  1. too bad G, best thing is then try to get a replacement from Asian7750, if not then you have to decide what to do...
  2. Hi Sander I never said i was right, just said it would probably be worthy to have a look before sending the watch to repair... Dont get me wrong i am not against movement servicing, in contrary, but what is the common believe from many many watchsmiths is that the seconds at 6, are just wrongly designed and since there are no jewels in the extra gears added, the movement is faulty be design, and while there are some movements working for a long time (i am a lucky one, have one for 2 years), several other ones that i had just stopped. I am quite sure you know it better, that many and i mean, the vast majority of the seconds at 6, will stop eventhough they are serviced, because its not a lack or oil/over oil, or dust problem, its a trackion problem combined with some really bad design. Switching a new movement for sure will cost money, but not even a third of what a service will cost. Now just talking about myself, in this case i would prefer to get a new movement, use it while it lasted and then if i really liked the watch, i would get a gen movement or if the movement lasted like mine is lasting, than it would be probably worthy to get it serviced... but this is one in many many movements that will last this long. but hey, this is just what I would do. I would take Sander advise though and check the gear. Here is another picture, although i think Sander's picture is quite clear... and good luck
  3. If its a ratchet problem, that can happen when you frequently manually winding a watch with a 7750 movement the most common sintom is that the watch will show a poor power reserve. Dont know if this is the case, but if thats the problem i am offering myself to send you one Glenn. @nakortheblue unfortunately cheap is relative... since i dont know any watchsmith charging less than 80 euros for a service (not including parts) when a new movement is around $75... still just try to get your dealer to change the watch...
  4. movement picture not sure whether is a 25j or 21j, no clue about that actually... didnt had time to look it up yet. (faux power reserve, since the working power reserve has an inaccurate dial, and anyway when wearing, power reserve will be almost always at max. Although generally dont like faux things, i hardly notice it, and can actually live with it quite well.. I guess it should be pretty hard to get gen movements for this baby... its a full in house movement. have to figure if this is going to be a daily beater or not before investing in further mods.... i do have to recommend the HKTAN strap... it really brings something extra...
  5. as far as i know this is standard rep AR. It looks very good. Got it from another member, that also got it from another one, so can't be 100% sure about that. (i guess this watch has travelled quite a lot, last time at least from Australia to Europe). the only problem like Mike said, is that is a little bit to the large side.. but still wearable and i guess thats why its been sold. Last user and previously one, as far as i understood hardly used it since "it was too big", and i kind understand why, not everyone will like it. But for the time being i just love it.
  6. Just got my new toy... aint it stunning?
  7. Hi Its as easy as it gets to remove the stem and put it back in again. unscrew the 4 screws in the backcase of the watch. Then the back case will become loose and expose the mechanism. Then press the small "reset-like" button (top arrow) and while pressing it down with something, push the crown out. To insert is just the same, insert the crown/stem while pressing the button down. Hope it helps... But best is if your dealer can exchange you the watch. regards H.
  8. Maybe try to remove the crown/stem and place it back in again. Maybe something out of place there... just give it a try...
  9. probably something wrong with the drive train... mis-aligned gears or something similar, hope its an easy fix. good luck for it and let us know.
  10. what about gen 3717 cases? did anyone ever tried to find them? How much would be a reasonable amount of money to pay for one?
  11. sorry for my english but that was exactly what i meant. The 20mm wide end next to the cas.e In my case it is a perfect fit and does not rub againts the case (it stays like 1 mm away). In the sides is really tight against the lug holes but doesnt gets damaged as well. So its basically a perfect fit. About the Bob straps, i can say they are cheap and decent quality for price, but i dont find them very confortable (they look nice though). They are very stiff (maybe they just need some more usage or a product to make then softer (i guess i heard somewhere about a product to do this)). regards
  12. i have one BOB strap but on a standard IWC 3714 (a7750) one. it works well and although i dont use it very often it is a perfect fit. and doesnt get damage in the sides. But the quartz version might be different.
  13. you probably only need a smaller strap. A7750 portos have 20/18 mm straps but maybe the quartz one is different. Check the size of the strap you have bought, maybe you just got the wrong size strap. just my 2c.
  14. looking for an IWC 3714-38 preferentially dead :D

  15. annoyed for not being able to remove a IWC 3714 crystal head... this [censored] is tightly fitted...

done it, no wonder why it was so hard, it was glued from the inside...

  16. great watch, but with sooo many gens on it, this watch is screaming for a better strap this is what I call an ultimate franken, nicely done!!
  17. Hi It really depends what you want to do. You have quite some options there. Either get a new A7750 28800 bph since it will be a direct fit for your version. (you can post a request in the forum) or buy them from a dealer. They will probably have them around, maybe concepta also has them, you have to ask for it. The one you posted from ebay, if i am not mistaken it wont be a direct fit since it is a 21j, and therefore it use different hand sizes. What Chief was saying is that a watchmaker can adjust them for you. I dont know the exact measure here, but if i am not mistaken the chrono hand and the subdials have different sizes, some are too big and some are too small. They can either make it large or small to adjust to the correct size for you. Another option is to by an ETA 7750 or an gen IWC 79320. Both will be more expensive and both will need either adjustment of hands or in alternative gen hands or if you can source then 21j hands will also work. Sometimes you can find them around in the watch parts section of this or other foruns. The cheapest approach (in a short term) would be to post a request for a movement or contact dealers about it. There are quite some users that swapped movements, so it shouldn't be too difficult to get one. You course without servicing the new movement, you will never know how long will it last. Whatever you decide to do, good luck for it. regards H.
  18. yep but that one has been there for ages... its full of scratches....
  19. lol for sure.... just get a new watch, a new movement would almost always be more expensive than that
  20. very simple in IWC portuguese.. open the case back by removing the 4 big screws.. then depending on the version you have, there will be 4 other small screws or not... If you have the version with the 4 small screws in the center case, just take them off and then the crystal head will become loose, you dont need to touch the movement for this... If you have a version that does not have the 4 screws inside then you have a "pop in/pop out" crystal head. To remove it then you can just use a knife to make it pop out. You can also remove the 2 screws that hold the movement to the case and press the movement into the crystal, that will make the crystal head pop out, however this is more risky since you can damage the dial or the bezel, however if you are careful there will be no problem. After doing this you will have a crystal head with the bezel and crystal. You can send it like that to Uwe (FineDD) in rwi or via Domenico if you are in europe, not sure whether he will charge you more for removing the crystal from the crystal head... If you live in the other side of the atlantic, just send it to Chieftang.. If you want to remove the crystal yourself its advisable to buy a crystal press.. you can buy that from ebay for 30$. cheers H.
  21. @JOERG Thank you for the info, i was not sure if it was a flaw or an older version. good to know its accurate to pre 2003 models, but one have to keep in mind that by that time IWC 3714 had no AR and a 79240 movement. I also inquired about the difference between the 79240 and the new 79350 and the difference is only the finishing of the movements. The old one has a gold finishing and the new a nickel finishing. I was explained that the nickel one is less prone to scratches and more in line with other IWC movements therefore they decided to change it.
