  2. no comments? i am sure someone out there has an original one and can comment on this...
  3. you can try to send it out to domenico or Francisco, i guess both of them will do it for you. For sure Domenico will do it. regards

  5. can anybody comment in the accuracy of the color of the white dial with gold numerals 3714-01? I have seen already at least 2 versions, one with yellowish gold hands and numerals and one with rose/copper gold hands and numerals. I saw that the blue hands also change in these 2 versions, the first has more dark blue hands. The dials also differ in color, having the first one more of a yellow tone and the second one somehow more white/silvery, still not really white. Could this reflect the change this watch had in 2006? I know at least that pos-2006 the crown is different (probus scafusia instead of the fish symbol) and it has double AR (unlike pre-2006 which doesn't have it). I also heard somewhere that the numerals are different in the two versions, but not sure what is the difference never saw pictures of the 2 versions compared. (maybe something like the way the numerals are added to the dial? or some color difference?) My questions are how does the 3714-01 dial compared to the gen in terms of color accuracy, and which of these versions is closer to the gen... from the pictures i saw it seems that the gen as a much whiter dial but that could also be due to the angle and light when the picture was taken. thanks Hugo
  6. Hi Francisco used to do graphite treatment but since its not working for all the watches i guess he is not doing it anymore, but you should ask him. About bricciola he was saying that in his opinion DLC coating doesn't work (so i guess he doesn't do it as well) however avitt did it and his watches are working great last time i heard from him. Bricciola i think still does the graphite treatment but you should inquire them about these mods... regards Hugo
  7. Which strap do you recommend for the IWC 3714-01 (white dial gold numerals)? I heard Tony (avitt) saying the brown looks best and i also agree but when i was searching for one, the prices differ significantly and i am not sure how well do they compare. For now the options are: 1. TWB chocolate 80
  8. I just saw that the ingy 7 day version is out there, not sure since when, so i was wondering if anybody has this watch and can make a review out of it? http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=798
  9. LOL, looking forward to see those pictures... you will be an happy owner for sure... just a question for the crowd out there, does anyone know when can we expect an ingy 7 day?
  10. Hi Pug sorry to add this new topic to your sub section but i think if people collaborate we can make a nice topic. If you have any ebooks on photography, watchmaking, watch repair or anything interesting for the RWG community, please post links here. To start of this topic here it goes some starter books everyone should have.... 1. Understanding close up photography 2. The Photographers eye 3. Perfect digital Photography 2nd ed. there are more but can't upload them right now.. still working on it... will come soon.
  11. i have plenty of that books available in pdf (send me a pm if you interested in a photography book, there is a fair chance i might have it). they are too many to name here....
  12. if you want a dedicated macro lens i would go for the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro as suggested. There are better macro like the L series but then you would be spending around 1000 euros for a lens alone which would be more than double the price of your camera. The MP-E 65 is not meant for somebody starting, not at all... Nowadays you can find them pretty "cheap" (100 mm 2. or you can also look into sigma or tamron, they also have acceptable lens for a cheaper price. Anyway if you just want to play with your new toy, you can use the kit lens that has a macro mode as well, if is the same thing? no, but will give you an idea...anyway the more you go into photography, the more you will realize that the technique you use will matter more than the gear. good luck and remember to keep on posting your new pictures
  13. Hi Pug Nice picture of the movement, but if you accept a small critic.. just a tiny one, i think the movement is a little bit bright but i guess that was just to have both the background (dark) and the movement (bright) looking nice and to do it in a simple way. For a more expert audience, using exposure bracketing and then by merging them (the so called HDR) would give an increased dynamic range and of course a little bit more work taking the pictures. However, the tip of the plastic bag is excellent. Thanks for adding that and teaching others in the forum to improve theirs photographic skills.
  14. Just went through it... its really sad he did this, shame on him for that, didnt know that before.
  15. really?? i didnt know that about K2222, if thats is true its really bad... i guess he was still doing AR runs not long time ago, at least i think i saw it in another forum... i will search for it. thats really really bad... but how sure are you about that? just saw in another forum a post that said "Domi is working together with fine dd when it comes to AR services", i think he is not a rwg member... but not sure.
  16. didn't know taka was not RWG member. Chieftang and Domi are definitely great members for AR as well. If i am not mistaken Domi sends it to K222 right? At least in europe Domi can sort everything out, for US members, you cant go wrong with chief. for Domi contact check this post: nick name: BRICCIOLA
  17. does anybody knows where can we get crowns similar to the gen and price, since the fish version looks kind of silly IMO.
  18. @mogerene: Just to add to Modelizer comment, for this particular model you can also get a new crystal from Taka. It already has double AR if i am not mistaken and makes the letters and numbers in the dials white instead of the default somehow more beige color. There is a post about this somewhere in the forum, not sure where anymore. It is also cheaper and faster (only for this model tough). But hey this is just my opinion if you want to buy one.
  19. looks really really nice. Enjoy the watch and the new strap.

