  1. I already got my hopes up. This is just the plain old UPO (or UPO lite, to be exact).

Who says it has double-AR, and from what dealer this info (and pics) are from? Angus?

If it actually HAS double-AR, it's a huge improvement. I might even consider this one.

  2. I grew up with Rolexes (my dad's a gen collector) and I know what you mean. Gen is gen, and in some weird way they're definitely worth the extra $4K... even though their actual production cost is probably a few hundreds... they're still better in small details which are so important for us.

You might love that one and only gen watch (for now), but after a while you'll realize that you simply can't live with just 1 or 2 watches (if you're a real watch nut). I know I couldn't. That's why reps are so cool (and cheap).

2 watches? Get real man! A real watch dork needs to own at least 10 watches. :D Many of our longtime forum members own lots of great gens. Step back all you want... but after the initial excitement of your first expensive gen is over, you'll be back. Mark these words.

PS: It took Stephane a week or two to come back... now he's building more reps than ever, like a man possessed. :D

  3. I probably sound like a broken record... and I know this won't make you feel any better. But once again:

If you're in Scandinavia, Switzerland or in any of the Benelux countries, ONLY BUY FROM THE EU-BASED DEALERS!!! You'll wait a few weeks longer and (probably) pay a bit of extra, but that's a small price for the peace of mind.

And if you absolutely HAVE to buy from China (for whatever reason beyond my comprehension), ask the dealer to ship it in a registered standard airmail. Never, ever use FEDEX or any other commercial courier system!!!

Either way... I'm very sorry to hear about your watch. It's terrible. Been there, done that. Three times actually, and reg. airmail didn't make any difference. That was enough for me, and I don't feel like pushing the sh*t uphill anymore. :(

  4. You're welcome.

But who the hell sold that left one to you as "Noobfactory" Sub? They have killed people in Iraq for lesser crimes. :D That's outrageously horrible wokky piece of sh*t.

The Noob TT Sub really is very nice. Better than MBK, imho. My review watch already went to a new owner, and he's extremely pleased with it too.

  5. IMHO the last batch of C GMT II had an improved laser etch @ 6 which is, obviously, more discrete !

    Almost invisible without loupe !

    Xel

Yes, because it comes from the only factory that can make the decent 'uns.

The noobfactory Rolex reps have used decent etched crowns for years. The standard CN Rolex reps are all half assed efforts... I mean not just bad, but utter garbage.

  6. Awful rehaut shape (no thickness and lack of correct cylindrical shape on this area) is the biggest flaw on 90% of the Rolex reps. Good example of this is the "Super" SeaDweller.

I know this doesn't bother some, but that kills a Rolex rep completely from me.

When the fundamental and characteristic "look" of the watch is all wrong the whole rep is f*cked. After that, I don't care how nice the HE valve or dial are.

    That's just me though.

PS: On the new GMTIIc this was done spot on.

  7. I buy from both. Haven't been buying much lately though...

What is better QC than a watch that has been worn by a mamber for a few months... or even a year? Every single member transaction I've had have been excellent. Every single of them. Buying from longtime members is the best option of course.

I wouldn't mind buying from the best dealers... Joshua et al... he has always been perfect to me. But I have a terrible customs track record so I'll stick with the ones in the EU (Narikaa, Precious Time and Eurotimez). All excellent dealers.

PS: Have you noticed that the prices have gone up in the member sales too? I mean relatively as well. In the old RWG you occasionally found some real bargains. That doesn't happen much anymore.

  8. So BT. Do you like the square or round pushers better?

Both are ok. But when (and if) there will be a proper date-only version, I'll trade my day-date to that one.

Dunno why but I'm not so crazy about oversized watches anymore. Imagine how much nicer the TT BCE was, if it was 40-41mm.

  9. It's not just gas that has gotten so much more expensive here, apartments too.

I bought my first own apartment in 1993, when I was 21 years old... during the regression. That was in the suburb of the big capital city I'm living in. I paid less than 40.000€ for 60 square meters.

Well, that apartment is long gone. But it would cost 145.000€ now. And the average salaries have just increased 35%, even if you don't count the increased tax rates and inflation, and the increased overall cost of living, like food, public transportation, gas, reps... :D

Everything started to go downhill (except the prices) when we got the Euro.

  10. I remember when it used to cost $40 to fill up the tank of an SUV. Not less than ten years later I am paying nearly $65 to fill up the tank of my SEDAN!

Guys, you really should see the European prices before you complain. :)
