  1. There are some really flash Breitling (chrono evolution) right now, looks amazing in full gold, white face, brown strap.... gorgeous. I first encountered it when Narikaa posted some wristies and ever since then I've been hooked. It may just be the timepiece you're looking for! Don't forget, these Breitlings are very accurate to their original counterparts. There is also a lot of variety in both dial and strap configurations, even movement availability.

    Good luck!

Yes I have seen them and they are no doubt beautiful watches... but I was looking for something that is NOT A CHRONO ^_^

  2. A fair competent watchmaker could do it in a couple of minutes for say $10. To do it yourself, you need the Rolex caseback tool (duct tape isn't really an option, IMO) and a 1.2mm screw driver. Open the back, take out the crown/stem, remove the hold down tabs and out comes the movement. Clean the crystal and put the watch back together in reverse order. Gioarmani recently posted a tutorial in the Rolex section on modding the crown guards where he shows you how to remove the crown/stem, after that, reomving the tabs is idiot simple and there are other tutorials around here also showing you what to do- just keep reading and searching.

Finding a rep friendly watchmaker is certainly worth the time and effort, especially if you don't want to buy the tools. It'll also make this hobby more enjoyable if you keep buying watches.

Yeah I can't get this darn case back off to save the life of me... where can I get the tool?

  3. I have a black faced rollie daydate that all of a sudden has this "speck of something" on the crystal. I tried to get it off and it does not budge, so I am thinking it might be on the other side of the crystal. Because the watch is a black face the "speck" stands out like a sore thumb. Can someone walk me thru how to pop the crystal off or point me to were there might be directions?

  4. Well my Ultimate 111h arrived from Angus today... and I must have got lucky because I did not have any problems. The "L Swiss Made L" is there, the super lume appears to be nice and even, I charged it and took it in a dark room and it looks great

    Only one problem...

This is my first PAM and I'm not sure it is for me... I guess I will take a couple of days to decide... but I am going to be very careful with it in case I decide to sell it on the board here...

The watch looks FANTASTIC though... I just need to decide if it's for me

I will post pics later tonight!!! :D

  5. Man, I just ordered one from angus less than a week ago. I hope it doesn't have this problem. I will update when I receive mine then. BTW, so what r u planning to do with it? is he willing to refund the watch? and how long did u wait after ordered 'til it arrived? I am really curious for I might end up having the same problem. This is terrible.

    Good luck for you man.

I also order one from Angus about a week ago. After reading this thread I sent him an email asking him to check my watch. Here is his reply:

"I will definately check it, it was an accident, I will take care of him!

I believe this wont happen again.

Regarding the lume color, because the dial is relumed and the hands are lumed and the color will be a very slightly different, as my watch smith is not as skilful as the modders on the board.

I will check yours for sure!"

I will report back when I receive mine!!!

  6. Well after a long time I and much going back and forth I finally order my first PAM. I have bought many watches (Rolex, Omega, Tag, Breitling) from several dealers... but this is my first PAM and my first dealing with PT. I order a PAM 111H (Asian movement) with superlume and cannon pin fix (he has been out of stock for a while but just told me it is available) all for $288.00 USD shipped... which seems like a pretty good deal to me. I will post some pics when I get it... CAN'T wait

Next on my list is the rose gold 231 or rose gold black seal (still can't decide which to go for) from TTK!!!!

  7. Nice shine, Gio, but no amount of buffing will change the (cool) color tint of steel to match the (warm) color tint of gold. Nothing short of gold plating will do & I have not found a good source for that yet. This looks promising, but I do not see a white gold option listed.

I don't know... I went to the Rolex website to get a picture of the gen and mine looks pretty darn close..

Here is a pic of the gen

    dddp0.jpg

I need to dig out my camera and take a picture of mine... but the center links on mine look just like this as do the side ones... maybe it's something I can't see in the color without seeing the gen in person...

  8. Sorry for the problem. Have u got my reply yet? If not, please PM me ur email address. No doubt, it is our fault to ship three watches with defect to u, we failed on the QC. But we do have workers checking watches in the shop, although it is not me. We will address this QC problem seriously. But as I said, we will not have u sufferring from the problem. We will get the problem fixed, either through replacement or refund. Happy New Year!

Just wanted everyone to know that true to his word, Silix (Jay) and I have worked out an exchange (for a different watch). Despite all the problems he has been nothing but helpful through all of this. He is a professional and does care about service to his customers... thanks Jay!!! B)

  9. 197 and synthetic saphire is real saphire the only other sort comes in an an expencive ring form blue in colour and would make it a real expencive and not very usable watch with that as glass! The only issue here is that the wording synthetic has been used as a bit of a scam to sell watches with mineral glass.

    Synthetic Sapphire:

It is a very hard, transparent material made of crystallizing aluminum oxide at very high temperatures. Chemically, synthetic sapphire is the same as the natural sapphire used in jewelry, but without the coloring agents that give the gemstone its various hues.

When it is heated, the synthetic sapphire forms round masses that are sliced into pieces with diamond-coated saws. These disks are then ground and polished into watch crystals. (One reason sapphire crystals are relatively expensive is that the tools required to make them are costly.)

Sapphire (whether natural or synthetic) is one of the hardest substances on earth. It measures 9 on the Mohs scale, which is a system for rating the relative hardness of various materials. (Diamond measures 10, the highest rating.) Watch crystals made of synthetic sapphire are often marketed as "scratch resistant", meaning they are very difficult - but not impossible - to scratch. Diamond can scratch them; so can man-made materials that incorporate silicon carbide, which, with a Mohs rating of between 9 and 10, is, like diamond, harder than sapphire. These materials are sometimes used to make simulated-stone surfaces for furniture or walls. The watch wearer should note that accidentally scraping a sapphire crystal against such a surface could cause a scratch.

So in the case of our dealers when they say "synthetic sapphire" is that really mineral glass?

  10. Man this thread isnt good news for me. I bought a Navi World from him a couple weeks back and I wore it for 2 days and wham no more movement! I have contacted him to hopefully replace it for me, just kind of bummed.

One question, the asian movement, do they make a lot of noise every now and again or are they supposed to stay quiet???

Yes I am at the point where I am thinking to just ask Jay for a refund...

  11. Feta...I don't like either. :(

At first, I preferred the 197 because I think the 183 is a stunning watch, and this one in RG is perfect. I prefer base PAMs, but the 197 "called" to me more. But then I saw the engraving -- or utter lack of! Meh. The C
