  1. It really is not a big issue since so few people will know anything about hand stacks or whether yours is right or wrong, & even fewer will ever get close enough to your watch to check it either way. But it is 1 of those little details that ices the cake & you know how neurotic watch collectors are.

    True, we're obsessed.

If it starts to bother me, I can always wear my other one. :)

PS Freddy: I'm still battling with myself whether I should get the new GMTIIc or not. The design of that watch does nothing for me (gen or rep). But the rep is so good... maybe I give up and buy one. :)

  2. That really is impressive Ubi.

I'm not a big fan of the oversized watches, either. 40-42mm is the maximum for my tastes too (although I have big wrists). It's not only the wrist size, oversized watches just don't look right to me. Maybe (as a Rolex fan) I'm a bit conservative as well.

I know you've been a fan of AP. If I were you, I'd keep this one... just for the kicks. :)

  3. Do not kid yourself, we are a significant portion of their sales. Do you think all these improvements over the last couple of years would have happened without the input of these forums? No, they would have continued manufacturing the crap you see on Canal street.

It was US that motivated these high end replicas. It is us who are willing to pay top dollar for FAKES.

Do you think the average internet cruiser would?

Totally agree with Robert. Forum sales are significant for them... 1-2% is way off the mark... no average person would ever pay those prices. Rolex maybe, but obscure reps: Ebel BTR, Vacheron Overseas, seconds at '12 AP, Chopard Mille Miglia, etc. etc.

They're not mainstream watches by any means. With those prices, they're clearly directed at harcore WIS only.

I also agree about Joshua. Good dealer, who has proved himself many times. Always been helpful to me.

  4. Recently, my feeling is that the board has become less civil and more confrontational. I cannot understand this. We have the same moderating team which has been expert at navigating us through hell and high water.

Are the best times really over?

    I hope not.

    Carl

How the board has become "more confrontional"? I must have missed this.

I think it's other way around... we had a LOT more controversial threads before, especially in the old RWG. Of course there are always a few drama queens in every community who create some hassle, but I wouldn't say we have a real problem with this. I've been on the Internet since 1994, and this is probably the most civil and "easy going" community I've ever been part of.

About people leaving... I haven't noticed this, either. Who has left permanently because "things have gotten worse"? I'm at a loss here... how things have gotten worse? I'm curious to know, honestly.

We all should always think how we could improve things. It's our forum, everyone's forum.

  5. I think the real story is a little more upsetting. A few people here were very very rude to her and she contemplated leaving many times. I have a feeling that some of these individuals persisted in harassing her via private message causing her to become so frustrated that she left without any warning. The last message she sent me basically read "I am almost out of here". If this is the case then I really hope you people are proud of yourselves.

If this is true, it's really sad. What makes RWG so great is that we have so many different personalities (and nationalities). People like Robi, for example... sometimes when he's drunk, he's stupid and highly annoying, but you gotta love the guy (despite all his little f*ckups). He's quite a character. :D

Victoria was a character too... some liked her, some don't. But that's what forum (and the real world) is all about. If we all were the same kind of people, it would be boring and sterile.
