  1. Interestingly, I bought a WCT from the owner, Howard Marx 15 years ago or so. Hands and dial he put in my watch were from the last batch of fresh tritium lume. The dial and hands were Rolex Sub/Gmt style.

I've owned and still own several Marathon watches that glow pretty nicely.

And of course I own a bunch of Superluminova watches that glow amazingly. The Zenith pilot comes to mind for super crazy lume.

...But NOTHING is like the WCT I had with fresh tritium lume. It glowed like freaking fire!!! Seriously like it was on fire! And it cast a crazy bright amount of light, so much so that I could read a book in the dark easily with no problem.

My '67 Rolex GMT must've looked amazing in the dark back when grandpa bought it new in 1967!!

Seiko's proprietary lume, tritium tubes, Superluminova... None of these glow like freshly slathered-on tritium paint.

I'm happy I got a chance to experience the stuff technically I assume after it was banned the world over.

    Cheers

  2. How many are here from the inception in 2006? Or even before that... Still on but I've never been much for posting.

I'm 1999/2000. I was a proud member of TRC and of the first incarnation of RWG (pre-2006 era). To me, this is still the best place on the net. The wealth of info, quality of content and wonderful people are what it's all about.

  3. A true gen rep from a gen RWG'r.

Nice to see you & the Sub, Euno.

    Hello ol' pal :)

I figured there would be some folks who'd get a kick out of this watch.

It's been aging like a lovely fine bottle of wine (albeit in a drawer), for close to a couple of decades.

    Cheers to this great community!

  4. Half a story! What's your daily driver??!

It's a lovingly restored widebody Carrera. It's actually not a car, it's like a horse with a distinctly strong personality. If I'm good to it, it won't throw me off the saddle. If I mistreat it, it will kill me. It makes the daily drive my favorite part of every day :)

  5. I'm daily driving a car that has no power steering, no traction control, no power brakes and no computer assist anywhere aside from the first year Bosch motronic fuel injection. I've been riding this animal for a few years daily now after a full restoration. Yes, it's loud, has no Bluetooth, no power locks, no decent AC, only manual seats, no back seats, no air bags... And no it's not a tractor! And yes it drives like an angry bat outta hell! Life is short, have a little fun!

  6. I can take it apart myself but I was hoping to simply order up a correct stem and do the install myself. My watchmaker is generally quite busy and he is permanently scarred by me bringing him 4 v72 DW projects many years ago. None of the parts fit well etc. it was in his words, a nightmare hehehe. Ahhhh those first batch parts were less than exacting in tolerance etc

    Cheers

  7. I can't get the stem out because it is severed right at the keyless works.

The funny thing is that this watch is from the first batch DW ever made... And it has been the most mysterious watch I've ever owned lol! The stem broke a few weeks into initial ownership.

Shedding light on esoteric info is what this watch represents to me.

    The mystery continues :)