Just to add to my previous post. If you need service or graphite treatment you have an excellent watchmaker (Domenico) in germany, so avoiding problems with customs.. not sure about the price but you can check it out on the post about him now he can service the watches, performs graphite treatment to seconds at 6 movements, lume, etc... it really nice to have someone in Europe to help us out. Not sure how well does the graphite treatment compare with the DLC platting on these seconds at 6 watches? Anyone? And of course ubiquitous is completely right the best would be to buy the original 79350 movement from concepta, but not everybody can afford to spend 550 euros just on the movement itself.. specially if you are into having several watches and are on a low budget. However, if you can, dont even think twice.. just go for it. by the way, Ubiquitous.. thats a sexy looking watch and movement, congratulations... cheers, Hugo Alves

Hi Fosi I am also from Portugal and i am more a less in the same quest. Although i am looking more into IW371401 or IW371438. From what i researched the most accessible movement is the asian 7750 29J. However this is usually a time bomb since they use seconds at 6 which forces the use of an extra wheel and therefore problems to the movement. For the seller i guess that almost all are selling the same watch. I know that http://www.perfect-hour.com ships them from UK which is an advantage for us since i am quite afraid they will be retained in customs. It would be nice if someone from portugal with more experience could say something about getting watches from outside europe. Now i am also looking into other sellers trying to get a better deal... and i know some will ship them form europe if you ask but you will have to pay extra and wait longer for that.. not sure how much and how long though. About the mods, the best is really to ask avitt if he is willing to DLC coat it. In principle this is reported to make the movement much smoother but i dont think many people waited long time to check for its stability... i guess time will tell but for a cheap options thats the best deal. Needless to say that double AR coating from Chief (canada i guess) or k2222 (poland) does wonders to these beauties. A new crown would also be nice to take the stupid fish version.. i am still looking to whom is selling this.. couldnt find any yet but i guess it shouldn't be difficult to get one around. hope it helps somehow and maybe someone that have modded several versions from different sellers can pronounce about the quality of the different replicas... cheers hugo Alves
  24. what a great watch.. congratulations... just some questions... who did the AR for you? looks great. Where did you got the rep from? Just asking because somehow the red subdial seems to have slightly different red color depending on the seller. but maybe its just an artifact due to the light available when the pictures were taken.. Anyone know if the dials and the red subdials are the same in all sellers? Is there one that is somehow more close to gen? thanks in advance regards Hugo Alves
  25. Dear All First of all i would like to appologize if the question is too naive... Does anyone know where i can find a very good replica of the perpectual calendar 5022? I am not even sure if it is easy or possible to be driven by an asian movement. In this moment i cannot afford for the expensive Swiss Eta movements or the sexy concepta originals... I have searched some of the reputable dealers and cannot find it. Only in some presumable scam sites and probably terrible replica watches.. I would appreaciate any input.. Thanks in advance
