  1. Greece winning Euro 2004 is IMO the saddest thing to happen in international football since I started following the game. Talk about norway's destructive style in the 90's, Greece had perfected the art of [censored] poor football that produces results.
  2. I found this reading around about watches: "Why do people buy fakes and what does it say about them? Here's what buying and wearing fake/counterfeit watches really says about the wearer: Poor Grasp of Value - Replicas are made to sell by looking like something far more valuable than they are. They are seldom made for quality, carry no warranty, are made from cheap parts and are usually not worth repairing. They are basically overpriced disposable products, so are a poor value for your money. Lack of Integrity - Those that choose cheap replicas to try to impress others that they have a real luxury watch are using falsehoods to represent themselves. So that makes people wonder what else about how you represent yourself is false. Weak Ethics - Choosing replica watches shows the world that you are willing to support unethical and illegal businesses--not giving a care about the ethics and legalities involved if they get in the way of getting something that you want cheaply. Gullible - Especially where someone unknowingly buys a fake, they show themselves to be easily deceived and someone that throws caution to the winds trying to get a super deal on an expensive item. Isolated - Certainly there are no clubs for owners of fakes. No comraderie among fellow owners. No sharing of tips, tricks and performance issues. No assistance with operation, warranty or repair issues. Fake buyers are on their own with nobody to care, nobody to help and nobody to compliment or encourage them--except for the occasional person you might encounter that doesn't know enough about watches to realize you are trying to 'impress' them with a cheap counterfeit. " I love the last one, buying a fake Seamaster will isolate me and leave me friendless and sad.. Unless I meet someone gullible in a back alley who offers to align my bezel. I think this says more about some of the people who buy REAL watches! Edit: forgot the courtesy link http://www.chronocentric.com/watches/count....shtml#whatsays
  3. Thanks/Tackar/Takk Hehe, I'll keep the Panerainfection in mind... I have a friend that's crazy about Porsche Design-watches, (you guys don't care about those much?) but I really think they look like the first watch I ever bought.. ..when I was 12..
  4. Thanks a lot guys! I've concentrated most of my reading around seamasters, and I'm starting to get a little overview.. One thing I wonder about though; the 40, 42 and 45 mm and other sizes.. I don't like huge watches, nor do I like the tiny almost woman's-looking ones, so are the 42/42,5mm ones they way to go for me?
  5. Greetings! Having read a lot of topics and posts around here the last day or so, I see now that what I thought were "fake" watches is so much more. I honestly could not have imagined how serious and interesting this hobby/lifestyle/occupation is. I have found a few models I have only heard of before, like the Omega PO and the LV wich I have more or less fallen in love with. Just starting to discover a new world of beautiful watches, I see I have lots to look forward to! I am first and foremost an Omega Seamaster-fan, being a sailor and all, and I have a thing for beautiful diver-style watches with blue dials. (Any recommendations to models to look into would be very welcome) I'm sure I'll tickle someone by saying that I can't really see what the Panerai-craze is all about! You who have handled them and worn them might know a lot more than I do (I'm sure), but I guess it comes down to taste in the end. A request: Can anyone selling to or buying from norway tell me how it works? I mean with customs and CC/paypal transactions. Can we in this tax-ridden country avoid/reduce tax issues in any way? Anyway: I look forward to reading and researching around these parts, feeding off your knowledge and experiences. I might not be a very active poster in forums, but I find it very interesting to read what you have to share.
