I didn't see that Tweny either. How can they get something like that wrong? Does that mean all of them from same factory same run will have same problem or do they do that by hand?

I've seen loads of rotors with that mistake.

Does anybody have any links or can explain the moon phase function in detail? I need to know the gear ratios, how the complication attaches to the drive train and how the module is quickset...parts involved and interactions etc.

Basically it's a second calendar mechanism that turns in 29.5 days (the length of a lunar month) instead of 31. The details vary depending on the movement you look at.

Been messing with a custom build--want to do an ETA movement in a Seiko diver case with aftermarket dial, and use GMT bits from a rep GMT Master II. We all know that the GMT wheel on the modded 2836 isn't standardized by any means, I've seen many different designs. The one I want to use has the "jump hour" feature.

I did some digging in my drawer of spare hands and didn't find any that fit. 2893 hands are too small (no surprise) and the rep GMT hands I have are all too big. Also, a DG3804 hand was too big.

However, oddly enough, a 7750 hour hand fit perfectly. I looked it up and the 7750 hour hand has a 2.00mm hole.

Here's the weird part: the DG3804 supposedly also uses a 2.00mm hole for the GMT hand. What gives? I know that many of the rep 2836 GMT movements used a 210 hole, so I assumed that the DG was the same and that's why it was too big... Does anyone know I'd the DG movement sometimes uses different sizes? If so, does anyone know what hole size I will get if I order a raffles tile GMT hand for a DG?

It's a clone, and that's an excellent pic. 100% tells are clearly visible.

Finally got a bracelet on my GMT IIC, so I've been wearing it a lot ther past few days. I was outside today, sort of mixed overcast and some sun. I decided to take a few photos since my only photos since it came back from sneed12 were with a "Bond" NATO, which is definitely NOT the right strap for this watch.

At any rate I'm taking a few photos and I see this on the  LED screen. Is it a black hole a white hole or just a plain old hole? You be the judge

I cannot even begin to process the levels of stupid in your post.

1) No [censored], you were referring to you and not me with the 5-10 seconds thing. But it seems eminently reasonable to think that if it takes YOU 5-10 seconds to respond to a PM, it probably doesn't take me a very different amount of time.

2) You said "why not?" implying that since it only takes 5-10 seconds, it wasn't a big deal. There is an implication there that someone should be willing to give up their 5-10 seconds. While I don't think it's unreasonable, at the same time you have absolutely no right to expect that of someone else.

3) It's a bit hypocritical to be spouting off about how being polite to people makes their day a bit nicer, and then be rude to someone who's challenging your opinion.

I contribute to this forum by sharing my knowledge, experience, experiments and enthusiasm. You whine about how people who don't pay attention to you hurt your feelings. I try very hard to respond to PMs, especially from people who are asking for help with a project, but the fact is that every time I post a build thread I get inundated with PMs asking if I would be willing to sell the watch. Sometimes I don't have 10 seconds x 30 people to reply "No, if it were for sale I would have posted a for sale thread" and sometimes I just don't want to. You have absolutely no right to a response when you send a PM, so quit whining about "lack of manners" when someone ignores you.

 It takes about 5-10sec to send a short thank you reply, and this reply would make someone's life more pleasant in a very little way. Why not?

Sometimes I check my messages at work, and before I get a chance to reply I get interrupted and then I forget. Sometimes the PM is asking a very specific question and I have to dig a bit before I can find the answer, and it takes a while and I forget. Sometimes the message is just insufferably stupid and I don't want to reply. Sometimes I get a couple of dozen PMs in a day and I don't have time to respond to every one.

What difference does it make? What right do you have to demand ten seconds of my time if I don't have the time to give? Believe it or not, there are many more important things in my life than this forum. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.

 If it was me that received a PM like that and I only wanted to sell CONUS, fine, no problem, I'd reply back saying "Sorry, selling CONUS only.".

It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Considering it's been for sale for 6 months, it seems that the market does indeed think it's a bit pricey.

To be honest that dial spacing does not look like a eta 7750 setup. Might want to double check, unleashed the picture makes it look crazy.

Looks like a 7750 to me. Subdial spacing looks off because the subdials themselves are too small.

I agree with the previous posts too, certainly not a 7750 with those sub-dial spaces, and sec@9, also points to this.  If sec@6, and closer together sub-dials, then I would agree, 7750.

