'You betcha'

Cheers Ubi, I've just checked the datewheel on my 'standard' 1665 - oh dear, back to the drawing board. If you get a min. PM me - I wanted a quick word.
-
Nice watch, but I suspect at heart you are a vintage fan. Go on take the plunge.

True, it's not gay..... It's very gay, in fact, camp as a row of tents, camp as Christmas and would be worn by a cake boy, a disco dancin' Streisand ticket holdin' friend of Dorothy - know what I'm sayin'? Now don't get me wrong, I admire the workmanship - just like I can admire the workmanship in Elton John's Donald Duck costume - but I wouldn't walk to the shops to buy a loaf of bread in it - get my drift?
-
Ah, I see. Thanks for info. My MBW is away at the great modding hospital in the USA at the moment so I can't compare. Anyone answer the colour question?

Don't forget Pug is a master at photoshop manipulation.

I have a MBW 1665 DRSD and a 'standard' 1665 DRSD. The MBW has a white date wheel. The 'standard' has a silver datewheel. I have read various opinions on what colour the datewheels should be (I don't have a definitive answer) and I have also read that there is some difficulty sourcing silver datewheels for a 1665. I find it all very confusing. Therefore I would like to pose two questions. 1. What colour should the datewheel be on a 1665 SD? 2. Given that both my reps use the same ETA movement should not the two datewheels be interchangeable and the 'problem' not exist? Oh, I just thought of a third question 3. If the datewheel should indeed be silver, how could MBW be so rubbish as to fit a white one?

Not only a fke, but a BAD one! 0/10 Uma and Quentin tut tut tut. Dieselpower.

A few dealers sell these older style chronographs. I do not have one but see no reason why you should not buy one, if you know you are getting a good price and you trust the dealer. Remember that the original piece would probably be manual wind and many chrono reps are automatic. Also a genuine piece from the 1950's would have an old patina and these will look spanking new but if that doesn't bother you then enjoy! Dieselpower

YM Fake . As bklm1234 points out, you should be able to see the minute index in the right hand side of the date mag window. From your photo you can't because the window is too far to the right. Definitely fake. The other piece? No idea!

I have an Explorer 1 (1016) from Andrew and you have to pull the stem out two clicks to adjust the time, first click does nothing the crown just spins freely and the second hand still moves, second click is a bit stiffer but not real bad, then the second hand stops and I can adjust the time normally. Two clicks back in, screw the crown back and bingo. It has ETA movement. Hope this is some help GOOD LUCK. dieselpower.

You have DRSD! Same applies.

Keep it clean. False ageing is nasty. The clue's in the name - Great WHITE. Good luck and enjoy, Dieselpower

Fantastic work. A great piece. An inspiration to all those who worship at the SD shrine. I have a DRSD in the pileline. The waiting is going to kill me. All the best, Dieselpower.

Have you ever thought of applying to Rolex for a job? I'm sure they could use a talented person such as yourself! Great work, I am not worthy. Dieselpower.

Hi Watcher, Thanks for your blessing! You can rest assured that your lovely baby will be in good hands and looked after properly. I am very interested in your V72 Daytona and which route you chose to build your piece. If you have the time and inclination can you PM me with details as that is exactly what I want to get for myself. And of course the first great decision - To PN, or not to PN: that is the question: Whether 't is nobler on the wrist to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous imperfections, Or to take arms against a sea of details, And by replicating - end them! Ah the journey is so exiting! All advice/opinios still gratefully welcomed, Dieselpower (with a little help from W. Shakespeare)

Hi watcher, Are you sure you owned this watch? Look at the photos on this link! http://www.rwg.cc/members/Ee-Vintage-6263-6265-t18780.html Look asymmetrical to me! Cheers Dieselpower P.S. Ubi - you da man!
-
You got it in one! That is the watch I am (eagerly waiting for) I must admit I am a bit dissapointed about the non-asymmetric pushers. I thought the case was a 1:1 copy of the original. All in all it looks like I will be buying another Daytona. Oh the pain and expense of the learning curve! Maybe I will go the whole hog and build a PN from a case kit and a V72 from a donor watch. I still want this piece and am greatly looking forward to its arrival - will try and take some photos when it arrives but that is not a strong point of mine as I only have a non-SLR digital camera but I will try. If you have any info about it could you PM me? Original bracelet? Cheers Dieselpower.

I was wondering about that. You have just confirmed more expense! Yes, I will as you say have to replace the dial too. So secondly, where would you recommend I source the dial? (obviously not a gen - I don't want to remortgage my house!). I have done research and have a list of suppliers of parts in mind but without actually having done this before I would greatly appreciate any advice so that I do not end up wasting money. Thanks again. Dieselpower.

I have just purchased an EE 6263 (waiting for its arrival) and am planning on installing a Val 72 movement to replace the Asian 7750 that is currently in the watch. Given that the replacement movement will be a manual wind I suppose the caseback that the watch will come with will be too large (in depth) as it will be made to accomodate a the rotor of the automatic movement. If this is the case (ha ha - no pun intended!) does anybody know where I might purchase a 6263 case back (either gen or rep) and how accurate any aftermarket ones might be to the original? Thanks to all for help. Dieselpower.

About six months ago I saw for sale a 6263 with a swiss made 7750 movement and I was very tempted to purchase it. It was pricey and the fact that it was automatic put me off. I have never been able to find this watch for sale since. Has anyone seen one? If so where? Anyway I got to thinking why it should be so rare? Does anyone know any reason why one could not just buy a swiss 7750 movement and have it fitted into a rep Daytona in replacement for the asian 7750? As a matter of interest the subdials on the swiss one I saw were white (it was a black dial) and I have not seen an asian mvmt 6263 with black dial and white subs (they all seem to have silver subs which is I believe wrong). Any thoughts/opinions? Cheers, Dieselpower.

Just been trawling through the web and came across this site which I found interesting and informative with lots of good pics. Thought I would share it with those who are interested. Enjoy. http://bjsonline.com/watches/gallery/index.php Cheers, Dieselpower.

Thanks for your supportive reply Ravishingrick! The watch inquestion is for my wife and guess what - she's changed her mind! We noticed the missing L swiss made L but thought the clean look of the dial was really smart. However, she has chosen (finally?) the titanium cased version from Joshua. Hope you agree (we can't fault it). http://watchwindersworld.com/pn17604-serie...neck-p-827.html Thanks again for guidance and who knows - I may come round to the Panerai world one day myself - I've spent alot of time researching them now and they are beginning to grow on me - I just need to put a few inches on my wrist and I might actually be able to wear one! Thanks again, Dieselpower.
