  1. The $188 Sub from Andrew looks to me like the exact same watch as the noobmariner with a turbocharged Swiss movement powering it! I have both watches and can only tell the difference by the slightly better positioning of the datefont on the Swiss version.
  2. Hmm crown guards and bezel are different in the 2 pictures, think I'll put my wallet away!!
  3. Hi there, just wondering about something i have notices on a movement in my PAM. Not sure if its supposed to do this or not so I suppose i better ask and put my fears to rest. Sorry for the poor description but I am unsure of the techie names for parts. Watch has a hand wind Asian ETA 3497. Through the see through caseback of the watch I can see to silver toothed gears that When I wind the watch the both turn. Both these gears have screws in the middle of them. When I wind the watch the screw in the middle of the smaller wheel stays stationary. However the screw in the middle of the larger wheel turns partially with the rotation of the wheel. I have tried tightenening both (one is a left hand thread) and they are bothwhat I would consider reasonably tight. I am just wondering if the screw in the larger wheel is suppose dto be doing this or should it also be staying sttionary? Thanks in advance for any help! Will
  4. I have both the Noobmariner and Trusty's $188 swiss ETA Sub. As far as I can tell from the exterior they are exactly the same, the only difference visually I can see is that the Swiss ETA has a very slightly smoother second hand sweep and even that is very marginal! To answer the original question, buy 2, then buy a Bond nato strap and stick it on one of them. Wear one on the left arm and one on the right arm! (gargoil accepts no responsibility for the slagging you will get from your mates for wearing two watches at once!)
  5. I have a gen SMP and am very tempted just to get a rep of it ust to compare the two of them together as the gen is such a heavy "substantial" watch. from the pictures it looks like the rep might be also! Love the group shot, Show us more!!!
  6. Fake, dots at hour markers don't have the silver perimeter round them on the gen. Hands actually look ok!!!
  7. I think that the replacemenmt of the cannon pin may be beyond my skills at the moment. I notice that davidsen has a set of "capped" hands that can solve the problem and think that this may be the best option for me! Thanks for the help The Zigmeister!! Will
  8. Cheers The Zigmeister, I also found V's excellent home movies on disassembly etc.
  9. Ok Ill start off by saying I've never taken a watch apart before so this should be interesting. The watch in question is a PAM 036. Movement is a Swiss ETA. The reason I need to take the watch apart is that the hands appear to be at a slight angle and not parallel to the dial. IE The hands are angled up slightly from the centre of the watch. I could live with it but its started to bug me. I understand what I have to do is remove the back of the watch, remove the crown, remove the movement/dial, adjust the hands and reinsert. Just want to ask a few questions before I tackle this in case I encounter any problems. I have already had the case back off and I can see that I have to remove a few small screws to remove the movement. I also see a very small screw next to the crown pin (Sorry don't know the correct term for this!) Do I remove this and just pull the crown/pin out? How much force should this take or should it just pop out? Should I encounter many problems adjusting the hands or is it a matter of just pressing them down with a small amount of force with a pair of tweezers or am I better removing them and reattaching? Any other advice or pointers to information on th eforum would be much appreciated!! Cheers, Will
  10. Those pictures are of 2 different watches are they not? Check the markers out, most noticeable at the 12 position!!
  11. In case anyone missed it.... I was riolling around on the floor laughing at this. Goal of the season?
  12. Fantastic result against France, was at the game was fantastic. Atmosphere was amazing, sitting right next to the French fans. After the game was trying to explain to a few French supporters why we were chanting "easy, easy, easy!!" They didn't quite get it!! Great atmosphere in the city after the game, some good banter between the French and Scots! Guess we're unofficial world champs now as we beat France who beat Italy recently!!!! Bring on the Ukraine, in fact bring on anybody!!!
  13. Well I think I'll just keep that quite and stick about! Am off to find info on whats Panerai reps are available for a lefty!
  14. lol! Should I admit I'm a Rangers fan Jon or should I just get my cost?
  15. Hi guys!! Just ordered my first replica, a Panerai from trustmytime.com. Can't wait for it to arrive now! Am just about to order a few straps for it. I have the feeling I will be buying a few more watches shortly. Daily I wear a genuine Omega Seamaster Pro (James Bond One) but has been in getting serviced for the past month (Why do they take so long!?!?) and miss not having a watch as I'm constantly looking at the time. Was originally gonna buy a genuine Panerai but coudn't really justify paying sevral grand for a "dress" watch I'll only wear when I'm going out ! Quite fancy an old style Rolex Submariner and an Omega Planet Ocean next. Been reading up on all this on this site (great site by the way!) and think the gen 4 Planet Ocean may be my next purchase!!! Cheers! Will