Nope. The 7750 has sec@9 in its regular configuration. It takes a transfer plate to move the seconds output to 6.

On the plus side, the bezel profile looks nice and flat compared to many of the modern sec@6 reps.

Ok thanks! Then I misunderstood my watch smith, but the conclusions still is that IWC modified their movement in order to let in run the extra gears much more smooth. The rep has extra gears, but the rest of the movement (mainspring and barrel, jewels, etc) is not extra modified. That is why the reps most often suffer from lower power reserves.

Again, no. There's no need to modify the "rest" of the movement. If the transfer plate was fully jeweled, it would be fine.

If the hand clearence works out, yes! Also the stem hight is slightly different but most tubes have enough tolerance to accept the difference.

This rep is miles better than the Sub-C used to be, has pretty good rehaut engraving finally (the rehaut engraving on these was off for years) and the color on the dial and insert is pretty good. No, it's not the best rep in the universe but it's pretty darn good.

Also, the BP maker Sub-C doesn't yet come in blue.

The cartel 5513 and 1680 cases I've seen have a thin nylon gasket that goes between the crystal and the retaining ring. If you leave it out the ring is too loose, but if you try to use it the ring won't fit. Also it slides off/up when you try to install the retaining ring and is just generally a huge pain in the ass.

However, rep bezel retaining ring has larger ID than gen bezel retaining ring. Will not work with gen-spec crystal gasket, it falls right off.

I think I mentioned that to the op, Sneed don't you have to clip off the teeth on the disk as well as standing?

Yeah, I don't clip I use a dremel and sand them off too but yes they have to be removed or they catch on stuff.

There was recently a gen bezel assembly (first I'd ever seen) for sale on VRF for 300-some odd Euros. panerai153 became the new lucky owner.

He posted a thread (http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/156850-gmt-iic-ceramic-bezelinsert-swap-more-photos/) asking how to install the bezel assembly on his watch, and I pointed out it wasn't possible with the case he was trying to use. We got to talking and he asked me to sell him my GMT IIc case and install his movement/dial/hands, gen crystal with AR'ed cyclops, and gen bezel assembly. I was eager to see a gen bezel assembly in person so I agreed.

When you take the gen bezel apart here's what's there

Compare to the torn down rep case (my rep is what we were calling the Sead superlumed last year, now we've learned it comes from the BP factory). As far as I know, this is the only rep GMT IIc with gen-style bezel construction. Every other GMT IIc case I've ever seen has a press-in crystal.

HOWEVER--inside diameter of rep retaining ring is TOO BIG. This is the problem I ran into before when I first tried to install a gen crystal in my watch. You can mount a gen crystal on the case using a gen-spec crystal gasket, but when you try to install the rep bezel over it, the rep bezel is too big. It falls right off. I kludged it before by using the rep gasket with the gen crystal, but it didn't hold very well.

Rep retaining ring installed. Notice how there's a gap at 6 o'clock (you can see between the ring and the gasket)? If I were to turn the watch over the retaining ring would fall right off (it's not supposed to do that, obviously). But the gen bezel retaining ring is designed for a gasket of this size, so using the gen parts gives a nice tight fit. The gen bezel works with this case.

Having confirmed that it will work, I install the movement so that I can ensure the crystal is in the correct position

and then I install the retaining ring.

This step was a gigantic pain in the ass. I did it at least a dozen times. If you don't get it right, when you install the bezel itself the triangle doesn't line up to the 12. The ring kept slipping/rotating as I pressed it, so it would start lined up but be slightly off when it was pressed down. I bet Rolex installs the entire bezel assembly as a unit, which would make this much easier, but I was deathly afraid to press on the ceramic insert for fear that I would crack it so I did it this way.

Finally I got it

and installed the gen bezel.

It looks amazing. Makes me wish I'd bought the bezel assembly. I'll be posting a second thread in a moment about what I'm doing with my watch and rep parts.

Interestingly, the bezel feels just like the rep bezels--there's a tiny bit of play when you click it over. I tried adjusting it but it's just the way the gen spring is. Don't get me wrong, it's not loose or anything, it stays put and clicks over with authority, but there's a tiny bit of wiggle. Makes me think of all the folks who have tried to mod their reps to not be that way!
