Looking for some opinions... I want a nice yet simple dress watch and have narrowed it down to these 2:
This Pam 197 (8 days)
or
This Pam 231
Both are Rose Gold and have the Asian Unitas 6497 17J Manual Handwind Movement
Price seems to be good on both...
Opinions or comments in helping me choose???
Thanks
and Happy Holidays to everyone at RWG

ooo la la... is that the Swiss or Asian Unitas???

So way back in Sept/Oct when Jay put a special on the SFSO I decided to buy the white faced ETA. I placed my order and in less then a week she arrive... DOA. No matter what I did I could not get the second hand to move. "No biggie" I thought, so I just emailed Jay and he sent out a replacement right way (before he even got the defective one back), he is a true gentlemen. So the replacement arrived a view weeks later, and this time the second has was ticking... YES!!! But I soon noticed this it too had issues and I had to send it back to Jay. He sent yet another replacement, all looks good, but then I found yet more issues... On one hand I don't want to be too picky... on the other these things aren't cheap and I know that isn't suppose to be there.... thoughts???

I received an e-mail approx two moths ago from Angus, PureTime, about that very subject. He said to expect something in December. I haven't seen anything yet. Angus, if you see this could you give us an update?
"SOF"
I spoke to Josh via email about a month ago and he said that the gen had been purchased and the factories were working on it. He indicated a Q2 arrival in 2008...

I just called my local Brookstone here in Charlotte and they did not have the watch winders on sale. Maybe just in your area. Nice find though.
P
I confirmed with my store that the price is $49.99. Please let me know by the end of the week!
-
Any idea how loud the motor is ?
Well I have a single winder from the same store and it is about 4 feet from our bed and doesn't bother us...
-
So I was out shopping yesterday and at a Brookstone store they are running a special on duel watch winders. Regular $150.00 on sale for $49.99. I own a Brookstone single watch winder that currently holds my PO. I haven't worn that watch in a month but it is still ticking because it is on the winder
Anyway as a thank you to RWG if there is enough interest I will go pick some up for members and ship them CONUS for $10.00 more. I am going back to pick one up for me and one as a gift. So PM me and let me know. The description is below: Happy Holidays!!!

My usual guy left the business and now I am looking for a good watch smith who will deal with reps in the LA area. If you know of one please PM or email me.....or post the contact info here if you feel comfortable.
Thanks in advance,
Cy
Same question for me for the Boston area...

Saw over at RG that one of the members got one of Angus modded 111H with the Asian movement.
Another member asked this question upon seeing the movement:
"The regulator screw is not touching the dagger. Was it like this when you got it? I thought it was supposed to be a working swan neck regulator."
No one has posted a response. Is it suppose to be touching??? I guess I need help understanding what the SN reg does...
I want to order one from Angus but want to be sure there isn't a problem with the movement...

SO the I ordered a white ETA SFSO when Silix was running his deal. The first one I got was DOA. I sent him that one back and he shipped a replacement at the same time... got it today. This one actually runs, but the date changes over at 9pm instead of around midnight... thoughts???
-
Another dealer told me that the movement may not be an ETA and the AR is done externally how true is this.
thanks
Care to elaborate on this cib0rgman???
Still waiting for Jay to get back to me regarding my DOA white steelfish
-
check the picture above mate for a photo of the ETA?
Yeah I saw that but don't know how to tell the diff between the Swiss and the Asian other than the stamp... I'll try to post a pic of what's in my SFSO
-
which colour did u order??
white
-
I also took advantage of the Steelfish special and received mine yesterday the 22nd. I ordered it on the 16th and live in the US, California.
I cant tell if the crown has an o-ring on it. Can anyone verify if it does, it is hard to tell if there is one way back in the part that turns (crown?) . I want to wear the watch swimming but not diving.
I took off the back and there are no marks on the balance wheel( not sure on terminology) or the movement but it looks just like the one posted earlier . Overall it is a great looking watch and will look great with my gen blue rubber strap. I will also not be as weary wearing this as I am with my gen chrono Evolution.
BTW, thanks for the info on this site, I have been lurking for a while and am just now joining in.
Mine arrived DOA today
wound and wound the thing and the second hand never moved... I popped off the pack, can someone show me what the ETA stamp looks like??? I'm not sure I got an ETA because I can't see any kind of stamp
I guess I better email Jay...

