  1. Different anyway. Looks like a DLC coating rather than the PVD that you normally see on PAMS.
  2. Most of the TD's can source rep rubber straps, but I'm not sure who sells one that doesn't have any oder. Some of my rubber PAM straps have a rather strong vanilla smell. On the other hand, the newer design rubber that came on my n fac 243 doesn't smell at all. Personally I think it will be a crap shoot whether or not you get one with an oder. As far as leather straps marked Panerai...... Well, in my experience most rep leather straps are the weak point of the watch. The only rep strap I have on any of my PAMS is the Asso strap that Toro sells.
  3. I have a friend who did just that. He bought his wife a nice rep Omega connie, and told here it was the real deal. Well, the battery died and she took it to an AD while he was at work one day............. Needless to say, he had alot of explaining to do after she was informed that it wasn't a genuine Omega. I'd just let her look at the F1's on Andrew's or Angus's site and see if she likes them. Not worth taking the chance of being caught in a big lie.
  4. I use paypal when buying from forum members and some TD's. Some of the TD's though offer a 10% discount when using WU. That can save quite a bit on a large order. I NEVER use the paypal Gift option though to buy items. It's against their policies, and can get BOTH your's and the seller's paypal accounts frozen.
  5. You need a tool that looks like this: They aren't expensive. You can find them anywhere from eBay to Amazon.
  6. Sure wish these were still available from the TD's. What a classic and elegant watch!
  7. If you get a blue Rolex sub, the new one with the blue ceramic bezel and blue dial, just remember that you are rocking a $25K+ watch. The gen of that model only comes in solid white gold. The TT version is only about $10K in gen form. I second the Steelfish or the SMP. Both look great, are tool watches, and the gens are in a believable price range.
  8. Super Avenger today on Elephant hide.
  9. Personally, I try to buy watches that DON'T look too much alike. For example, I currently have 11 Pams in my collection. To me Panerai is probably the WORST example of having MANY models that look VERY similar. I know that there are variations in the wording on the dial, movement type and caseback, but how many polished Pams are there with a black dial and seconds at 9? In my Pam sub collection I have one polished with a dark dial (359), one polished with a white dial (113), One PVD destro (026k), One PVD right CG (360), One Luminor GMT (029m), one PVD Radiomir (292k), one polished Radiomir chrono, (288k), one Ferrari chrono (0014), and three submersibles (186, 243 & 024). The 186 Arktos looks alot different than the other two subs, so really the only two Pams that I have that could possibly be mistaken for the same watch are the 024 and the 243. To me, the main reason to collect is to take a taste of this and a taste of that, savoring the differences in the hobby as a whole, rather than exploring the minute variations between very similar models. Tha's why my collection contains 20 different BRANDS of watches. Granted, Panerai being the largest. I just love wearing a different watch every day that really looks different from the last. That said, I admit to having a black Rolex sub, an LV sub, a GMT and an SD. They ARE all pretty similar with the exception of the green LV bezel.
  10. Actually that's an average price. A high end tourby rep can cost $700+, and a modded rep can run $2K - $3K in some extreme cases. If you consider that alot of these watches are 95% accurate for less than 10% of the cost of a gen in most cases, it's really a good deal.
  11. It's not that large really, 43mm. Smaller than most PAMs. Fits great on my 6 3/4" wrist. I have never seen this series of watches on anything other than rubber. If you look at the third and fourth pics down you can see how the strap meets the case. You have to take the case back off to get the strap off. Same as the gen. I wore it today and found it to be VERY comfortable. Actually the only thing I'm NOT thrilled about on this watch is the fact that it's a cut-to-fit strap. Don't cut too much off, or it's time to order a new strap.
  12. The BR03-92 has one flaw on the dial that I know of. I believe that it was copied from the BR01. The BR01 has two shortened minute markers between the 1 and 2 oclock, 4 and 6 oclock etc.. where the dial screws are. On the gen BR03-92, all of the minute markers are the same length, but the reps have the same shortened markers that is on the BR01. A very noticable tell if you know what to look for. I'd like to get a rep of the BR03-92 Heritage edition, because it doesn't HAVE any minute markers on the dial. Not sure if it's been repped though.
  13. So I got a package in the mail yesterday from Andrew at Trusty Time. It had a PAM 292K, which is an awesome watch, but there are tons of pics of THAT watch on the forums. Also in the package was my new Porsche Design Flat Six. This is different from any other watch that I have, and I don't see them much on the forums, so I thought I'd share some pics. What do you folks think?
  14. Personally I would avoid the Calibre 36 in quartz. The seconds at 6 clicking over where the chrono HOUR sub dial should be is both a HUGE tell and annoying. I'm not sure if this one is being discontinued, but Andrew at Trusty Time doesn't even carry the Calibre 36 in quartz anymore. IMHO the factories that switch subdial functions on quartz versions just so the chrono works isn't doing anybody any favors. Some watches probably shouldn't be repped in quartz. LOL sorry for the rant, it's my biggest pet peeve in the replica world.
  15. What is the issue with the crown on the Tachy version of the chrono? This watch is high on my hit list of must haves. But... I don't want to buy one with a really glaring tell.
  16. You have to be careful with the Calibre 36. The TI version of this rep has a mistake on the bezel. The tachymeter reads '0' where it should read '200'. Both the standard TI and the DLC coated TI versions have this flaw. The SS versions don't. It's a pretty glaring tell. These aren't the cheap version either, but the ones that cost close to $400.
  17. LOL! OK Gotcha. The client I was working at this afternoon blocks streaming videos at the firewall, so I couldn't follow the link. Heh, I STILL like my Monsters though! They may not be a Ploprof, but they are great for the price.
  18. Actually I didn't list my gens. Nothing very expensive (Over $500), but I have both a black and an orange Monster, as well as some very nice Citizen Eco Drive watches. In fact my Skyhawk AT is my reference standard for setting all my reps. Love that radio in it that connects to an atomic time source.
  19. Hi folks, I just registered and I thought that I'd pop in here and say hi. I'm fairly new to the rep world, just bought my first rep (Breitling Navitimer World GMT) in early April. I bought before I found any rep sites, and somehow got lucky. I didn't get scammed, and the watch was a good quality rep. It was a bit more expensive than Andrew sells for, but I guess the same version. Then I found RG and have been hanging out ther since April. And found out how much I DIDN'T know about reps, and watches in general. Since then I've increased my rep count to 14. I constantly feel like a kid in a candy store: I want one of those and one of these, and one of those, and I just HAVE to have this one.... Here's what I have collected so far: Breitling Navitimer World GMT Breitling Skyland Avenger Black Steel Chopard Alfa Romeo Chrono Graham Chronofighter Oversize IWC Portuguese 7 Day Longines Master Chrono (On the way) Omega Gen 5 PO 42MM Pumpkin Omega Speedmaster Date Pam 292K (On the way from Andrew) PAM 359 PAM FER0014 Ferrari Scuderia Flyback Chrono Porsche Design Flat Six Chrono (On the way from Andrew) Tag Heuer Monoco Steve McQueen Tag Heuer Ladies Link MOP Dimond (Wife's) I've been trying to collect watches that are quite different from each other, instead of focusing on a single brand. Anyway, today I thought I should start branching out and try another forum. So far in my browsing, RWG seems to have a different flavor than RG does, maybe a bit more casual. I hope to become a regular around here, and please excuse me if I still pop off with a stupid noooob remark from time to time. I've found the learning curve to be fairly steep. Kris
