The gen is a 1965 5513, i would like to thank member george loiz(Watch maker) for his work putting this project together and his waterproofing services

parts needed to complete this project are a gen crown and an aftermarket crystal georgeloiz reshaped the reps tophat crystal which allows me to use the watch until i source the parts as this is suppose to be a budget build i will retain the 2846 eta movement

  2. Great work! good to see members (custom) building there watches just to show that this hobbie is not just replicating an exact vintage peice

i can appreciate and exact replica and a custom built watch if you have some parts lying in a draw and can make up a watch then why not

i have just reshaped an acylic crystal on my out of the box red sub which had a tophat crystal with cyclope that was out of line because of this the watch was put in a draw and never got any wrist time until i decided to remove the cyclope and reshape my crystal to look like a tropic 19 (my favorite type) it came out great and although this will be considered a fantasy watch i like it! aero!

  3. I was just goin to post a request for a new Brevet crown and tube But this post saved me the trouble my 6538 brevet crown and tube is screwed (please excuse the pun! i was wondering from where to get a replacement too . i saw somewhere some for sale for 30 usd but cant remember where ,i cant imagine that at that price they would be any good im a bit [censored] that after a year of owning my 6538 i have to replace my crown and tube but there you go! hope i can find a good one for a lot less than the 280usd iv been quoted

    Aero!

  4. I have changed all my vintage subs movements for slow beat i have fitted 2846 etas (my favorite)and my 5513 has an old 2784 for me if you age your vintage watch then the slow beat goes well my 5513 sweep doesnt look much different from my 6538 rolex (1030) sweep to me but then again a none aged vintage rep looks great too with the fast beat, there are very few vintage subs offered with these slow beat etas

  5. Hi all, is there a rep rubber strap available for the new 42mm PO?

Right now it's only available on SS or leather.

If I remember, there was an issue with older version rubber strap for 42mm in which the ends would flip up against the case, especially if you had a slim wrist? Was that ever solved?

    Thanks much!

hi there i just received the new 42mm po with stainless steel strap with very bad endlink the slots with which you use to access the spring pins

are uneven and is the only thing that lets this watch down and i would like to know too if there is available a 42mm rubber or leather strap i have been unable to find one.

  6. Crownguards trimmed, and I changed the folded links bracelet for this riveted one, but keep the buckle of the first one on this one....

Super Watch! Im not happy with my 5512 and i want to build a new one wondering how much would a mbw 5513 cost approx. im trying to buy a gen 1965 5513

i came across it at one of my local watchshops its in there with a broken movement and the repair shop cant find the parts to fix it the case is badly scratched as is the crystal the dial is in excellent condition and the watch has never let in water

One again you have a great 5512 well done!

  7. Hello im usually a rolexman but have recently bought the v2 ploprof and think this is an amazing replication i had problems with the clasp coming undone and put some oil on it as the buttons were not going back to there position freely

but i have a problem the clap divers extension sometimes slides out is there any fix for this?

as i said i am mostly with rolex (subs) but when a friend came into my workshop wearing a gen ploprof i had to try it on then i was hooked! and decided to get the v2 , im hoping to take some photos of the gen next to the rep this im sure as already been done!

  8. Hi there

I have been offered a superocean professional and need help to verify that this watch is authentic, according to what i have looked up on the internet

i have not been able to find a sop with 1500m rating for this serial number (A17345)stamped on the caseback this reference number shows only rating 1524m this watch has the cosc certified backcase i will post photos as soon as i can, i have not opened the backcase i will do this tommorow from what iv found out this model was discontinued in 2002 which is when the seller said he purchased it he will also give me the box and papers

the watch is in mint condition with light scratches on the bracelet and has the old style hands

can anyone confirm that this serial number had the 1500m rating?

Thank you for your help (in advanced) aeromatic!

  9. Superb Build! Love that dial I cant bring myself to age my 6538 iv aged a few watches, i also modded the corvus strap even corvus liked it and has featured my modded strap on there blog! again well done on a super build! glad to know other goldfinger fans!

  10. I hate to always be the dissenting voice (aside from Justasgood's citing of the incorrect bracelet stamp) with these types of pieces, but all of them look like Canal Street watches to me. Yes, they can be modded, but I would begin the process by throwing out the parts that seem to be their biggest selling points - their dials & inserts.

puretimes latest redsub bracelet is marked 93150 and endlink 285 are these correct? what are the correct numbers for the redsub?

