  1. Those fools... It ain't gonna work at night! Bet their marketing geniuses never thunk about that! They also forgot to fit the minute repeater and perpetual calendar... Someone's gonna gt canned!
  2. It's technically not a sandwich dial as there is only a single plane on the dial, and the numerals/indicies are not cut all the way through. Rather, the indicies are slightly recessed and then filled with tritium and then coated with varnish on top (for the genuine that is). David's may be similar, though the pictures may not accurately reflect it.
  3. Nah... Dial swap is pretty easy to do. I can walk you through it, if you're wanting to give it a try. Since it's a base, you only have to deal with 2 hands, and since they're pretty large, they're easy to work with. When the time comes, just shoot me a PM. Is your old case also from David?
  4. As if I needed another watch... THIS one has to come along and make my jaw DROP! Watch funds are tapped... And I have too many existing projects still needing funding... Why must the good stuff always come at the least convenient of times?!
  5. The 'screws' are only small, flat, hex shaped metal discs with a slot in the center, and are glued into place in the bezel hole. If you can remove the bezel, you can probably drop some solvent onto the 'screw' head which should penetrate under the disc. I suggest doing this with the bezel off of the watch because you don't want the solvent to damage any of the gaskets or seals. Once you have the screw head off, it's simply a matter of gluing back into place with correct alignment...
  6. Damn... Very nice!! The finish on those movements is gorgeous! I see what you mean about the hand alignment with the 3:00 and 9:00 position on the new one though...
  7. When you're not wearing the watch, try experimenting with setting the case in different positions (e.g. dial up, dial down, crown left, right, etc). Some positions will cause your watch to run faster, slower, or dead on due to gravity, side load and so on. If you have your COSC certificate, it should list which positions your specific watch generates +/- as I believe they time the watch in the different positions over the course of their evaluation.
  8. David's pricing on these beauties is really quite amazing! The price I paid for his complete PVD'd watch was only slightly more than what the PVD job alone cost me on my old PAM001 from Jack.
  9. There was a 40mm PAM rep with base dial powered by an ETA 2836 offered roughly 2 years ago. There was also an RXW equivalent to that watch as well before the big MM20 hit the market (fitted with a screw down crown instead of the trademark Panerai crown guard). For what it's worth... The 7750 fitted in the PAM48/49/50/51 reps is not a terribly bad movement. Since the stopwatch functions have been removed, there is far less to go wrong.
  10. David- I think this is the one they are talking about? 5218-218/A? Quoted from 'risti... 5218-218/A 1996 Black Seal Goodness knows what happened with the Black Seal, but it was only ever produced for a total of 5 pieces. Rightfully claiming the crown of "rarest Panerai", this watch is a fairly regular 44mm PVD Luminor case, with a black dial and small seconds. The movement was the regular UT 6497.
  11. No, no... No Rolex king here Just one of the nuts in the nut house.
  12. Well, for a 6239 or 6240, a rivetted band would be correct (7205 with 71 end links). However, the 6263 and 6265 were theoretically released after the rivet bands were superceded by the folded link 7835 and heavy link 78350 thereafter. So... If you have a 6263/5, my advice would be to go folded link or heavy link Me? A showoff? Errrr... I suppose so Sorry 'bout that
  13. Hmmmmm.... This has me thinking... Anyone interested in a FOLEX Goobermariner? I'd LOVE to have one... Maybe purchase a couple to give as funny-ha-ha gifts to friends and the sort.
  14. A gorgeous pic! Very crisp and sharp, and the composition is great! I really like the floating effect... Good stuff!
  15. Agree... That Destro is indeed quite nice!
  16. Hmmmm... So, if I understand correctly, what you're saying then is that it's absolutely possible to commission some limited edition 'FOLEX' Goobermariner watches?
  17. Oops! Sorry Eddy... Dunno about the tobacco T's... But, maybe he'd be so inclined to make some for the forum?
  18. Heh... I had the same thought, actually, while I was inking in the dial. That may be a change that will be implemented in the next revision. I'm also looking for some silly hands to go with it. I have a few ideas....
  19. Last minute decision change for me...
  20. Here's how the dial looked prior to the changes; still living in it's old case...
  21. Haha... Thanks, gang. Had a bunch of parts left over and thought it would be fun to do something hokey like this. Was quick and easy to do... Think I spent all of 20 minutes doing the whole thing, including trimming down the dial to fit the case. I'll be tearing the watch down again to do a couple of small minor changes, and then it'll be done, and ready to collect dust
  22. Excellent watches as per usual, gang! Got some great taste on this forum...
