  1. Never understood PAMs, never owned one, never will. Just a personal taste thing, really.

But I guess Ubi is right. It's pretty much the same thing with Rolex and Breitling. Most models are simply too much alike. For example if you already own a Skyland I don't know where you need a Chrono Avenger or Super Avenger, unless you're a big Breitling fanboy (I'm slowly becoming one lol). They're very similar.

I think TAG Heuer is the most adventurous luxury watch manufacturer right now. They constantly come up with something different. I don't like all of their new designs but at least most of their new ones have been pretty adventurous.

  2. The Who is one of my all time favorites. However I don't bother with their studio albums that much anymore... the live stuff is much better.

Live at Leeds is a classic of course but "Join Together" live from 1989 is my favorite. It has a big band along with the The Who and they play Tommy in its entity. Simon Phillips was much better drummer choice than Kenney Jones (who was average at best). I have the video too... watching Enwistle is always a treat.

  3. For me this goes without saying.

But when I was a kid it was Led Zeppelin. IV and Houses of the Holy are probably my most listened albums of all time.

Then it was Pink Floyd, Yes and King Crimson.

When I was about 20 I discovered Rush (which is kind of a mix between those).

I listen to all kinds of music though... but progressive rock is my main thing. I also like Dave Matthews Band a lot, which is completely different. I appreciate their talent and musicianship. Although it's only their live albums which do it for me... they're MUCH better and more powerful than their sterile studio work, and Dave Matthews solo material is cheesy crap.

  4. I don't know how you guys survive in the EU. In our neck of the woods all they care is that it is not a bomb. Best of luck in any case.

In many ways it's a blessing that I don't live in the US. I would have bought tons of gens if I did... preowned gen prices are about 30-40% less over there, and the online market is like 100X bigger.

Weird isn't it? The watches are manufactured here but we pay a lot more for them.

Here is a EU-based online watch sales site. Just test the waters with some popular model, like Steelfish. There is one 42mm version in crappy condition for 1000 Euros, but the rest are in the $2K range. TZ.uk is the only watch forum which is strictly EU-based but there isn't much happening over there...

I don't know why... the EU has bigger population and bigger economic than the US but the luxury preowned online watch market is miniscule... and generally you guys are MUCH ahead in all online business ventures anyway...

  5. I have bought gens from the US. Yes, they got stopped by the customs and they were asking for vat 22%.

The trick: Make 2 PayPal payments. Let's say the watch costs you $2K.

Make it $400 and $1600. When the customs nazis want to see the PP receipt, of course you bring them the $400 one. It's up to you how much you want to play there... you can try a $100 receipt too, but it might be pushing it...

Tested and working. Bought my Fish that way. It might not work with Rolex watches, but you're safe with "unknown" not-so-expensive sounding brands like Breitling, TAG and even Omega.

@Chief: Damn you're right. I didn't notice the post count.

  6. EU member gets customs problems:

Another chapter to the very thick book: Why didn't I use an EU-based dealer?

Precious Time might not have a big stock, his prices may be a bit higher and sourcing the watches can take a week or so. But ask yourself: Is it really worth the risk?

Sorry for being an ass, but this is exactly how I feel every time when I read these. And believe me, there have been hundreds of posts like this over the years.

Ordering more than 2 watches from far east (in EU) = it's literally begging for trouble.

  7. They have already perfected into a 1:1 rep (as close as possible). Now they are re-engineering the effort into phases of release.

Version 1 - near perfect case but with inaccurate dial printing, poor rep lume and hands that are too short.

Version 2 - perfect dial, great lume, but with misspelling on caseback and poorly operating bezel.

Version 3 - this is the light version with cheap 21J Asian movement. This is the version with the absolute perfect case, acceptable dial and good build quality. It will be discontinued a month or two after introduction and become a sought after collector peice.

Version 4 - new "ultimate" version only available from the more expensive vendors. All details near perfect but this one will be plagued with somewhat poor build quality and the normal lack of QC.

Version 5 - the franken built by members who have a lot of cash to spend and buy all of the previous versions and combine them with any available genuine parts.

You forgot the Typical Case 6: "What the heck, these flaws are so annoying. I should have bought the gen since the day one".

  8. PloProf is the Hummer of wristwatches. Way too clumsy and a bit tasteless (depending on your viewpoint) Most hate it, some love it.

I like it but I doubt I'll be buying. But it'll be interesting to see how well it's going to be done.

  9. why dont you answer my reply to you, i felt very offended by what you said even worse because it come from you...

Sorry about offending you man. I know you're a good guy. And I feel sorry about the things that has happened to you and your friends. I just reacted to what you said, because it sounded so immature. I'm a straight shooter but didn't mean to insult you as a person. I have told these same things to my little brother, many times. :D And maybe I misunderstood you a little because I didn't know the background.

I just hope that you're not ruining your life. Answering violence with violence is not going to work. When you live by the sword, you could eventually die by the sword too. Entering the criminal world/lifestyle and taking justice to your own hands is a dead end.

But I understand you... when I was your age I was thinking very black and white about things too. Now I realize how wrong I was.

Send me a pm if you feel like it.

  10. By-tor thats refreshing to hear, especially from someone who's in the business of tough, always best to stand your ground in defense but always walk away from anything that escalates, MMA has nothing on bullets. takes more to leave but no fight is truly worth it and the surprise of finding out why the other guy is so confident could end in disaster, plus we dont need this kind of crap, too many a$$holes around here playing gangster thinking they're tough as sh*t, always trying to prove something to god knows who.

It's mathemathics... when kids hang around with scum, they get involved with scum culture, crimes, assaults, violence, etc. And that's what fighting on the streets is = scum culture. I don't know why the entertainment industry is pushing all this violence for the kids but it's very harmful.

I've become allergic to this tough guy crap. But I guess it's natural because of my job. I see too much of these idiots because I work in the city. ANYTHING can happen in those street incidents, you'd be surprised... they're not like arranged fights in the ring. Fighting skills don't help you much when a 350lbs fat guy falls onto you, you're a bit drunk & unlucky and reel the wrong way to the ground and then hit your head to the asphalt. I've witnessed an incident like that. It didn't end nicely (from either parties). These cases can take months, even YEARS to settle in the court. And people can get lifelong SERIOUS injuries from them. Yes, even the "invincible" MMA/karate kids with fancy tattoos.

Why? Because these people wanted to show how tough they are. And the other guy "looked at their woman" the wrong way, etc. That's kiddie stuff for mentally 15-year olds and after watching these insecure, stereotypical clowns (who watch too much Kimbo Slice / Bruce Lee on DVD/Youtube) for over 15 years I'm simply sick and tired of them. Yes I know, I need another job. :D
