Judging by the photos it is definitely not an EE. Too thin. Damn good watch though. Enjoy.

Fantastic pieces. I must get myself one, I've always been an admirer of the 'mystery' day-date movement. Are the cases real gold?

What nice happened to you today or lately ?
dieselpower replied to Stephane's topic in The looney bin
Brilliant news about Mrs Nanuq. I'm smiling now and I don't even know her. Today somebody stopped me in the street and admired my car, we talked about it for 10 minutes (Merc 300ce) then he admired my DRSD. I told him it was a rep. I always do. Still it cheered the day up. Oh and Mrs Dieslepower got home after being away on work for 2 weeks. Great thread well done Stephane. -

Hey Freddy, Check this out - how's your Japanese? http://shopping.e-conveni.net/item_info.ht...id=1024735&

Export, Do not dispair! I have gens and reps and am very happy with both but maybe

Absolutely right about the sub-dials. They are basically too far apart and closer to the main munite index than on the gen but this is because the movement inside is the 7750. When I get a V72 I will have to buy a new dial. In a funny way this makes the EE even better because I wont mind spending money replacing the dial to fit the V72 movement and throwing that crap away. Kill two birds with one stone!

I have recently taken delivery of an EE Daytona. Few problems at first but have fitted a gen tropic 21 and a replacement bezel (thanks to a generous fellow member and Daytona fan who shall remain nameless). I love the watch and am now on the lookout for a Val 72 to see if it will fit in the case without any re-working. Does anybody know if a Val 72 fits in EE's cases? Anyway here is a very amateur photo of my new baby. One thing I have noticed and am intending to improve on is the dial, I have not lookd through a loupe but the printing of the words under the 12 o'clock crown are a bit rough to the naked eye - through a loupe probably horrendous! All hail the Daytona.
-
Whatever you buy, check out the bezel. That one you linked at Brand9 says uni-directional. It should be bi-directional.

An absolute beauty. Well done both of you. Marvellous.

Maybe he's trying to sell it to the invisible man.

Hi all, I was ambling round this wonderful forum of ours and something that I have fallen victim to reared its head so I thought I would start this thread and see if it is a common occurance. It starts like this; you have a hobby, you devote time to this hobby. Your wife puts up with it coz she loves you and is generally wonderful. She begins to look at your collection and shows a polite interest - which is nice and you start to explain what you like about your pieces and why you have chosen them. She listens and throws in the occasional comment about styles and even uses a few technical words that suprise and impress you. You do some in-depth research into your latest 'must have' watch and you ask your wife if she minds greatly if you buy yet another watch she rolls her eyes a little but asks to have a look at it. You think this is nice because, like clothes, if she likes it and thinks you will look good in it you know she will sanction its purchase. Of course she likes the watch, afterall this is your chosen field and you have impeccable taste! You order the watch and have that wonderful bitter - sweet wait for its arrival. Sure enough after a week or so the tell tale package from the far east arrives and you eagerly rip it open then carefully peel away at sellotape and bubble wrap to unveil the beauty inside. And what a beauty! You not only admire the watch but you also give yourself a mental pat on the back for having been so dilligent in your research which has resulted in the ownership of this magnificent specimen. You fish out the jewellers screwdriver to adjust the bracelet to the perfect setting for your wrist and on goes the watch! Ah, the satisfaction and admiration, coupled with amazement that these things can be made for such a relatively small cost, all in all you feel a little taller, the world is a slightly better place the sun is just a little warmer than usual and all is well. Your loving wife looks at your wrist in all its glory and then says 'could I try it on?' This is a little confusing as the finely engineered manly timepiece you are sporting will look a little silly on her delicate bones but what the hell - she's showing interest again and that can only be a good thing. You flip open the buckle and hand over your treasure. She looks at it for a couple of nonchalant seconds then slightly clumsily puts the watch on her wrist. Oh [censored]. oh [censored] oh [censored] oh [censored] oh [censored]. It looks fantastic. It looks so much better on her than on you. You are an aesthete and looks are vitally important. The watch - deserves - to be on her wrist, she looks great, she feels great, it was made for her. She then says that she really likes it and would like to borrow it occasionally if that's ok with you....... I think you know the rest of the story. My wifes watch collection (she's still a beginner): Rep. Rolex Explorer I (1016) from Andrew Gen. Vintage (1952) Oyster semi bubble back Rep.Panerai 176 titanium from Josh (to be fair she chose this herself) Gen. Ladies Oris (a gift) P.S. I have a Daytona 6263 project watch which is coming together nicely. I use the term 'I' loosely.

True. But through your googling you have learned something and education is its own reward.
-
Oh Richard, you just shot yourself down in flames! 0/10, bottom of class, glod star removed. Googling not allowed in examination conditions. Weeks detention
-
That depends on how big a fish ken is! Maybe he knows something we don't
-
Well done Richard UK!!!!!! You win the respect and kudos of fellow members for correctly pointing out the Tru-Beat.
-
I confess I did not know the accepted term (secondes-mortes) so I thank you for educating me, but yes, that is exactly what I am talking about. Just for the record I have held one in my own hands.

'Fraid not Pug. I'm taliking about a normal sized wristwatch that we all will recognise but has a second hand that jumps from second to second just like a modern quartz yet inside it has a mechanical movement.
-
Greetings all, I have posed a question on another forum and I thought it might be of interest here. Can anyone tell me the Rolex that has an automatic mechanical movement where the second hand 'jumps' just like a modern quartz? Get your thinking caps on chaps (and chapesses)

Cheers Hambone, will proceed. Your avatar - anything to do with Marillion?

Hi all, I am considering purchasing an item from Japan but the vendor says he is not responsible for the item once he has posted it. He is in the land of the rising sun and I am in the UK is it a difficult postal route for customs etc, is the Japanese post unreliable I have no idea. All help/experiences gratefully received.
-
It is truly a thing of beauty. Well done Pug. You are inspiring me. I can feel a dremel purchase coming on! Oh dear, I can envisage hours sat at a workbench surrounded by little heaps of steel dust and nothing left of the CG's on a precious piece....... just a little bit more off here I think..........

Nice. The kind of watch nobody would ever call out.

You can get MBW's from George. Use the search facility. You have to do much more of your own homework before parting with your cash. You got lucky by not getting the 1665 you were going to get. Don't ask me to tell you how to find George - don't forget these dealers are selling illegal goods, that is why people are tight lipped about who they give info to. Believe me he can be found. I think you need an MBW. Anything less will disappoint. Hope this is of some use.
