  1. Hmm...I could someone not considering you use different nick names on TZ and RWG and thinking someone stole your picture, but to post that in a public forum instead of alerting you through PM on RWG?!?!

    I don't get that.

My rep pics have been stolen a lot... they're all over Ioffer. Imagine that... someone stealing pics of the counterfeit watches. It's so pathetic, twisted and funny... I have said many times that I don't care. Life is too short.

Nothing would be more pathetic than start complaing about someone counterfeiting pics of your counterfeit watch.

But this time no one was even selling anything. It was just a beginning of a small, harmless eycandy thread. What should I use as my nick in the gen forums: "By-Tor from Illegal Replica Watch Group" so that people won't get "confused"? Please. :D

  2. Well said, By-Tor. The problem with people like that is that they attempt to prove their knowledge by airing inappropriate comments in the public forum with NO forethought to the consequences.

Well... fortunately there really are no "consequences" as I don't really care for TZ. It's a boring place. Not a big loss really.

Just a major annoyance... and a small disappointment. I thought we had discussed this before.

What bugs me in this is that I know some very famous watch people from the gen watch circles who are RWG members. I know their identities at "both sides of the fence". I would never "out" them in the middle of their gen forum community and friends. I would never even "out" them to anyone privately. What happens in the gen forums, happens in the gen forums... and vice versa. None of my business and they're just watches after all.

@ThinkBachs: Oh yeah... that rep Aquaracer Google rating is hilarious... and also scary at the same time.

  3. Well I posted some gen pics to the gen forums for the first time in years. I'm not planning to go there permanently... I created a TZ account to share a few of my gen pics there (for the kicks because someone invited me to... in the Rolex section as well). I know many people from the gen watch "circles".

Well it only took a day before some totally classless person commented in this thread:

    http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=msg...966#msg_4332686

Dumb question, but is this picture borrowed (or your own) from a site that deals in watches from 'alternative sources?'

I think I've seen it before, just checking. I think some of the membership crosses over between the sites.

    Best,

Yeah it's my own photo and I used another nickname "over there". It's not ANYONE'S business here if I want to post pictures of my gens to the gen forums. I don't understand what was the reason to crap onto that harmless eyecandy thread. I have seen fellow RWG guys posting in the gen forums many times, and the last thing I'd do is to refer to their other forum persona in the counterfeit sites that deal with criminal activity.

Not that I really care as I don't care for the gen forums that much... not planning to go there. But still, that was definitely my last post on the TZ.

I hope you got some satisfaction from that completely useless comment (whoever you are). Some people simply have no class.

    Regards

    BT

  4. I never warmed up to the PO Chrono for some reason. However this is quite a stunner.

But then again I can't be objective as I'm a fanboy of the 1911 series. That case shape and design are simply perfect.

This is the "Rouge" version. I think these will be introduced in the Basel show.

The orange version is quite a departure from the dressy "Panda" don't you think?

  5. I would rather buy several reps and enjoy this fantastic hobby. If I would have purchased the Omega I would not be here right now, I dont think.

    Why not?

People who buy their first expensive gen usually come back within two weeks... after they realize that it's just ONE watch. No serious geek can live with just one watch. That would be terrible! :D

And besides, you don't constantly have to buy new watches to enjoy the hobby and your friends here.

  6. This was truly a great read. I was absent from the forum when this was originally posted.

So many amazing watches, everyone... Dluddy's no-date Sub is  Thanks for the thoughtful posts... esp. RobbieG. Great stuff!

My rep review made you to buy the gen SFSO... well, your pics of the amazing blue dial really make me think about getting the gen. :D If the rep of the SFSO wasn't so good I would own it already... such a great watch. I'm kinda sad that you sold it.

Getting the genuine GMT II was definitely my best watch moment in 2008. This is such an amazing watch in every way... and I don't really know why it took so long for me to purchase my "dream watch". Now it's completely impossible to even THINK that I didn't own this. :)

  7. Do you have a factory shot of the white/blue version? I'd be interested to see it.

It's funny, I like the white dial exactly for that... the lack of screaming colors. I used to have my Broad Arrow that had electric blue hands. It was really beautiful at first but the novelty kinda "wore off" after a while. What I like about the white Discovery dial are the shiny, flashing hour markers and those shiny hands. They "sparkle" really nicely when the light hits them. Pictures can't really capture in all its beauty. The dial isn't actually pure white, it's kind of a "mocca white". Add the 2xAR and I think it's one of the most beautiful dials on a chronograph watch.

I know what you mean by "lack of contrast". Perfect example of this kind of dials are on the white SS Daytona and the white old model Ebel 1911 Chrono (I reviewed the quartz rep). I don't think white Discovery falls into this category.

The black version with those "racing" red needles is a flashy watch... the white one definitely isn't, it's not an "attention grabber" at all... but that's exactly why I like it. :)

  8. Well let me first congratulate you for making your homework properly and buying the right version. I actually wear my black ExpII more than my white these days. It's very nice watch in every way, and a definite "keeper" for me.

Regarding the crown... I'm not sure if member "Justasgood" is willing to provide the crowns to everyone, but you might send him a polite pm and ask. The correct crown for this model is the 6mm twinlock. Same parts for 16710 and 16570. You probably need the tube as well... and of course someone who can do the job for you.

I think changing the crown is worth it as the "Noobfactory" twinlock crown is grossly oversized.

    Good luck!

  9. Movado is a strange brand. I had never heard of it until I joined US-based watch forums. It's virtually unknown brand in Europe.

I think Movados haven't been repped because they're way too cheap. Who wants to buy a $200 replica of a $400 watch?

Here's the same one that you posted, on Ebay (buy-it-now price: $475) If you search around I'm sure you'll find them even cheaper.

They have made some more expensive watches in the past though... I've heard that some of the "flagship" models of Movado even used the El Primero. I don't know if they still make high end stuff like that.
