Mine's a semi-bubbleback

Hi all, I would like to ask fellow members if they find their interest in watches to be 'seasonal'. I ask this because I have three main hobbies in my life. Fishing (I only fish in good warm weather) Classic cars, for which there is a definite 'season' and watches. Over the years I have settled into a routine and I find that as I can't (or don't want to) fish in the winter and the classic care scene cools down in the winter then I become watch obsessed during the winter months. Anybody else conduct their hobbies seasonally?

D. Thanks very much for this you have just saved me $218 - not that I could have got one anyway as Yuki is 'sold out'. The font is - for me not good, and the 's' not being flat outweigh the 110 spacing issue. I will build my 6263 with the standard issue DW bezel and see what the market has to offer at a later date. Again, thanks and well done.

Nice. But Pleeeeease have it de-rotored and fit a DW flat V72 caseback. Then you will have a watch

Thanks chaps, that info. corresponds to the size difference I have observed in my supposedly gen 78350. Looks like it might be gen after all - any other major tells?

would anyone like this rolex beater ss bracelet for free?
dieselpower replied to kin tama's topic in The Rolex Area
Nice gesture. Like it. Good vibes to you kin tama. -
I have a question. Was the clasp on the 7835 folded link bracelet exactly the same size as the clasp on the 78350 bracelet. If anybody has two gens to compare I would like this answering as I have what is supposedly a gen 78350 bracelet but the clasp is a different size to my (definitely) gen folded link 7835. Thanks.

Thanks alligoat. I will try to source an older tall coronet crown first. Does anybody have one they might like to sell? PM me if so

Thanks for clarification. Gen it is.

I have noticed that alot of repected folks hereabouts keep saying "fit a gen crown and aftermarket tube"..... and I was wondering why not fit a gen tube? For example, on my up and coming 6263 I will be fitting a gen 7mm 703 crown - but why not a gen tube as well? Are they so difficult to get hold of now? Are they rubbish? Also I seem to remember that of thew aftermarket tubes for a 703 crown there was a big difference in quality, some had more threads on them, some had different types of thread etc etc. So, in a nutshell - which crown and tube combination should I go for on my DW 6263 case? Whilst I am banging on about it, is there any difference in gen crowns? I have seen ads for 7mm crowns being suitable for subs, SD's daytonas, all three, only subs etc etc. Basically, if I get a gen 7mm 703 crown have I done right - even though it may say 'suitable for your 1665 sea dweller' or whatever? Thanks in advance.

Clarks vs Gen........ the battle is on
-
Thanks for that LHOOQ. Just the info I needed, I am happy with 361 el's now. Beatiful Cosmograph by the way. Is there a thread detailing its constituent parts?
-
I hear what you're saying JoJo and I do agree about the feeling of seeing gen parts. Also I like to explain to people that the watch is a mixture of genuine and replica parts, it often sparks off a conversation with the uninitiated. But what is the going rate for a gen T39 now, $300 or more? The clarks T39 is $63. Given that they are both made of the same material and that you would be hard pushed to spot the difference with the naked eye, would not your extra $237 be more wisely spent elsewhere on the watch?

Cheers Dizzy, fingers crossed.

@ Dizzy, Thanks for advice and encouragement! I did indeed jump in quickly and I might have made a mistake. The bracelet I have bought has not got 357 endlinks (my mistake) it comes with 361 end links. Is this a problem? What's the difference? it is probably going to be fitted to a DW 7750 case. Cheers.

Who cares about "trends". They are - by definition - shallow and transient.

Thanks for all input. Nobody has mentioned gen used pushers, if I could source a pair will they fit (or be made to fit) in a DW case? and whilst we're on the subject which crown and tube would you recommend? On my last 6263 I had a gen crown/tube fitted but I can't remember what size it was I think it was a 703 - would that make sense? Oh and one more thing, the bracelet I bought has not got 357 endpieces, my mistake, it has got 361's - is this going to cause me problems?

I remember reading a fairly detailed review of Clarks rep glass versus gen T39 and for the difference in price the Clarks was the one I opted for. I have a fully modded DRSD 1665 with Clarks glass and it is marvellous. I have to admit there is nothing as good as gen parts, it gives you a good feeling to look at your watch and know that a certain percentage of it is gen and I suppose that is worth a few $$ in itself but looking at the watch as a mere piece of machinery then the difference in the gen glass and the rep is not worth paying for...... unless you get a bargain of course!!

I am at the very beginning of a Daytona 6263 project and have decided to use a spare Asian 7750 movement to power the beast with a view to investing in a V72 at a later date. I have not really decided on cases yet but have a question to ask. Which pushers to seek out? As far as I can see there are three viable options. a. Genuine pushers b. Aftermarket pushers from Ofrei c. Aftermarket from Cousins UK Pardon my ignorance if I have overlooked something, please chime in with your worldly wisdom and experience. I want to get this one right!

Genuine thanks to the good people who have given me sound advice. Gen 7835 with 357 end links purchased. Now, on to the next stage......
-
Cheers for the advice chaps. I must agree that gen is the way forward. Had a really nice 7835 but sold it with the watch - gutted A hunting I must go, but really thats part of the fun

Are there any 19mm rep folded link bracelets on the market yet? Are they any good? I am putting together a 6263 project and am unsure which direction to go with the bracelet. I had a gen 6263 with 316 (I think!) endpieces and I liked the fact that it was a gen and I felt it 'legitimised' the watch somewhat. I am in the market for another gen but don't like the prices I am seeing. To all 6263 experts which way would you go? Thanks in advance.

Daytona 6263 (Spinmaster build) Arrived!
dieselpower replied to The Red Baron's topic in The Rolex Area
Great watch, hope you get the pusher issue sorted. Am in the market for a 6263 myself. Have had one before and modded it quite a bit with all the usual stuff. Am considering using Spin for my next one - hows his pricing?
