  1. I purchased an Explorer II white dial a21j rep from watcheden for about $88 shipped with a discount (I think the code is at the top of the website? or check out their section on here). It had a mineral glass crystal though, but the hour markers and hands were black unlike some reps out there. I also think there is a nicer version of it on there with a swiss movement, etc. Anyways just trying to help
  2. I am a newer member on the forum, and I have enjoyed every minute on here since. I have been truly amazed by the amount of generosity that I have seen displayed by so many people and specifically the "old school" most knowledgeable members (you know who you are) These guys don't have to help anyone out, offer advice, etc. and yet all my personal experiences that I have sought advice, etc. have been more than pleasurable. From a "newbie" I thank you guys. To Kurt, the act of generosity that you extended to me, is something that you didn't have to do and you extended without request. That is something that isn't just generosity, it is the sign of great character. The touching act that Ubi has just extended to you I know has many other forum members here you have helped, like me, that silently applaud as they read Ubi's post. Once again you deserve it man! Cheers!
  3. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that you just use some nail polish remover to remove the paint? Someone should chime in to confirm but that's what I would suggest. I don't know if you need to use a brush of some kind to really get in there, I know I've used a needle to scrape out polishing compound when I've polished a caseback and the excess got into the printing. My 2 cents, good luck!
  4. I just received my PT 1665 GWSD and man was I disappointed... It had scratches on the bracelet, came with only 1 2mm solid springbar, and TO TOP IT OFF came with a 2836-2 movement that I'm not sure is even a swiss eta, I think it's a clone, but I wouldn't be able to tell. I can't believe this I have an email into Angus to see how we can resolve this... we'll see
  5. Hey alli, is that side profile picture (4th pic down) your PT with the Ofrei crystal you installed? Just curious?
  6. Oh and what would you pay for one?
  7. I just want to know what the price range is for these, as I don't have any bearing on it. Also I want to confirm that a 25-39 is the same thing? Thanks!
  8. Ah, got it! Great to know, thx guys!
  9. Hi all, I just wanted to pick the brains of anyone on here who's purchased from Puretime? Specifically if you are in the CONUS, how long did it take from ordering to receiving your watch? How was communication, did you get updates via email at every point in the process, ie. your order has shipped, your order was received, etc? I ordered a 1665 GWSD last saturday 2/13 and it says the order was received, but that is all I've gotten since, and I'm just curious if this is a normal amount of time to not hear anything, etc? Thanks!
  10. This is why these forums are so great! Thanks so much Marty!
  11. Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone here on the forums had a 24-703 genuine rolex crown that they would be willing to sell. I have searched ebay and there isn't much that I've found, and the ones I did, I couldn't bid at the time the auction was ending. I know I should put this in the parts forum, but I figured I would have better luck here. Anyways, it's for a PT 1665, and if anyone has one they would be willing to sell, just pm me with a price. Thanks so much!
  12. Hey aeromatic, you can use the WSO T-39 crystal above for your Trusty, I used it on a GWSD I bought from Josh, it's a tight fit on the case and the retention ring as well, but I got it on there with no watch press, so it's possible. Below is the crystal profile on it
  13. Hey guys where do you source the gen crown for these PT's? And also what is the model # of the Ofrei T-19 Alligoat? Thanks!
  14. Haha, yeah I thought it was worth trying out, let us know if you get it to work!
  15. Just a really quick thought about the nylon gasket breaking and a possible solution.... I was thinking that maybe some white teflon tape (the kind that plumbers use to wrap threads of pipes with) might work as a quick fix? Just wrap it around the crystal until you get the right fit with sliding the retention ring on? After the ring is on, you could exacto the excess off the top edge? I think it's definately worth a try? My 2 cents...
  16. Ok no problem, you could also pm me if you wanted And John Mayer is actually a vintage watch nut, I just read somewhere that he loves vintage rolexes and his entire vintage watch collection is worth in the 20 million dollar range! Wow
  17. Wow, thanks for all the pics and great info guys! Yeah I think I'm sold on the steel wool brushing on the band/case and then just not polishing it up to give it a more "toned down" dull look.
  18. How much did you pay for the strap? How did you go about acquiring it? Thanks
  19. http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=82480 - Here's an easy fix to this, I've done this and it works like a charm!
  20. Thanks for the great advice! When you use the wool do you just brush the watch abstractly or do you do it with the grain as you would when you "rebrush" a watch. I'm looking to try and get that really worn look, I heard that someone might have put their watch in a plastic back with some nuts and bolts, etc. and then shook it up to get random imperfections? I don't know anyone who has more insight let me know! And direction to a fading the bezel would be great too! Thanks!
  21. Hey guys, I was just wondering if there were any tutorials or threads about how to "vintagize" your rolex vintage reps. I just purchased a DRSD 1665 and would like to get it "worn in", etc to look more like the real thing. Any info would be appreaciated!
  22. Yeah, I understand, thanks for the input again! I really appreciate it, these boards are great! I'll crack open the case and see if I can just rotate the movement at least so it's straight. I can live with the date being off, it holds great time and also looks really good for the price. Not worth the hassle for me to order another one until this one dies. Thanks so much!
  23. Thanks alligoat! I appreciate the insight! One question though, would it be possible to rotate the dial slightly when I remove the movement (without removing the hands, etc)? And yeah its just a 21j movement so its probably just the date wheel, but my dial is slightly off center and that would help greatly if I could rotate it because it would help some of the offset.
  24. Hi there, I'm new to the forums, and I have a quick question about my new Explorer II white face rep I just received from Watcheden. First I should say that overall I'm impressed with what I received and the service from watcheden was good. I received the watch in about 15 days overall shipped to the CONUS. In regards to the watch, the hour marker surrounds are actually black (which Ive read isn't the standard for the white face exII reps), the dial printing is pretty crisp, and overall for the $80 I paid, I'm pretty satisfied. Now on with the small problems with the watch- 1st problem- The date is off in the date window, the number seems to be higher up in the window and cuts off the top of the numbers. It could be that the date overlay is misaligned, but I also noticed that the dial is slightly off from being centered as well (and off clockwise) which would lead to think that the dial could be misaligned slightly. I would think adjusting the dial counter clockwise to re-align would at least somewhat help the date window alignment problem. Question - If I remove the movement, can I rotate the dial face just by hand? Or would I have to remove the hands, etc. before doing anything? 2nd problem - The GMT hand when I adjust it, every quarter rotation around the dial, the date wheel sort of clicks as if its turning over at 12am to change. It doesn't actually change it just moves slightly then clicks back into place. Question - Is that normal? I'm not familiar with GMT movement. Also I adjust the GMT hand when the crown is in the date position, rotating the crown down adjusts the date, rotating the crown up adjusts the GMT, is this right? I will upload pictures tonight of my watch as well. Outside of these things the watch holds great time, and looks great! Any input would be awesome thanks!
  25. Thanks for the pic Frank! I'm trying to determine how much bigger it sits on the wrist than the Sub so keep them coming thanks!