Too bad the Luminor Marina and Panerai font are still clear white........
I could have lived with the not 100% 3, 6 and 9 fonts and even the L Swiss Made L too close to the 6, but the clear white font for an H-series dial is the obvious giveaway.
Does anyone offer a PAM that has the correct "off white" font? I have yet to see one which surprises me because the fix is relatively simple...

While the Blue Aquaracer looks good on the metal bracelet I am starting to wonder what it would look lik on a black or dark navy blue sharkskin or gator strap. Anyone try this yet and if so any pictures?
RaceMaster
I don't know about leather... but I posted some pics with my vlue Aquaracer on black rubber here

Thanks guys.....
FYI, the strap on the watch is a MP-XI Papaya Brown....Like a good bottle of wine, it gained complexity with age....
where did you pick up the beautiful strap???

Hey guys,
Is there a list of all the dealers (Trusty, Josh, Silix, PT, TTK, DSN, TWP, etc) who we believe drop ship vs actually check the watch? For example, i am pretty sure Josh and Trusty drop ship. Thanks!
-
Seems no one has stock due to cases not being available?
Does anyone know any dealers has a Swiss/ETA White faced SFSO with brown leather band?
Thanks
I spoke to one of the dealers who said that they spoke to the factory and should be restocked in November.
-
All the dealers seem to have the same dials except Davidsen. Some of his have the low crossbar of the A corrected but the rest of the dial, including font size & thickness, digit and marker size etc is totally wrong. The normal rep dial is a much better bet. Frequently his 'NEW & IMPROVED' versions are far worse than the previous offerings.
And I was just about to order DSN 111
-
Guess a completely inaccurate font does not bother you.
Then do any of our dealers provide a dial with "accurate" font?
-
The AR is not double-strong on my PAM 112. I feel it is PERFECT, and looks close to gen compared to the Risti members' photos I've seen during their Wristies.
I too have heard that the AR on DSN's Fiddy is different from the more yellow-muted tone on the gen ones. I just love the look of mine though. It's a domed watch, and the AR on it makes it look gen. It's hard to explain -- but it looks SMOOTHLY elegant with it.
Both of my DSNs are priceless to me.
So you have a DSN Fiddy and DSN 112 and are pleased with the AR on both? I am planning on getting a DSN 111, anyone comment on it's AR?
-
i have /had 4 watches from him - only 1 had a slight problem that was fixed with rivers springbars.
all of then have the extra quality feel - don't want to say genuine feel - but way better than other
stock Panerai Reps.
Frank
I have heard the DSN AR coating is too strong and if fact takes away from the watch b/c the gen doesn't have such a strong coat... is this true????

Hi folks
I'm looking for an PO small size (42mm) with an orange bezel and a orange lether band, and with a deployant... can't find it at any of our trusted dealers...
Any advice on where to find it?
I guess 4th generation is the best I can get for a 42mm model, am I correct? (yeah, I know, ultimate is better, Ultimate is bigger, by I suffer from small wrist syndrome, so I'm really sticking to 42mm, can't do more)
Thanks for your advice
I was told by one of our dealers once that the leather bands don't fit the 42mm very well... with that being said, I ended up buying an Orange 4th Gen PO from Josh w/ steel bracelet, and the only one who had the leather band I wanted that would fit the watch was Silix. The 4th Gen has 20mm lungs, Silix had this one for 22mm, so I emailed him and asked if he had one for a 20mm and he said yes. The spring bars he sent with it were a little short, but I just used the ones that came with the watch and it was all good. I have never seen an all orange leather band with deply, but this might work for you... i love mine

Yet another issue... bezel misaligned... unbelievable... 3rd watch that was supposedly QCed![](https://rwg.cc/datastore/emoticons/emoticons/default_mad.gif)
Does anyone have any idea if it is difficult to align the dial with the bezel... can one of our modders here do it. I really love the watch but all the problems with it is killing me!!!!!!!!
