  1. Marrick,

they're all wrong. I mean fundamentally wrong.

I think some members have managed to create decent 1675's but it required tons of effort and different parts... you virtually have to rebuild the whole watch. There's absolutely NOTHING done correctly on the 1675 reps. Dials, cases and crystals... all very inaccurate.

I'd wait for a while... since Joshua released a new batch of vintage Subs and Dwellers (that are fairly decent) there's hope that we'll eventually see a 1675. Just a wild guess though... maybe ask Joshua?

If you want a decent classic Pepsi GMT, Valerian's suggestion is the best.

  2. Hey... anyone read the Rolex forum stickies? There's this article, which answers the age old "Who has the best Sub" question.

Read also the link to Tribals v2 vs. v3 comparison. I just added to the article recently.

  3. Excellent work. This is one of my favorite models.

(TTK) Neil used to have the full gold gen of this watch. Pretty amazing. I've actually thought of the full gold rep version... just for the kicks.

There is another, 7750-based version. Have you examined that one?

  4. Frank,

I think you missed my point. Of course we see the difference between them. Because we're ultimate watch geeks.

And of course I'm not talking about standard reps... only the best ones. I just put my WM9 Sub next to my gen 16710. You know, like now... 10 seconds ago. Gen bracelet is smoother and has softer edges but it also feels considerably lighter. Naked eye can't see any difference between dial print quality, the bezel construction quality or the insert itself. Both have equally strong super luminova. Okay... my SELs (even though they're modded from v1) don't fit 100% perfectly on the rep... I'll give that to the gen. But if an ordinary guy out from the street had to tell which one is rep, he'd probably pick the gen. Because it feels lighter.

Where are the huge visual differences man... you tell me...

  5. I have a mame cabinet project i've been holding off on for awhile now.

Damn... I've been dreaming about a MAME cabinet for a long time. Too bad we're living in a city apartment and there isn't enough room.

But when we buy a house I'll be getting a MAME cabinet and a few pinballs. Maybe Twilight Zone and Theatre of Magic. My wife would probably leave me though. Decisions, decisions...

Maybe this would be a bit too much though. :Jumpy:

  6. I had a guy who worked on my reps. Amazing skillful fella... but all watches he worked on have a small problem.

He says he used professional Rolex tool to close the casebacks and they're so tight that none of my forum friends haven't been able to open them.

I have a small mod in mind for my white franken-Explorer II but I'm afraid it will have the same faith: caseback can't be opened with the normal tools (sticky tape ball, etc.) I tried it with my Bergeon Rolex tool and... and I was once a competitive powerlifter... I should have at least some kind of grip strength left!!! It won't move at all.

    Any tips?

  7. This model is not graphite (according to Breitling) but "Tungsten Grey". You learn something new every day.

Here... I found pretty good shots of the gen. You can compare your rep to this. As you can see the dial isn't that light as the gen brochure pics indicate.

I believe it's made of shinier material though, which creates the lacquered appearance (same as my gen Aquaracer). But I believe the rep color is very close? The factory used the grey gen as an example so I guess they couldn't screw it up this time.

  8. I happened to find an extra 200K between my sofa cushions and bought these cheapies just yesterday:

I always wanted a gen BTR so I bought the Perpetual Calendar version in full gold. This is what I'm wearing right now. Sorry haven't had time to take a wrist shot yet.

but will probably switch to this later when I'm going to jump my Aston Martin and drive to see the poor people in the east side.

  9. Hey Mike, I guess you're not very good with the search button, eh? :D

This article (which is stickied in the Rolex section) will tell you everything you have to know about modern Daytona replicas. And before you ask... no, there is no better replica out there.

    Happy hunting!

  10. Gun threads have a long history of causing big trouble. Not only in this forum but everywhere on the Internet too. Americans and Europeans usually see the whole gun thing differently.

Just like the threads that are about politics and religion, friends always turn to enemies in these. There are much better forums to have these discussions, we are a watch forum.

We rarely close any threads but this fits the bill perfectly. It's nothing personal and there was nothing wrong with Tanfo's post and the admin team doesn't have any official opinion about the whole thing, it's only for the common good... because I know from experience what direction this discussion would take. There are healthy and interesting "heated" debates but these are ALWAYS unpleasant.

    Sorry Gentlemen. This is closed.
