I was wondering something about the Asian 6497, the movement is about 25$ so is it worth make it serviced (don't know exactly the price but not cheap i guess) or wait untill he died & buy again a 25$ movement ? I will see how many months/years my 6497 work but i think i will choose the replacement solution

I agree, but i hope Panerai won't become like Hublot, like 5 "Special Editions" by year with just a tiny difference in the dial

My first Panerai: 005G (with mods & pics)
HeadToucha replied to HeadToucha's topic in The Panerai Area
Thanks guys! Ok tx here are the specs: for the dial...well we have the same ^^, cg from ToroBravo, crown is the new "opcrown", relume full C1 done by fleed, AR done by Uwe from RWI & strap by Gorilla And the "G" caseback friendly found & switch by Hont before the shipping. -
Hi guys, Here is my first Pam, she has not left my wrist since i got her back from modding... Now some pics ^^
-
Nice Pete, i don't know the specs but the second one definitely have a gen dial
-
Thanks guys By plastic you mean "hesalite" i suppose ? The crystal is not "old school" like hesalite but i like it, not flat and scratch resistant True, and i knew about the subdial spacing flaw but definitely happy to see it on my wrist ^^ And the Speedy with new movement which correct the spacing problem become more & more a rumor or a fantasm

Hi guys, Here is the first rep i bought months ago, and now i find her perfect with some mods, so thanks to: Fine DD: AR Coating (in some angle with the sun i couldn't tell the time... not very convenient for a watch ^^) fleed: relume ( i couldn't stand the greenish lume on daylight, so relume with C1) Donerix: strap ( a gorobo strap, i like the handmade look, the thickness and i didn't wanna spend 150

Thanks b, If i understand well, the H-series is more curved/raised like the gen ? The one i have is a G-serie but without the black paint on the inscriptions. Anyway i hope i can introduce my 005 here soon -

The El caseback for 005 you are talking about, anybody has a pic to show ? I'm curious to see one coze i got a 005 caseback & i could see the differences -
To be sure i would say contact Toro & ask him ?

On RWG it's true you ain't got much strapmaker but i would not recommand you to buy a strap from a watch dealer (look verry cheap imo). But if you don't wanna spend 80$ or wait for a strap, look on ebay, "BOB" strap is ok for the price or site like: http://www.panatime.com/ http://www.thewatchprince.com/

The 111 is 24mn to the lug, so your can choose a 24/24( lug/buckle) or 24/22 strap. For Panerai you got tons of strap & strapmakers, like deniz said for example. It depends on the price and if you can wait until a strapmaker make you a custom one, you got some in the dealers list. Enjoy

Ok guys sorry for digging this old topic but i have a noob question for my first pam... As you see the crown sit too far from the case and it's not because of the stem length, so i wanted to know when you talk about the "crown tube" it means the tube where the stem goes threw to enter in the case right ?( cercle in red in the pic ?) If yes and if i'm sand it down will the crown be as maintained as before? no problem for the wind/set time positions ? Thanks
-
I am also more conservative in my choice of strap but i kind of like the tuna leather one. P.S: Nice "jean strap" on pic 3 ^^

Nice base dial Dave....again ^^ (love your 000 too) but the white lume job on this one make it way more "gen like" -
i believe they don't offer a mix cg brushed/plished but hey, pm TB & Sead and ask them, may be they can refinish it before send it to you. If not it's not the hardest thing to do imo, take of the lever and turn polished into brushed with a scotch brite pad for example.
-
Hey Scotty, To refinishing a cg i used a Scotch brite pad to refinish the brushed, if the scratches are light maybe it would make them less visible And to push the 196 pin home i see on RG that you can use a pen: Of course the best way is to use a bracelet tool like this: I use this excellent post of houndoggie on RG: http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=73173 P.S: nice Mac Gyver's style with your hammer and toilet paper technique
-
Yep, nice collection & i love your 000...like you said, no more dial like this is produced, what a shame!!
-
Yep, sometimes i was sure it looked a little rounded and sometimes looked definitly flat Thanks again for the precision m8
-
Thanks babola BTW, is the CP top supposed to be totally flat in gen ? i can't tell for sure looking at pictures.
-
Thanks for the precision, but it's beyond my watch skills i guess i will take the easy Getat solution
-
Thanks Andy, my memory was to shave down the hands or something like that ? But if it means new parts to buy i guess a new 6497 with H3(like Getat) will be almost cheaper & i will have an extra movement.
-
Hi guys, I dont't know if i'm dreaming but i got a memory about red a post to have the cannon pin flushed with the hands without install the H3 ? But i don't find it anymore & don't remember the process... If someone know about it... let me know Thanks
