  1. Hello all,

I have noticed that on the watches (both gen and rep), most of them have some form of anti-reflective coating. Here are my questions:

    1. How do you guys tell single AR from double AR  (or single AR from no AR) from pictures alone?

    2. Are there different grades of double AR? For example, are there differences in the double AR from the rep factory vs aftermarket double ARs

    3. If the genuine counterpart has a single AR coating, would anyone double AR it just to make the dial pop?

Thank you kindly for your responses and any related posts on the matter.

    Humbly yours

    L

  2. I'm just wondering if there is any good site to buy rep sunglasses? Preferably a little higher quality :)

Have to start planning for the summer!

I would recommend you buy gen ones for sunglasses.

Specifically, its because most, if not all rep sunglasses have the basic "vision darkening" effect, which is achieved simply from having tinted lenses.

Remember that scientifically, this causes the pupils to dilate when worn.

Now for the risk. The sunglasses may or may not come with UV protection. (Any decent replica sunglasses maker would be able to rep the "UV protection" label easily as well yes?) Dilated pupils and non-UV protection is not good news. It MAY actually cause more harmful UV rays to enter the eyes, as aperture is opened wider behind the tinted lenses.

I am sure you would not want your eyes to become harmed in this way right?   ;)

  3.

Z, thanks for the input.. just wondering: If you do mediablasting for the RG crown guards yourself after purchase, it would need to be re-plated with rose gold yes?

    Regards

  4. What's the link to that website?

    www.kingshowbox.com.

The 44mm chronos are not listed on the site, but Connie is able to get them for you if you email her. I have been dealing with her for the past 2 years plus and she always keeps her word.

    Her email: kingsales999@gmail.com.

Tell her what you want, and she will respond to you. I am not sure if she can offer the FC model, but she has confirmed that for the SS and RG models from Noob, she CAN deliver them on 10th Feb.

  5. Something that would've taken merely 5 minutes, would've gone a long way.

Well I have ordered the Noob RG version from Connie of Kingwatch instead of PT.

Connie would at least state upfront that shipping would be on 10th Feb, and she would send me the payment link on 6th Feb.

In my experience, she always delivers true to her word.

Just so that you know, PT does not have monopoly as a dealer in this. Soon, other dealers would be making the same offers on their sites.

I would say that PT did a very good job on marketing, but performs poorly in the area of customer service at times.

  6. I received the Puretime newsletter today, like many of you would have.

And they mentioned, without skipping a beat or batting an eyelid, that the orders would be shipped sometime after CNY, thereby blatantly reneging on their website promises that all pre-orders would be shipped before CNY.

Thats the rep world for us I guess. Each pre-order lure is a risk we take, and I guess in this case, its a 2-3 week delay for the delivery of a very promising rep. Worth the time I would say, but PT should have made an update and apologies for the guys who pre-ordered. ;)

  7. So...Im new here and have been doing alot of reading. Just purchased my first 2 pieces from Angus and Im waiting for delivery now. But these Hublot's are really interesting me and Im thinking about getting one as soon as everything checks out with my first purchase. But I've been seeing alot of people prefering the v6 over all others. Can any of the Veterans around tell me why theyre so much better? Thanks.

    Welcome newbie.

The V6 comes with the updated date font, better lume on the dial in my opinion, and of course, a more accurate movement aesthetically in terms of screws and engravings.

One tip for you, from my discussion with my friend and member martijn: The ones with the carbon fiber dial come with the correct subdial at 6 o'clock, with 3 sub divisions between the longer division lines. The ones with the "matte" dial come with 4 sub divisions between the lines, which is incorrect. But on the wrist, it makes virtually no difference unless you are really scrutinizing it.

Have fun, and enjoy your watch. :)

    Have fun

  8. My friend Z can be rather capricious at times, but he does have a wealth of knowledge on AP which can be useful for the community.

We should all get to know one another better, so that unnecessary tensions like this could be avoided.

I have interacted with both Panerai153 and Mr Z on separate occasions, and both are knowledgeable gentlemen in their own rights, with different temperaments.

Nobody is being a dick or cunt here, though Z does have a rough side to his tongue (or fingers applying to typing) which I have experienced firsthand :D

I am used to it by now and I sometimes kick his ass around just to pay him back for being rude to me when we first started talking.  :partytime:

Nothing better than some friction to get to know one another on an accelerated basis.

  9. http://pureti.me/product/pre-order-royal-oak-offshore-44mm-ss-noob-11-best-edition-a7750/

Looks like Noob is not to be left behind, and following closely on the forged carbon 44mm ROO chrono release by Chanel J12 Factory, Noob has released both the stainless steel 44mm ROO (panda dial essentially) and also a black dial DLC one, supposedly a rep of the ceramic gen version.

To be fair, the SS rep dial looks good to me, besides the usual date window placement flaw (a tad too far to the right), but I am going to wait for the release of the the same model by the J12 factory on both the stainless steel and rose gold models before deciding.

I cannot tell if the crownguard assembly are media-blasted in the Noob rep, but the sandblasted crownguards are featured in the gen of the 44mm ROO chronos for the ceramic/carbon model and the SS model. Chances are this would be a necessary mod

    What do you guys think?

  10. What's the RG one? Excuse my ignorance. New here and trying to learn the ropes.

oops sorry.. RG = rose gold. I think there are three or four models in this series: forged carbon, stainless steel (white dial), rose gold, and I think there is a ceramic one (same as the forged carbon one except its ceramic)

I am keen on the forged carbon one and rose gold one. ;)
