A 1016 build is a doddle! Putting a 1675 together means finding a suitable GMT movement, fiddling with the extra hand, finding the right bezel assembly and insert...

Cool..would a Yuki dial be sufficient for the build? I'll most probably go for a Narikaa 1016, get a nicer dial, get a higher Clark crystal, age the entire watch (other than the movement) and call it a day!

Following my earlier review on the Yachtmaster 16622, I decided to make yet another review on one of my other favorite series, the Explorer.

I started out originally with the Explorer 14270 as it has been reported to be one of the most accurate reps out of box..true enough it was and still is..However being at a dress size of 36mm, and especially after being bitten by the PAM bug, it seemed a tad small..

Luckily enough, Rolex went thru a modernization of most of their models (Submariner, Milgauss, Explorer & Explorer II, DateJust, you get the pic )

One thing that stood out for me was the fact that the dial on the 214270 was matte..at least I still get to see the dial on a sunny day rather than a double whammy of sapphire crystal and gloss dial reflecting light back at me..

This write-up will be a simple comparison of gen and rep thru pictures..Gen pics will not have any white borders and will always be below rep pics..

This was purchased with one of our Trusted Dealers, Angus, or PureTime (link will be provided at the bottom of the review)..

Height of crystal is slightly lower on the rep as compared with the gen..maybe about 0.5mm or lesser..

Dial..Font looks crisp and in similar size to the gen..'Swiss Made' is also correctly placed at the 6 o'clock marker..

Close up of Markers and hands..the hands, especially the hour hand is not accurate but with the amount of 'personalization' being done on Gen Rolex watches, you can get away with this tell with the 'I prefer larger hands" excuse, if you are ever called out.. :cool:

Rehaut engraving font is different and not completely aligned..Engraving is not as deep as the gen..

The Explorer utilizes the TwinLock system..looks pretty good on the rep..

Bezel is fixed so no worries on whether it is uni or bi-directional..no crown guards either..

SEL bracelet fit nicely onto the case..Clasp works well and engravings are quite deep..screws are also quite decent..

Movement runs very smoothly and has been giving me accurate time (I sync it with my Mac Clock)..Power Reserve has exceeded more than 36 hours for this..I usually do not test any further once it passes this timeframe..

Shutter speed for the lume shots are between 0.5 and 2secs..

Mods did to the watch so far:

1. Light polishing of the rehaut so that it has a much deeper shine, as per gen (done by Taka)

2. Matte Spray Mod on the dial, as per gen (done by Taka)

3. Rebrushing and polishing of the bracelet to show a more satin finish

4. Filling in the engraving on the clasp with a black sharpie

5. Relube all seals and tighten up caseback

My love for the Yachtmaster started whilst going thru BK's section..soon after I started doing some research on this timepiece..to the untrained eye, it looks like just another 'bling' watch, in fact my missus said it looked like just a Tag Heuer

What I love about the YM was the fact that the dial sparkled and that red seconds hand stood out very smartly against the light greyish textured dial..

That set me off on my mission to find a YM that would make me happy wearing it, without paying gen dollars for it..The BK WM9 YM would easily cost about US$1k but even then, pieces put on the sales section were few and rare..

I look elsewhere to other Trusted Dealers in hope that there would be a YM that would fit the bill for me but none managed to..I kept on searching and did so for a few months, until I stumbled across this thread from PatekFreak (RG):

He did a nice review on this and I got hooked almost immediately..could this be better than what was offered by the cartel?

I PM-ed Angus and soon enough, with his assurance that the SA3135 movement was reliable, I placed my order and awaited the arrival of the watch..

5 days later, the watch was on my wrist and looked the part..I am now currently contemplating installing gen dial and hands..

The movement is currently gaining about 10secs per week..or about 1.5secs/day..that's good enough for me..I couldn't be happier

Enough said, here are the pictures of the SA3135 Rolex Yachtmaster 'Rolesium' 16622 from Angus (PureTime)..

Rehaut thickness and depth seem alright to me..no wokky rehaut or misaligned engraving here..

Dial looks really good and whenever I'm wearing it, I always am trying to catch that sparkle on the dial..this happens almost everytime I wear it..

Here's a Gen dial for comparison:

Markers look well-sized, font looks crisp..Red lettering seems a bit brighter on the rep..same goes with the seconds hand..not to sure if it is due to the lighting though..you guys be the judge..

Datewheel and cyclops are where they should be..although the datewheel could be adjusted just alil to the right to be more centered..

Bezel is bi-directional and has the triple-lock, like the gen..seems well-machined with defined edges..

Crystal height is slightly higher compared with the gen..

Bezel insert is very nicely done..this shows the polished and satin finish on it..

Crownguards (in my opinion) are quite well replicated..this pic also shows that the rep Crown is slightly thicker than the gen..

Clasp is also well made and engravings are quite deep..SEL bracelet fit perfectly onto the case and screws are nice and flushed..

This is the same with the caseback and its engravings..

Here's the SA 3135:

Power Reserve has easily gone more than 36hours..didn't test it any further though..

Handwinding the movement is slightly louder compared with my gen 3185 movement..date and time changes feel very solid and firm..very comparable to a swiss ETA in my opinion..

Comparing DSN's CG to Sead's CG, it is slightly thinner and not as accurate compared with the gen..Sead's CG will give a much better overall appearance to the watch..however having said that, there will some filing necessary to make the CG fit to the case OR the case to the CG (depending on which you prefer to file)..

25A & 25D is a sub to have...commands big presence yet retaining the lightness of titanium...

yes the crown does seat a little low (about 0.5-1mm) but not very noticable..

Contact Davidsen...i believe he changed the crown on the 25 and 24s to the slightly thicker one..

Got it locally at a watch shop called Gnonmon watches..i hope i got the shop name spelt correctly..do a google search..u shld come up with it..

Oh and they sell alot of other straps s well and also ship internationally i believe..
