  1. As I said BT, via PM: " WTF?" He is indeed a nice guy and I'd never condone it being done in public.

He must just be waiting for a callout tho, surly.

Someone must have noticed it of course. But since he's the forum owner they don't have balls to call him out me thinks. Makes it even more ironic and funny. :bicycle:

  2. @Dems: I doubt it. I saw that guy posting a pic of this same Sub earlier this year. It was a bad photo and I thought the lousy photography just distorted it and made it look whacked and left it at that.

I would never, ever embarrass anyone (especially the owner of this nice forum) in front of his members. Please don't do it. There's no reason for that.

I just think it's pretty hypocritical that these same "watch lovers" always look reps down their noses "officially". Here in RWG we enjoy all kinds of watches equally. And I agree 100% what Andreww said. No seasoned WIS (even ignorant) would buy a Submariner without being sure of its authenticity. That Sub is just wrong in so many ways.

PS: Now you know my nick in the gen forums. It's "apocalypse". :)

  3. I don't know. I want to believe that.

This guy is the owner of this whole watch forum (which is fairly big and pretty respected too)... and here he is, sporting a crappy fake Sub. Or then he simply thinks his Idealwatch real Swiss replica is so good that nobody would notice.

Must be one of the weirdest things I've seen in the watch forums... I mean, this guy is the friggin' OWNER!

  4. The only gen watch forum that I have been frequenting is the BDWF.

I have posted there 20-30 posts during the last year or so... mainly my gens to the wrist checks. Today I posted my GMT.

I noticed that someone posted a terrible fake Submariner to the wrist check thread. This one:

The funny thing here is that it's the forum owner. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Of course I won't embarrass the guy in front of the members but I thought it was pretty funny anyway. It's hilarious how these guys always put down fakes but wear (bad) fakes themselves... and think that no one will notice. Posers, I say!

  5. WM9 v2 with v1 super snug & fitting SELs (a gift from great forum friends). I have the crown upgrade too but I haven't had time to install it yet.

I briefly owned the v1 too. Loved the "Flat S". Did the cg's myself.

If you can get a good deal for this rep, go for it. It's almost as amazing as v2 and has much better default SELs.

  6. I know! It was crazy. It was like cult zeitgeist. It started to creep me out. Noobs would register and start topics like; "Panerai, I don't get it (help a newb understand)......" Then a three page mind bend as you described, and the next thing you know the noob had bought five in six months and was waiting on a vintage California dial and swan neck regulator. It was like Invasion of the Body Snatchers

    :p

  7. Made in China..... :whistling:

Yeah that's pretty f**king ugly car. Are you supposed to drive that with a straight face?

I still think Marcos Mantis is unbeatable. It's so scary that I can barely watch this picture in the dark. It reminds me of those cheap ass "Ferraris" that people build over WW Beetle/Ford Taunus chassis. But this is even uglier.

I wonder if the designer is still alive... I mean, it's pretty much impossible for a small manufacturer to NOT to go bankrupt after releasing something like this. If I were the owner I would have hired a few "friends" to take care of the model designer... or I would have dealt with him myself. :D

  8. I'm 40...but feel like I'm 24.

When I examine my hobbies closer (training/sports, video games, rock music)... well, nothing has really changed since I was 12. I even play some of the same arcade games in MAME.

When I meet with my old friends we often go back to those teenage years. I think it was emotionally the most important time of your life. Every day was different and the life was one big adventure. When you're 30, 40... well... you have seen it all, done it all.

But I wouldn't want to be 17 anymore. It was very stressful.

Maybe a few weeks though.... :D

  9. Never owned a Panerai replica either. Just can't get with it. Back in the day a member coined the phrase " Ah Panerai, a hamburger on a strap". That clicked with me and I haven't felt differently all these years. The dials, they just look like those telephones old folk have; the ones with huge oversized numbers and key pads.

Remember back in the old RWG when the PAM craze was at its hottest.

Someone came up with "I don't like PAM".

then there were 20 replies like

    "You just haven't tried one".

"When you try one, you will be hooked."

"It's impossible to NOT like one. Just put it on."

then you replied like "Yeah I've tried one but it did nothing for me."

    the next replies were like

"How long did you have it on? Only 10 minutes? That's not enough. If you wore it for an hour, you'd be hooked already."

"I hated them at first, but now I own 70."

"Give it time. You will end up as a PAM lover. Mark these words".

It was almost "politically incorrect" to NOT own/love a PAM. :D Nothing has changed for me in 5 years. I still don't like them. But that doesn't mean they aren't cool watches... just not for me.

Another thing that I just don't like are the leather straps. For me the watch must be on a steel bracelet. I bought Ebel BTR with a leather strap. I liked it but wasn't "crazy" about it. But when I bought and installed a bracelet I loved it immediately. Maybe that's the biggest beef with PAMs for me as well. The bracelet versions like Regatta Chrono don't look bad at all.

  10. Then again, that is because you spent all your money on watches, eh? :bangin:

No... because she has Alzheimer's. :D

Not a laughing matter really, but our whole family has gotten used to it pretty well and there's a lot of humor in it... I think that's the best way to take it, really.

I went to visit her to the hospital once (she had broken her arm) and she asked who I am. Then I explained to her that I'm (my real name) I saw something happening... but then she asked "how come you are so big?" :D She probably only remembers me when I was 5 years old or something. She still calls me "nice boy". When you're pushing 40 you only think it's flattering. When someone called you "boy" when you were 25, you took it almost like an insult. Weird how things change, eh?

  11. A dealer once told me that the high end reps that people can buy from the forums and on the Internet don't represent even 0.1% of all replicas sold worldwide.

If he even HAS reps, what makes you think that guy has anything but the usual cheap crap for sale? Just curious.

  12. Yeah I would say that I've always been like Robbie as well. I have never owned more than 10 watches simultaneously... gen or rep. I have 9 now. 3 gens and 6 reps. I doubt I can go lower than that... I couldn't stomach letting any of them go (unless I buy the exact same watch as gen, which I have been doing lately).

I've always been happier with less watches. I'm a practical person and I want to use all my things... not keep them collecting dust somewhere.

PS: Anyone wants to sell a blue gen Steelfish in EU? :D
