  1. Question when is a rep not a rep? well i dont know but this watch i wear during the summer i think its a cool looking divers watch ,sporty classic good looks and you can dive with it! and it has a helium escape valve, these have been used and tested by divers a big 43mm diam. saphire crystal from the german tauchmiester company with japanese automatic movement and here is what this watch was based on 1980ish seiko
  2. thanks jmb for you info and and think you are correct about the scrappage idea!!! iv decided with this watch to have george loiz custom make me a compression ring and a new flat style crystal with a T-19 beveled edge to look similar to the T-19 i will keep you posted when its done and mabe post some pics thanks again for your help!!!
  3. thanks ubiquitous you have been very helpful, mine doesst have this nylon gasket i have been down to george loiz shop and he is going to make me a cystal flat style with the edges beveled to look like the T-19 and has already made me a new retaining ring, for the crystal ,thanks again your info will be useful for my new sd same case as the comex!!!!
  4. thanks alligoat i get down to george loiz shop and well check the size, trustys site i think says they have interchangable parts so i will try if not then i will get george to make me a crystal i like the case on this version im also planning to put in a yuki escape valve and a slow beat 2846 eta, not sure about the yuki dial for fitting in this case thanks again!
  5. My 1665 trusty comex (latest version) submariner crystal has cracked! and i never liked this crystal because it distorted the dial to much i realize that it was designed for easy reading, underwater. i love the tropic-19 i like the high flat top with a distortion only on its edges will this crystal fit on this case? if not has anybody fitted other tropics on this case any feedback will be appreciated thanks!
  6. yes iv never had a problem with "andrew" shipped watches,no import duty,no vat!no issues!!!
  7. Im wearing my 6538 in sunny cyprus! lazy day just drivin!
  8. hi there if you are going to buy a yukicase wait a while yukiwatch is developing an adaptor so that the yukicase can have fitted a eta 28xx and eta 27xx, im in regular contact with them ,yuki hopes to have ready this adaptor in a month or so this adaptor he told me can be removed later if you ever want to upgrade to gen movement dont worry about yuki cases they are made to gen specs i prefer to buy all parts from yuki to ensure a good fit! i have fitted other braclets onto a yuki case no problems!
  9. i have no idea but it looks old its looks like a pilots/military watch take a look at wernersflyinwatches.com to see similar watches look at the pilots watch section they have some reproduction watch with similar styling!
  10. well its getting to be a chore everyday choosing which watch to wear today!!!! well i should have been wearing one of these babys! But i was being unfaithful today! and wore this a seiko clone but usable divers watch this watch has been DEEP! DEEP! DEEP!
  11. Thanks brendo22 thats great i will do that thanks for the photo should look good and on mine too! i prefer to put the crystal on if poss without the watch press the last time we put a crystal with a press i cracked a good t-19!!!! i dont mind the profile on my 1665 its the magification i hate! Thanks again!
  12. iv heard about this practice from a ex navy (guy)that the military watchmakers used women to relume watches licking the paintbrush tip, its unbelievable that even back then, that they dident warned them about the dangers
  13. hi there creations88 great watch! my comex sub 1665 from trusty has a similar dome crystal i also want to replace it distorts the dial too much i want to replace it with a t-19 but i dont think it will fit,and tone down the overbright dot markers that are buggin me!
  14. hi marc jacobs great watch youv built i sent a email to yuki suggesting they should feature customers completed watches so people can see how they look finished yuki liked the suggestion and now features our watches on there site! aeromatic!
  15. Indeed you are correct rolex used radium lume in there early rolex subs then it was switched for tritium which was much safer!
  16. Thanks teejay i will go with the the matt varnish how did you apply it with a small paint brush? its the waterbased one? i aged my case wearing the watch while i was doing some diy building work (house bricks contact)and then i used autosol metal polish, to polish out the surface scratches on my 5508 case i polished up later the top of the lugs as i have seen this happen on vintage gen subs it looked great! thanks again
  17. i was thinking the same thing today! weird!! not sure actually if the electric blue inserts would look good has anyone ever tried it!
  18. Great work there i love the explorer and the tudor i want to do some dial work on my 5512 i was thinking about a relume and or using matt varnish on the dial to age it, any tips on doing this would be appreciated, actually the dial looks better than my 1665 comex, the comex yellow dots are too bright and too new looking, so may do the 1665 as well i was going to replace the dial but i do like this dial on the 5512 my 5512 eta 2783 powered slow beat! my comex submariner the only part iv aged so far on this is the crystal(with a 3m scouring pad)
  19. Well looks great so we have to play a bit here and there but thats the fun of our hobby wheres the fun if it was perfect!! these factory turned out vintage reps will have small bits here and there that will bug us,which ever watch we buy you may land on a good one or not, but it doesnt mean that every watch has these defects ok things like the crown being to big these can be sorted by feedback to the seller. we will always have a quality that is hit & miss at these prices, anything that is less than perfect for higher priced watches or parts can not be accepted so lets see who can turn out the best franken from these two sellers !!!!
  20. [quote name='TeeJay' Hello George Loiz, I'm a fan of your customizing work I have to admit, personally, I have never found the 'rattle traps' very effective in marking up a watch... I've always preferred to grind the bracelet/case against house bricks or ceramic tile edges, and even used the blade of a pair of scissors in a slicing motion to put gouges into a case. Of course, that will all seriously scuff up a case, but by re-finishing the case with a 4-surface nail buffer, it blends them all in nicely for a more subtle effect
