This "new improved" movement is now being shown by several dealers in the IWC Portugese. Forum members have long dealt with the seconds at 6 problem of the older, less jeweled (27?, 21? can't remember) movement, stating the transfer gear allowing seconds at the 6 o'clock position had no jewel and thus no lubrication, which caused the failure of the seconds at 6 function. Does anyone know if this new movement will fix this problem?
Paul at PAM111.com
This site reappeared today when I checked my bookmarks. I've bought several watches from Paul under several different website names over the last 5 years. He had fallen out of favor with the rep community when last I looked. What are our members current feelings about Paul?
I have purchased reps for many years from Josh, Andrew, Paul, King, Silex, TWP,maybe some others, too. Josh has always been straight-up and more. He repaired 2 Pams for me, neither of which I had purchased from him, and at no cost other than shipping.
I own the PAM 231, which is red gold. I have worn it a bunch, and took care to wipe it off after each wearing. Then I noticed that the sharp edges of the crown looked silver, and over time, the plating on the sharp edge of the crown is gone. It's a disappointment. I like the watch very much. The plating on the rest of the piece still looks good and I wear it weekly. I vow to wind this watch while wearing a cotton glove when I finally get the crown re-plated.
As an aside, I have a B&R PVD from Josh, and the edge wear spots are loosing color and show the base silver colored material underneath the PVD coating. I also have Josh's Breitling Navitimer for three years and it is still running spot-on.
I have a PAM231 RG. A simple, clean and classically beautiful design. I have probably worn this watch 75 times. Although the case looks good as new, the crown does not. The fact that this is a manual winder seems to be a guarantee that the crown will wear on its knurled egde and show the base metal siver ss. It did and it does. Oh well. I still wear and love this watch, despite my disappointment.
I went with the Casablanca. I needed a smaller, thinner, dressier watch, and the members recommendations were the topper. It's on its way and should be here soon. As always, I am anxious.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen the casablanca chrono on Josh's site, and I want to buy from him to thank him for an enormous favor that he did for me. He fixed two Pams that I purchased from other dealers at no cost to me. Your new Casablanca chrono shots are great. My fear is that the watch will look like soap-on-a-rope-on-my-wrist. The models I have listed are smaller and thinner, about $250 cheaper!
I'm still undecided.
My PAM 231 RG seems to have lost plating on the crown from daily windings over the last three months. Any othere experiencing this? How can i fix this?
I have an older PAM 118 bought from Paul when he was abay. It has been repaired twice (stem won't engage to either wind the watch or move the hands). The problem persists. I believe that it needs a new movement, Who does this, and at what price?
I have the navitimer with the 7750b for about 9 months. Runs well and resets spot on, but it does not matter to me whether the slide rule is misaligned, because at 60 years of age, with my reading glasses on, I still can't see tose tiny numbers.
