Thanks guys.
I'm not holding my breath... I'm sure it won't come cheap.
But there's still 3 days left. That leaves me plenty of time to think about it.
Actually Joshua said that they're planning to release a tightly spaced rep version of the BTR. The spacing never bothered me... but they should have repped the stunning rotor.

Let's bring this guy down! I've submitted 2 reports already.. hopefully we can get it shut down!
-
I dunno how high I should go. I just sold my rep and now I'm after the gen.
-
I have a Gen TT Sub so I dont want anything that looks cheap. I know generally the plated gold pieces do not look well so I stay away from them, but I have been impressed lately by the quality of the Reps..Anyway thanks for any and all help.
Full gold plated reps are no good. Unfortunately. They might look ok in the pictures but the weight and feel difference between plated steel and real gold is just huge. Stick with the stainless steel with reps.
Or ask if Richard Lawton wants to sell his full gold Day-Date rep. LINK.

Stephane's plain old seconds at '6 Daytona that I reviewed a few years ago.
-
Keep in mind that the factory pics are often terrible. I don't know who takes the pictures but he hasn't got a slightest clue about watch photography.
We've seen this many times... the pics are so bad... lighting and all... they can be deceiving.

That's a nice one. Although it looks quite complicated watch to get accurate.
Is the bracelet brushed?

Russia wasn't ready to play. Yeah they have superior offense but where was their defense?
Gonchar is still great but he's an offensive d-man just like Brian Rafalski. They made terrible defensive mistakes. On top of that Nabokov had a bad day... it was a recipe for disaster.
Finland surprised me again. They have the oldest team of the tournament. Selanne is 40, etc. But I guess experience counts for something and Kiprusoff was ultra cool. USA-Finland will be interesting... youngest and oldest team.
Watching Sweden-Slovakia game right now.

Watching 3 olympic hockey games a day is tough (but fun). Especially during the night. Enjoying my holiday and still wearing my new one.
-
USA was the superior team but you gotta respect the Swiss. They were warriors. Mark Streit must have been one of the best d-men of the whole tournament. Pure class.
All my predictions have been correct so far.

Beautiful shots of a beautiful watch Powershot
Ditto. Great wristshots, makes the watch really attractive!
-
My fascination with watches is somewhat private. They are usually hidden by my shirtsleaves. My attraction is somewhat inexplicable to me and I don't flaunt it.
That's exactly how I feel too. I don't care at all whether people think I'm wearing gen or rep. It's completely meaningless. I never really understood the whole "fear of getting called out" thing. From me, no one has ever asked.
I buy my watches for my own enjoyement... and because it's great to share pictures and stories about them with other watch enthusiasts. It's fun! I don't see much difference between gens and reps, either. But I guess when you have been into reps for so long you learn so much about the models that all those small flaws start to bother you. I have bought gens only because of that... I love to see the details: Perfect dial color, perfect dial print, datefont, etc.
It's probably like a guitarist who loves to hear the sound from his expensive Fender. I doubt the spectators would ever notice if he played those songs with a cheaper guitar instead.

For By-Tor - Steelfish today
Wow, that's a great white Fish. Maybe the best white rep I've seen.
Did Ziggy relume it?
-
Unfortunately my watches interest my wife as much as her handbags interest me. I think she once commented my Aquaracer "Why is that... screen... so big?" (she meant the dial).
-
Check this out. First I was like: what the heck that's a GREAT price.
Price is:
US$ 3,123
€ 2,300
You can find 16710 from the US without boxes and papers for around $3.8K. But from EU $3.1K sounds like an AMAZING deal. Watch is in Czech Republic, in Eastern Europe. The main sales pictures look good.
But then check the pictures in the "scroller" below. Disgusting FAKE!
What's the lesson here?
If you find an "unbelievable" deal on the classic Rolex models it's exactly that: Unbelievable.
It simply bugs me that a legit watch browser like Chrono24.com allows this kind of scammer in their system.

@Thogaa: That blue looks super cool.
For me it's a no-brainer.
-
Damn! I didn't know you had gotten this already!? Guess I can stop scouring watch sites for you now then huh?!? lol
Congrats on the new Fishy mate!!
Sixx
Thanks man.
And by the way... huge thanks to everyone who were trying to find this watch for me. It's much appreciated. I try to squeeze out the review tonight... it's been quite a while since I made one. It's going to be fun... like in the old days.
-
A GMT II, SMP and now this...you have fine collection.
Thanks man.
But you forgot my other great gen blue... Aquaracer.
I haven't decided my next gen yet but it's probably Ebel BTR.
@Bike Mike: Looks great on that rubber. I might try it too.
-
Sweet one, mate! Really happy for you!
Thanks my friend.
@Ubi: This rep would make a great superfranken (wink wink)... with only a dial & dw swap. The rep is THAT good. I knew it of course but when I put them side-by-side it's scary.
-
I know exactly what you mean, it was the same for me with the white dial rep/gen. The rep dial was a sterile white, the gen was a lovely cream colour, a major difference, hence I sold the rep
Yes I know. Major, major difference which the pictures can't even capture.
But the black rep is SO amazing. At least mine, which has perfectly applied lume dots. The lume dots are too protruded on the rep, however, and a tiny bit too green. Gen lume dots are flat and almost recessed. You'll see when I make dial comparison shots (well you already know since you own the gen of course). Almost everything else is spot on.
@Dluddy & FXR: Thanks guys.
@Bike Mike: Feel free to post some shots of your bluesy on a strap.
-
Congrats, BT! I know you've been chasing this one for a while now. And you've finally got it! Looking sharp!
So, having had the rep and now the gen, what are your overall impressions of the rep?
Thanks my friend.
I will try to address all the details in my review. The rep is amazing. The black one, that is.
Blue version isn't even close. It's like completely different watch... the dial is SO different.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the blue rep. But it's totally different kind of "violet" blue. Gen is greyish, turquoise. First wrist shot shows it perfectly.
-
Thanks Gentlemen. Appreciated... I'm really happy to finally have it.
Added another wristie which shows the dial even better.
I try to make some decent studio shots for the review. But the problem is, we have the table where I keep my lightbox full of baby eqipment.
-
I will make a rep vs. gen review later... but here's a quick wristie of my new blue.
