Well, I had sent my SMP off to The Zigmeister for Service and re-lume with C3. I got it back the other day, and, well, I have to say that I am a little disappointed. I am disappointed that my genuine SMP's lume does not last as long as my replica's! Unfortunately, I did not get any before pics. Instead, I will use my un-touched Yacht Master as comparison. I can assure you, that prior to The Zigmeister working his magic on the watch, the Yacht Master glowed much more brightly and lasted at least 3 more hours then the original SMP lume. Here is a pic of the YM on the left, and the SMP on the right. Notice the pearl on the SMP. This was how the whole dial used to look like. This was 1 minute under a fluorescent light bulb: Now here is a pic of the YM, rep SMP, and gen SMP. You will notice that the 2 SMPs give off the exact same brightness: My camera was not good enough to capture the luminescence after 5 hours in a pitch black room. However, after 5 hours, I could still tell time with both SMPs (but not with the YM). The rep was just a tad brighter then the gen at this point. As for the work itself, I am absolutely amazed that this was done by hand. I just can't believe how good it looks. I tried to take some close up shots so you could see the quality of his work first hand: I am EXTREMLY happy with the way the watch has turned out. I would recommend Rob for any lume work you may need done. Thanks again The Zigmeister!!! Jim

I don't think so at all. I mean, I love my 10 year old Casio. It still keeps perfect time (gains one second every week). It's one of my favorite beaters!

Once you get the bezel off, you can get the insert out very easily without damaging it. What I do is take the whole bezel, and soak it in very hot water (not boiling) for about 2 minutes. After that, the insert pushes right out with very minimal force regardless if it is glued or taped. Jim

I am guessing that you are "hooheng" and trying to promote your site, but I could be wrong.

Hmmmmm, still working for me!

Didn’t you know? The Yard Master already does have special functions. That’s what the bezel markers are for. You just turn the bezel ring to the current height of your grass in centimeters, and it tells you how long it will take you to mow your yard!

I stumbled across this site. Thought I would post it here so you guys can have a little fun picking it apart. Enjoy! http://www.hooheng.com/catalog/index.php?c...SD&cPath=69 Jim

I just e-mailed this clown as well. Lets see what kind of response I get. Jim

Good call, I think you are correct!

Sorry to hear that your first rep buying experience is turning out soo badly. Just remember that the dealer is not really at fault here, DHL is. It’s their incompetence that lost the package, not the dealers. But, I do see where you are getting concerned when the dealer says he will replace it if lost, but then you get no correspondence. It is quite possible that you have not heard from him yet as he is trying to track down the package with DHL. I would give him some more time and see what happens. Jim (the guy from Craigslist!)

This is the inside of Andrews YM003, these pics are of mine, but hu12 and I got the exact same watch with in 3 days of each other: Jim

Ahh, I think you are describing something different then what I was witnessing. If you watch my video, you will see gear 420 snap back at gear 415. Jim

An update to this "problem". Just got a new Yachmaster with a 2836-2 in it. Did the same test to the 2836-2 and low and behold the 2836-2 does the same thing! Looks like this is just the normal operation of this movement (as some of you have already said). Odd that ETA would have 2 gears slamming into each other like that, but I guess it is what it is. Jim
-
Oh yeah, car salesmen fear me!
-
Yep, I agree, bet its the same movement as yours. I have not opened it just yet, as I am not sure what I am doing with this watch (its still in the plastic and everything right now). If you look on the bezel insert, right at the 23rd minute marker, you will see what looks like a spec of dirt. It's not. Its a chip in the finish on the bezel insert. Andrew has already been notified, and wanted me to send it back. I am a bit leery shipping this back to China, due to the more strict customs enforcment. I am waiting to see if he will send me a new bezel so I don't have to ship the watch. Once that is all figured out, I will snap some shots of the movement. Jim

Well my 2 month old daughter is being quite fussy this evening, so I do not have time to take any really good shots. But here are 2 quick ones: I will take some better ones hopefully tomorrow. Jim
-
hu12, Mine just arrived, so I will snap some shots of it tonight when I get home from work to compare to yours. Jim
-
Very interesting. Do you by chance know exactly what it was that broke? Jim
-
Good stuff! Who's 007 is that? I have a regular SMP from Andrew and am wondering if that insert will fit mine as well. By any chance did you get the inner and outer dimensions of the new insert? Jim
-
Good catch on the "yacht master" font. I didn't see that. When I get my YM003, I will post up some pics of it in this thread and we can look to see if there are any differences between yours and mine. By the way, how did you open the case? If you don't have a case opener, did you use the ball of duct tape trick? I just don't want to destroy the sticker on the case cover. Jim

Did you order the ROLYM001 or the ROLYM003? I love Andrew to death, so I am in no way trying to bash or flame him with what I am about to point out next. I spent about 20 minutes comparing the pictures from his site of the YM001 and the YM003 trying to justify spending the extra $10 for the YM003. The only difference the I could see cosmetically (mainly on the the dials), was at 6 o’clock where it has the “swiss made” mark. The YM001 has “SWISSMADE” (almost as if it is one word, like what you have) and the YM003 has “SWISS MADE” (two words). Here is his pic of the YM003: I was thinking that you may have ordered the YM003, but received the YM001, but the YM001 just has the plain gold colored movement. I am thinking that there must be slight variations since he last took his pics of the YM003. Either way, the watch you got is still a beauty, and I can’t wait to get my YM003! Jim

Very nice! Have you cracked open the case yet? This is the one with the decorated movement right? I would love to see some pics of that nickel plated ETA! Jim

You lucky bastard!! I am dying in anticipation over here for mine. But they say good things come to those who wait. Let me know when you get some pics of it, I would LOVE to see them. To the original poster---------sorry for hijacking your thread!! Jim
