  1. You might be able to pick that up cheap in a few months. Inventory blowout to make room for the new models. You think gas is expensive? How much would you think a shuttle launch would cost? Fuel comsumption: Main Engines burn for approximately 8.24 minutes: Oxygen: 143,060 gal / 8.24 = 289.24 gal/sec Hydrogen: 383, 066 gal / 8.24 = 774.80 gal/sec Solid Rockets bur for approximately 2.00 minutes: 1,100,000 lbs of fuel in each / 2 = 18333 lbs/sec
  2. I think I'll stick with the Nautical theme. I'll take this! Motor Yacht Alexander Description Alexander is a 121.95-metre motor yacht. She started life in 1965 as a passenger vessel built by Flender Werft in in Lubeck, Germany. After several changes of ownership she was converted into a superyacht by a Greek shipping tycoon and is currently listed at number 14 in the latest Boat International chart of the world's largest 100 superyachts. Extensively refitted in 1985 and again in 1998, she offers well-appointed accommodation for up to 60 guests. This superyacht's facilities include a swimming pool, hospital, gymnasium, a 27 seat cinema and a beauty salon. Alexander is listed for sale on boatinternational.com by Ocean Independence asking €45 million. That's $62,000,000 USD
  3. Very nice chef...That's what I'm talkin about!
  4. I agree with all these statements. Sweet! I really look forward to seeing these pix!
  5. Thanks again for a great reply Pete! I was leaning toward a more modern DLC because of a lot of the reasons you listed above, but I am still in the decision stage and nothing's for sure yet. I just accepted QC pix on a 111J from Tony (Asian7750) and I'm waiting to see the quality of the caseset when it arrives. I'm hoping the CG on this one is much better than the piece of crap CG on my first 111J from a different seller. It looks good in the QC shots, but so did my first one. This is the caseset that is my leading candidate at the moment. I also have a very nice old cartel 111H case, a V-CG, and a WO99 CG on the way. So, I have a few different combos to choose from, especially if you throw in the H-factory 005 case. I'll be keeping a close eye on this forum for others PVD/DLC projects. Thanks again to all! Mike
  6. Yeah, I like the look of the 360 a lot, I'm just not sure I want to own a rep of that particular watch given it's reason for being and what it represents. I kind of go back and forth on this though and I haven't completely ruled it out. As for the 005, I know there are a lot of gen owners that have their watches DLCed, I just doubt that many change their lume color, so it would be kind of weird seeing a DLCed, orange lumed, 005. Decisions, decisions... That's a thought, I'm just not real good at waiting around for something that may never come. First of all Pete, I really enjoy it when you ramble on and on. Please don't ever stop. I'm learning a ton from your ramblings! Second of all, how come I knew you would have something to say about my being nuts? As for DLCing the H-factory case, I noticed that rolli just bought one in the sales forum that I'm hoping he's going to attempt to coat. Maybe we'll all learn how worthy it is to coating real soon. I'd really like to do a vintage, but I wanted to do a DLC case, and to be accurate, wouldn't a vintage need to be PVDed? Plus, I was just thinking that using parts on hand would be a lot easier than trying to acquire the parts needed for a vintage build (I do realize that it's not that tough to find these parts though.). Can't wait to see what you have planned! Anyway, thanks to all for the input!
  7. So I've been wanting to do a DLC PAM for a long time. I'm trying to decide what I want to do. I love the overall look of the 360. I also love the new 005. I thought of going for a straight DLC 005, but one of my favorite things about the 360 is the orange lume. Would I be nuts to do a 005, but have Zig or Vac change the dial and hands to orange lume (assuming that's possible on a 005 dial)? I was planning to start with a 111J case set, but If I go the 005 route, I may use that case instead (providing our DLC guys don't advise against it). I'm not even close to a decision yet, just kicking some thoughts around. Are any of you planning PVD/DLC projects with one of the new PAM cases? If so, what formula are you thinking about? Thanks for your thoughts, Mike
  8. I ask because I was actually a little disappointed by the lume on mine. I have a built 111H that uses a Zig lumed little hero dial and it glows quite a bit better than my new 005. Is Zig's lume just better than gen?
  9. LOL...yeah...I think this hobby is suited for guys like us.
  10. My kind of PETA! I've often said "If God didn't want us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them taste so good!".
  11. Is this a PETA sponsored event? Looks like a lot of fun!
  12. Yeah...I tend to get kind of anal with these things. I've actually put watches in my watch box out of frustration that one minute detail was too far off from gen and not worn the watch for several months. Then I would pull it out, put it on, and think "Damn, this is a NICE watch! Now, why did I put this thing away for so long?". Actually forgetting what that tiny flaw was and totally enjoy wearing the watch... ...It's a sickness, I know...
  13. Yeah...that's why your comparison shots are great Pete, because you don't have to wonder how different light, camera/lens combo, aperture and exposure settings can create illusions in the pictures. The only suggestion I might make is that if you do comparison shots again, maybe you could place the camera on a tripod, place each case separately on a marked spot on the surface you are you are photographing on, and shoot them one at a time. Don't get me wrong, your shots are great and I thank you for them as I've referenced them several times, but all wide angle lenses have some degree of barrel distortion that increases as you move further out from center. So, the 2 cases on the outside will have this affect applied similarly and can be accurately compared to each other, but the case in the middle will appear slightly different (usually shorter and fatter) than the outside cases. I'm going to try this method over the weekend with the 005 and 111J cases, but unfortunately, I don't have a gen case to add to the mix, but I think I will add an old 111H case to the shoot.
  14. +1 BTW, I downloaded a pic of an M series 000 that is a very similar angle to one of my shots from last night. I realize the M serial has a roller CG, but i thought the profile of these 2 shots was pretty damn close. Forgive the shallow depth of field in my shot. It is pretty dark in my office so I shot this at f/1.8. Gen 000M
