  1. Thank you very much Sir B!! You are much more benevolent than I !! I would have dropped the ban hammer on this idiot post haste.

It shows this persons true character, total lack of compassion, no sense of propriety, in a time like this when a fellow member has suffered such a great loss. I have absolutely no tolerance for people like this. If you can't say something positive at a time like this, at least have the common decency to keep your thoughts to yourself.

Having lost my wife of 38 years and both parents, I can say with certainty, at a time like this folks need a strong shoulder to lean on. I certainly have a huge amount of empathy for Mickey and his family during these trying times. I am proud to be a member of this community. And I am gratified by the care and help that has been shown by the vast majority of members here.

Mickey, it takes a long time to heal, friends and family are the most important medicine that can be prescribed for that, and even with all that it is still difficult. Just be assured, we are here and we are here for you.

I'm very sorry for your losses, too. I can't even begin to imagine the pain of losing your partner in crime after so many years, not to mention both parents.
  2. Which bars did you order? I bought some gen spec Startime Supply springbars and they've been working great so far.

A member over on RWI pointed me to these.  He said they are fantastic bars, so I decided to give them a try.  I only have my Yukis as a comparison, so I'll let you know how they compare once they arrive.  I guess a big problem with cheap bars is the internal springs are just weak enough that the pins don't fully extend. You don't even notice it unless you get out a caliper and compare to gen.  I should really get one!   :)

How much are the Startime bars? Do you have to have an account to purchase them?  I had read recently that they stopped selling parts to regular people.

  3. I love the 1675 but I'm a little intimidated by the build. These are tough builds to get right, just because the crown guard shape is so tricky. Are you trying to build a pointed crown guard cornino, or a regular one? I only ask because those cartel crown guards are awful out of the box. It is going to take a lot of work to grind and sand them into an accurate shape for either version. I suppose you said 1976 so that means a regular 1675. I should have looked closer!

A lot of people are taking the 1655 Exp II and using that case as the starting point. You can sell the bezel, dial and hands from it to recoup some of the cost. I don't know if that cg shape is any better as a starting point, but there is something about the 1655 case that is causing people to use it as the base for a 1675.

  4. Hey! This might sound crazy, but it really did work; place a small drop of water on the lens of the iPhone and it turns it into a macro lens.

Cool. I'll try it. How do you keep the water from sliding off if the camera is held vertically or at an angle? I can see that working if you hold it completely flat above the subject you are photographing.
  5. Thank you

    How's your Red coming along?

Slowly but surely. Thanks! I ordered new WSO 580 endlinks and better springbars for it. Next on the list is a new crystal. I'm a huge fan of the T19. I'm also compiling photos of red dials to email over to Dazza to see if he can help me with my dial. The one that @cc33 has is stunning. He's been gracious enough to send me some pics of his.
