Dude - where have you been - the 2892-A2 is also covered but in much smaller numbers. The run of these will only be around the 20 or so (I can't remember how many wheels there are) and I know that 3 of them have been taken already however they turn out!!! (and one is mine!!)
Ditto that - I'm too scared to even wear mine now and it's one of my favourites too. Now it will just sit in a drawer gathering dust (assuming the mineral crystal comes back in one piece).
All of you who were hoping for this the bad news is, having risked breakage and loss in post sending him my own mineral glass to copy, Davidsen cannot make the 212 crystal in Sapphire so we are back to square one on this.
Wow that does look very nice. Nice one David. Tamiya matte paint definitely good idea and comes as an aerosol - or how about a second hand from a 212 with the small oval lume hole at the tip.
We need more of you guys to be COMMITTED to this otherwise it will not happen at all. 50 is the minimum number to make this happen - not 45 or 46 but 50 and that has to be guaranteed.
Well all it takes is to suggest a date and see who will put their names down!! We don't have to book a room but if there are enough of us it might be better as London pubs on a Friday night are usually packed to the gills.
I had not realised how many Londoners are here - we had a GTG earlier this year but only 6 of us turned up - we were all worried about showing watches in public but within an hour the table of the Wetherspoons pub was covered in them!!!
A new thread will be started when I get the sample to try out and photograph. I have not wanted to take deposits or money upfront until as it will only complicate things due to the continual delays. Also there seems to have been a problem with some of the black 7753 wheels (not sure exactly what yet) so I need to make sure these 2893 will be perfect.
Hey boys - thanks for all the kind words - as you will have seen I have not completely retired - just needed some space to finish things off and work on some of the ongoing projects and my own things!!
I agree with Chronus that the costs of modding this are a lot unless you can do it all yourself. As a PAM fanatic I have been wearing my SMP for the last few days. I have already re-lumed it and have an ETA datewheel for it but not going to rush into replacing the movt as the asian 7750 so far is performing very well. No transfer gears putting a strain on it and it is keeping very accurate time. I like it a lot!!
Just a quick update here - the company are in the process of printing these now (I had a call from them only today) so it should not be much longer. I will post a photo of a wheel fitted before taking firm orders but get your PP accounts ready as there is a limited number of these and they will sell quite quickly. You might have read that one of the 7753 wheels has not been printed very well - I had not spotted it and it will be corrected but these wheels are not subject to the same problems as the 7753's as I am supplying the wheel ready finished instead of printing your own wheels - so if it's not right then it don't get sold - simple!!!
You might find that these are no longer available - they now come with either ETA or CN 6497 movts. The molnija is a copy of the Cortebert 616 which did not have shock protection so can break if dropped, but the Molnija does have shock protection so that should not be a problem unless dropped very heavily from the top of a tall building or it's owned by Nanuq!!!
Stem replacement is an absolute nightmare on these as the clutch lever in the keyless works slips out of engagement with the clutch and means you have to have the patience of a saint when putting back together.
