Planet Ocean- but when it comes to Apogaum watches, 'just say no'. I'm out the door right now, but I could tell three horror stories and post pics that would make you think twice about ordering one. Good luck, Arty

This is still 'super-glued' to my wrist, and is keeping perfect time since I received it on Monday...
Ciao, Arty

This today...like yesterday...and the day before.
I have to find a way to get this off my wrist...
HFC- I really like that watch! I'll bet you have done some research about the Gen that it was modeled after (if there was one)- care to share? Wear it well, Arty

Arty, this is what your image says, on clicking on it directly (it doesn't show up on the forum):
"Access Denied - Account Disabled

Just a head's up.
Thanks Victoria. I wonder why it works for me? Can anyone else see it? I'll try this:
Best regards, Arty

This just arrived after being 'stuck in customs' for the past several weeks, I think I like it...

Oh, that's just awful. If you're going to wear a watch that's that fugly, at least be able to offer a reason why it is that way. Case and point- this Romain Jerome is available for $7800- $173,000 USD since it uses steel from the sunken 'Titanic'. I wouldn't wear it either, but I guess it would make a great conversation piece!
Good evening, Arty

I think this one will do for today...

Arty -- Oops. Sorry to hear about the problems with your watch, but I am sure you will be able to get them sorted out. Josh has some very nice Lemania/Venus-based manual-wind vintage Daytonas, but mine are home-built franken-tonas which I constructed out of the following: case/hands from 'DW' (use the Search to locate a wealth of information on 'DW Daytona' kits); pushers (part no. PD 61.701 white) from Ofrei.com; New Old Stock (NOS) genuine Rolex: 6mm Twinlock crown/crown tube, Tropic 21 crystal & 19mm springbars collected from ebay & other sources; & an old 7835/357 folded link bracelet/end links set that I purchased on ebay & refurbished.
Depending on your patience, watchsmithing competence, parts selection & care (as well as luck), it is possible to produce a vintage Daytona that is almost identical to a gen in both appearance & function. This is my 6239 posing next to a gen 6239 that appeared in the special Rolex Edition of Watchtime magazine a few months ago. You can judge the final result for yourself
I (and others) have posted numerous reviews, mini-tutorials & expos

Thanks Arty.
Are you really out there on Catalina? How many fires could you see at night two weeks ago?
It was a nightmare. We were evacuated, and my wife and I stayed with my Uncle in Oakland. When we returned, our house was fine, but two of my nearby neighbors had $100,000+ damage to their homes. Lots of talk about permanent scars to the island, but I think we will recover in time. Thanks for asking, Arty

Lots of Daytona talk on the forum lately....Got the juices flowing:
Aww, you're killing me avitt. Beautiful holy grail you've got there! Arty

Waiting for an Explorer II white dial from a secret self-trusted source- will post pics when it arrives. Until then it's this one for the weekend, older pic from earlier this month...
Hope your Dad is doing better VB. My close step Mom is in the hospital hanging on by a thread, I know how you must feel. Ciao, Arty

I'll stick with this until I get tired of the strap...
...then I'll switch to this-
...and 'wind up' the weekend with this-
Best to all! Arty

This one for me...

Those are good, and one is too. Just received as a gift...
Has different views of crystals, pictures of original owner's manuals, different bracelets, movement reference numbers, and tons of other stuff. Ciao, Arty

Paul Newman 6241 today
Freddy- Where did this come from? I ordered one from Josh but with screw-down pushers and arrived with a blue-ish glass crystal not plexi, a blackened coronet logo on the dial instead of silver, not to mention the bottom pusher fell out. I also forgot to check the case dimensions- the gen is 37 or 38mm, Josh's is 40mm. How does this one compare with regards to those details? Thanks, Arty

Vb-
One of my co-workers knows that I wear (what appear to be) expensive watches every day. He asked me why I did, since cell phones and other electronic devices many people carry, can provide the correct time at any given moment. For me, it boils down to something a famous radio personality said once- maybe Paul Harvey- that if you pay more than $30 (?) for a wristwatch, you are buying it to be worn as jewelry.
I know you're a PAM enthusiast, but wouldn't Sienna have looked better in that photo (other than the underwear) if she was wearing one of these?

Joshua's 5517 on different straps. This one last evening-

I saw that a few weeks ago and was intrigued by it's history and accompanying paperwork. I just didn't like the look of the watch though. Here is one that continues to not sell on the bay, probably because of the price- but more for the non-original dial. I feel it is a superior looking timepiece; with an interesting story at the very least. I'm not sure if this link will work so here is a pic of the watch first...

Yachtie hasn't left my wrist since Andrew so graciously replaced it the other day...Ciao, arty

I'm sure it's nice, albeit too expensive, but without pics, for all we know it looks as good as this rep...C'mon, we'll be gentle!

I don't get it- shouldn't that red sub dial be complimented with magnification for the date? Very nice either way...

Now that you mention it, it does resemble a Chopard caseback- nice observation...Best, Arty
