  1. I'm actually swapping the dial and replacing the hands on a genuine omega movement. I'm so scared~! Damn. Where are you located marrick?

Well the good news is that if you are putting on a new dial and hands, it won't matter if you screw up the old dial and hands pulling them off as they won't be going back on anyway.

Also if you are worried about hands flying when using the dial lift method I would imagine a piece of tape or something stuck on top of the hands would keep them from flying far and let you find them again easily in any circumstance... just put watch paper down first so the tape doesn't stick to the dial...

  2. 4 last time, 6 this time... in all fairness one shipment of 4 did make it through unscathed (it was part of the original order of 8 which got split up).

While I do believe it may be safer to ship 1 or 2 at a time, I still don't get how ANY watches get taxed and pass through...

  3. So I got PP today and the leather strap is upside down (buckle at 6) so I figure, no problem.. just flip it around... except there is no room to get a springbar tool in next to the band... this is probably pretty silly, but how does one go about getting a leather strap out from between the lugs? :black_eye:

  4. Yeah, well I guess I better start shipping to a different address or something... I have talked to Jay and while he is surprised as it is very rare to be taxed at all through SFO (let alone twice) he has some ideas that may help avoid future problems if it really is more than bad luck... I guess only time will tell...

  5. @TTK Worse than welding spatter? Yes. Something Silix could have caught with a 5x loupe? I don't think so... but then he never said he would ;)

As for my statistics... Jay told me he has seen someone get taxed 3 times in his whole time selling watches. Guess we better up that to 5...

@kruzer From all accounts I have heard (from dealers) that being taxed is very rare... as for being on a list... got orders from TTK, Josh, Andrew, Angus and EL... no problems... so that leaves Jay... I would think we would have heard about it by now from his customers if he was on a list...

At this point I guess I better not feel safe even standing in the spot lightening just struck...

  6. That sucks At least you got your watches. I just ordered 2 tt subs from andrew Almost $600. I asked him to ship them separate he said they only ship one parcel with a order of two watches. I really hope I just get stuck with taxes if anything arises but with my luck they'll take the whole parcel

Did you offer to pay extra shipping for the second one? I can't see why he would' say no if you did... I ordered a few watches from Andrew and they came through just fine to this address so keep the fingers crossed.

  7. Last time it was declared "properly" (I won't say exactly what but it seems within the norm) and this time like I said I haven't picked it up yet...

I am wondering if it's worthwhile to have them declare something like $90 so I pay some taxes on it, but maybe customs won't bother looking to verify...

It's just weird because from what I hear, getting taxed is very rare... either it's confiscated or it's not... the only reason I suspect it might be the shipper is that I have gotten watches from other dealers fine to this address, so my address isn't flagged... yet this rare occurance now twice... :(

  8. Last time it just said tax... dont think it listed any reason why...

I didn't have my check book on me this time so it's back at the PO waiting for me to pick it up... will see then...

Either way it does suck... a lot...

EDIT for the record this is not a knock on Silix... they have given me good service so far... could just be bad luck... just really bad luck...

  9. Second order from Silix... first order got hit with a $74 COD... I guess customs either decided $74 was correct tax on $15000 worth of legit watches, or just charged taxes on fake watches and let me through...

Today the second one comes... I knew it was trouble after it spend 2 weekdays and the whole weekend in customs (most of my other orders go through in minutes or hours) $121...

    Friggin customs gets me again!

Sorry, nothing creative here... just a frustrated rant... I have to wonder if they have Silix's drop shippers address or something because that's 2 for 2 from him that have been taxed... :(

  10. Andrews site has bean updated!

    http://www.ttwristwatch.com/index.php?main...products_id=985

What will happen to use that have already bought the watch?

What was updated? It looks the same to me...

I am a little confused by this post as the movement pictured is not a Seagull st18. I have no idea what movement is pictured. Anyone have any idea?

That's the problem... I don't think anyone does... it's some weird movement out of no where that is 21jewels and 28k beat... and that's about all we know...

  11. Is this what you mean?

EDIT after more looking the actual print is aligned properly... because when I put the crown in dateset and set the date that way, the date font lines up properly. The little gear at 4:OO is working ok and if it lines up the date I would think that means the datewheel is ligned up..

It's the little wheel at 10:00 that adjust the date when the hands roll over 12 that is not doing the same job right...

  12. So I am tinkering with my PO... managed to get the keyless works reset after pullig it in the wrong position... but notice now the date is missaligned (I am actually not sure if it was this way before or not... might well have been) so looking at it the little notch that pushes the date wheel around seems to simply slip off the notch in the datewheel too early...

It looks almost like the spring that locks the datewheel in place should be helping to push the datewheel along a bit further as if I manually rotate the datewheel with my finger when it properly lines up the spring locks into place.

Any advice on how to fix this? I would estimate the dates are stopping about 10% short of being properly aligned, the top bar on a the 7 is completely invisible when it's in the window.

    Thanks for any advice!
