  1. Right getting really hacked off now. The damn watch is trustys Luminor Base SS 112h http://www.ttwristwatch.com/index.php?main...products_id=956 Third time lucky!?!
  2. Second attempt link!Sorry about that linking failure!
  3. Hi, Could some kindly Panerai experts give me the low down on this piece? Link to see watch How is it for accuracy and is the movement good etc? My wife has fallen in love with it and I don't want to pull the trigger without your expert say so! Thanks a million Dieselpower
  4. I have a'regular' DRSD and a MBW DRSD so I feel decently qualified to give a straight comparison. The biggest difference is one that cannot be described easily and that is the 'feel' of the watch. I worked in a vintage watch dealer in London and was very used to handling all the famous vintage rollies, Subs, SD's, Princes, Bubblebacks etc. When I got my 'regular' DRSD I did not know the differences from the gen (I do now!) but the one thing that stuck out for me was that it felt fake. I'm sorry to be vague but that's the way it is, it's lots of little details, quality of steel, lubrication, polishing, how the clasp works etc etc, when I bought my MBW it 'felt' alot closer to the genuine article - I know the details that are off and I'm going to have it fully modded and I appreciate that you might not want to bother with that but if the 'feel' is important to you then I would say get the MBW. Remember the old saying 'Buy cheap and you buy twice'. This is absolutely true in my case but then I am a bit of a stickler for detail so it really depends on what type of person you are, if you know that small details will irritate you and put you off from wearing the thing then MBW it is. If you don't really care about stuff like that and just want something to look the part then definitely go for the regular and buy one with an asian movement to save money because it will do exactly what you want, it will look the part but nothing more. I hope this makes sense and is of some use to you. All the best with your watch buying future. Dieselpower.
  5. The 300ce I was referring to is my car (Yes its a W124!) I am quite a few years senior to my trouble and strife and therefore feel like a fully paid up member of the old man club sometimes even though I am 'only' 43. By the way Merc did not release the E500 W124 in the UK so unfortunately I can't get my hands on one (the estate version of course). Anyway I don't want to hijack this topic (too much) so lets get back to watches. The black background is boring and the granite is not. I dont think the black bg makes you see any more detail in the watches so stick with the granite! Anyway Ubi for one man to posess so many superb Daytonas (where's the PN?) is downright greedy how about putting one up for auction on these here pages and let some other lucky person share in their fineness? All those who agree please post here and lets prize one of those beauties out of the Ubiquitous grasp Oh no, the wife has just read this and she feels another watch purchase coming on- I didn't mean it honestly darling!!
  6. Hi Ubiquitous, Just for the record that is not an old mans car. It is far too new. REAL old men drive much older Mercs than that ('92 300ce - in jet black - for example). Your watches are fantastic by the way. Keep up the good work. Dieselpower.
  7. Thanks bklm1234 for a concise an informative answer to the question. Looks like Eddie Lee has got the contract. Unless anyone strongly disagrees with bklm1234 you can consider this thread closed. Thanks again, great help, Dieselpower.
  8. I know nothing about YM's so here is the simple noob question. Who has the best rolesium mens YM? Oh and what are its faults. Cheers to all you modern fans (I'm a vintage man myself - am looking on behalf of a friend). Thanks one and all.
  9. Go with the granite. We always know its you when we see it. What is it? Your kitchen worktop?
  10. I have always said I wouldn't have a sub. Too common, no class, etc etc. I have read this epic thread with interest and admiration for the knowledge contained herein. I know precious little about subs. COUNT ME IN! I HAVE TO HAVE ONE
  11. Just ordered mine from ebay. Says 4 in stock - hope I am lucky! I think the Clark floodgates are about to open. Anyone know where to get gen crown and tube? Cheers
  12. A thousand thank you's for jumping in and vetting the T39 from Clark. I have MBW DRSD and the new glass is going to be my first mod. Thanks again!
