress watches... Not sure if it helps any... Just my experience with a sort-of similar piece... Best, R
