  1. I advise to wait for one month or so, there are new DSSD models coming out by the end of this month or in january, with superlume and perhaps a new movement. After that you can decide BK or a trusted seller

Where did you hear this?? I know of the "regular" Sea Dweller (16600) w/superlume being released soon but I haven't heard of a new Deep Sea version???

  2. It would be nice if they did release them this month, but we all know how that goes...... The SL (if it's good quality and not applied all over the indices like the DSSD) should be awesome. I'm a huge lume freak and that's the biggest letdown for me with all reps. It's also one of the biggest tells IMO, everyone knows that Rolex watches have good lume. Modern models that is, I guess it's OK for vintage pieces because their T25 lume would long dead by now anyway.

  3. I predict that sea dweller 4000 fans will be very happy in the near future...

Care to elaborate?? I'm a BIG 16600 SD fan and currently have a couple of very good SSD's that have been modded. It was a LONG, hard road to find them and I paid a premium for them but it's worth it IMO. These are the best Rolex reps I've ever owned. I'm not a nitpicker about the ever so fine flaws that you have to use a loupe to see so these look perfect to me!

I would really love this "cartel" 16600 superlumed version to be a little bit better than the old SSD's. I would probably have to buy 2 or 3 if they are!

  4. I just have to say after working with E for the last few weeks, this guy is just AWESOME! A true gentleman with a real passion for these watches! I'm so lucky to have met up with you E! Thanks so much for all of your hard work and thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise with me!

Can't wait to get the triple 6 on my wrist!

  5. The thickness of the original crystal that came on my GMT is SO thin! Are the clark replacements this thin also? The crystal was so flimsy and thin (like less than a mm I'd guess) that I can actually bend, twist, break it with my index finger and thumb fairly easily. That's why I said I didn't think this rep GMT could be made watertight. If the crystal is that easily contorted IMO it wouldn't stand much pressure before cracking/flooding the watch.

  6. Where can a replacement acrylic crystal be found for a GMT vintage that was bought from WBK time?

I put it on the first day I got it and smacked a countertop with it and BAM the crystal fell out and is chipped/cracked with a small piece missing from the inside rim where it presses into the case.

The crystal is really a POS, very thin (1mm) and flimsy. The watch was only $135 w/Asian 21j movement so I wasn't expecting it to be perfect. But I was disappointed to see how crappy the crystal was when it came out! There is obviously NO WAY to waterproof one of these watches due to the crystal construction. It simple pushes into a groove and can be rotated easily just by turning it with your fingers.

Any advice? Or should I just part it out?

I'm away from home ATM or I would post pics of the damage. I will when I get home tomm.

    Thanks for any help....

  7. I think it looks good! It looks like it may be a recent version because the the "10" on the bezel is correct and the pearl looks like it isn't bulbous looking like on the earlier versions. From what I can tell from you pictures the dial markers look pretty good also.

  8. Beautiful red you have there! I sure wish my grand-dad was into watches when he was my age.....I would have been set for life, as it stands I have about 7 watches of his that were passed down to me and they are all no-name brands with one waltham pocket watch.

  9. "Three on the tree" was the shifter in my first chevy truck! 3 speed with the gear shifter on the steering column just like an automatic transmission is today... Boy oh boy was that truck fun to drive! I went through 3 sets of back tires the first year I owned it! Burnin' rubber!