  11. polishing disks, sanding disks, emery paper, masking tape and 4 hours work, oh and a bit of experience helps too

Nice Job ! how are you? that polished bracelet looks bad! in that photo, i bet that was was very hard to do with it having brushed and polished parts well done!

  12. Well i recieved the redsubs from puretime i was not sure if i would like the tropic dial/bezel so i ordered both versions, the brown redsub was perfect with a nice thick tophat crystal and good case i love the 2846 eta slow beat, great sound i found the tropic dial a bit too new looking for a vintage watch but very eye catching as a homage watch.

the black redsub looks more vintage with its matt black dial both watches have nice yellow markers not over bright like most other out of the box reps and the crystal has a quality feel without looking cheap this is the only reps out of the box that i will leave the crystals alone all my others i had to replace this, black dial redsub was not water resistant a quick splash under the tap soon had the crystal fogging up, the tropic was watertight and i assumed that the other one would be! anyway i took it down to my watchmaker friend when we removed the bezel and bezel retaining rings the crystal just fell off held together by a plastic ring once the ring was taken off it could not be refitted so my watchmaker made a brass ring and also glued the crystal with epoxy now the watch is watertight!

the other problem was that the spring pin holes were not drilled out enough and the rolex type thick springpins were reccessed in the case (the tropic holes were good so we drilled them then i wet sanded the case sides with 600 grade wet n dry and then polished up the case to a less shiny finish this also smoothed the newly drilled out holes

date magnification on these watches is good a nice watch for 200usd out of the box or a good candidate for modding i will add some photos later on!

  13. I Was Ready to order the trusty swiss eta version but this has changed my mind does this crystal issue have anything to do with AR coating

with todays higher quality reps than i have used for swimming without problem i dident expect this from this legend divers watch

wearing a drivers watch even a rep that can not take a rain shower sucks!big time!

  14. Those are pics of reps and they look really really good to my eye. I just might take a chance with one of these bad boys. I have no 21j's, these movements any good? :g: Im thinking hit or miss on these cheeper movements

i have some older watches with 21j ,s five plus years old working great they are simple movements and this makes them reliable but there are some cheaper ones that are not to good!

  15. :drinks: Gunnar you NAILED it.

I'll tell you what, this baby has me drooling. It may very well be the only rep I'll buy this decade. AS LONG AS I can find a thick mesh for it! Are good mesh bracelets available, and what's the lug spacing on this beauty?

    Must ... have ... a ... skanky ... PloProf !!! :Jumpy:

Yep! i second that too this watch has got me droolin too but as you say its gotta have a mesh bracelet not to keen on the rubber one! shall we wait for a mesh? :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  16. "This Rolex Sub was bought circa 1985-86 on Canal St in NYC."

It has a Seagull ST16 in it and being from the mid 1980s, it means the ST16 has been around longer than I thought.

I have a steel DJ with ST16 from late 1990s/early 2000 from a dealer called 'Cal' (it was $55). Up until now, the DJ was the oldest ST16 I had seen.

wow! i remember having one of them it looked good but soon turned my wrist green or black cant remember which, mine was automatic and cost 15£ in the uk but they were exchanging hands for between 50 and 100£ in the mid 1980s fake rolex and a luxuary car keytag and a mobile phone the size of a house brick!was the in thing! Ha Ha these rolexes are the real fake watches not todays solid stainless steel, swiss movement and version 5 plus, plus water resist watches! we never had it so good today! when people complain about there new replica watch they should see these watches to see how there were then!

  17. I have found that all my reps divers watches except one can be used in water a 1665 comex failed because of a cracked crystal hidden under the bezel as soon as i get my new watch i take out the dial and movement tighten the backcase and crown and submerge the watch over night in a watertank! then when this is done put it back together grease all seals then take it down to get it pressure tested,

paying top $$ for you rep does not mean it is waterproof, my 300 $ 1665 was not but a friend of mine who is a diver used a 20usd comex rep bought from a hongkong street seller and it survived a 100m dive! his three divers watches cost him over 4,000usd each.

most good repsellers are not willing to guarantee water resistance even though most good reps are, except sites like trusty where they have watches pressure tested/serviced for an extra charge
