  1. When I look at these pictures I realize how far we have come. I remember when Watcher made that Joshua's CN Sub vs. Gen comparison in the old RWG1 (I think it was early 2005). Everyone were like "ooh how close it is".

People would be SHOCKED to see a replica that bad now. Our standards are just totally different in 2010. This franken WM9 is a testimonial to that.

  2. Yeah, I just recently bought a black SFSO rep.

    1-1.jpg

It's amazingly nice rep and I'm probably going to keep it for good... but the thing is... I prefer the blue dial and I want a gen of this watch anyway. I don't fear about getting "called out" or any of that stuff... the rep is amazingly close. But I want all my favorite models as gens.

There are lots of US-based sellers and the preowned prices of this model vary between $1100 - $1500. From EU I have only found SFSO's from places like Blowers Jewelers with a laughable price tag, like 2000$+ for preowned ones. They're laughable because the retail price of this watch isn't much more than that.

I want it shipped from EU because I can make the Euro/EU payment from my bank, and I don't want the 22% extra vat that comes with the foreign shipments (from US, etc.)

I'm willing to pay $1500 with a bank wire right now if only someone found me a blue Fish in good condition (with paperwork). I only need the paperwork because it'll be easier to resell with it (though I doubt I'll be selling any of my gens, ever). I've already bought 2 gens through this forum (Bond Seamaster and Aquaracer Chrono) so I'm trying my luck again. :)

Please keep your eyes open for me.

    Thanks guys.

PS: Not interested in the 42mm model with polished middle links. Only this particular model (pictured below). Arrow hand, square hand... doesn't matter.

  3. The pictures are deceiving. The cyclops position on the CN cases is wrong, plain and simple. I owned this exact rep long time ago. All old-timers can verify this, it's way too far on the right, just like in that sales picture... and it's perfect on the Noob case. There is a big difference. That thick, cylindrical rehaut shape isn't present on the CN version, either (even on the non-wokky version).

Of course you can save a few bucks and get an inaccurate rep, but I would happily pay that $130 extra and get a decent one.

Though I agree that you didn't receive the exact product that was advertised. That wokky version is even worse.

PS: Not trying to rub salt, just stating the facts. I have owned more 16710 reps than anyone in the forum, it's my grail watch and believe me, I know everything about the 16710 reps. Eventually reps didn't cut it for me and I got the gen. Trust me, get the Noob version from BK... it's the only decent one.

  4. There's only one decent rep of this model (16710) and it's the Noob case. Same factory where Lani's black Explorer II is from (reviewed in my section). Why didn't you read the countless of reviews that I have written of the rep & gen 16710 (again, in my section)? BK can source that exact model. Maybe Joshua can too... but you ordered an inferior CN version... I agree that your watch is even worse than in sales pictures. It's wokky. But wok or no wok, that rep isn't good at all. All CN versions have the datewheel positioned way too right on the dial, which is a terrible flaw.

In the rep world you have to read, read and read... and then examine the pictures closely, make comparisons with the gen, read reviews and only THEN make the actual order.

    Better luck next time!

  5. Yes it has the same rehaut depth as the Noobmariner. i.e too shallow. But trust me, from the front it looks better than the MBW version, which doesn't have the correct rehaut thickness. Here they are side by side.

    comp2.jpg

I believe the MBK version has remained the same. They have just added the (bad looking) engraving. I wasn't too impressed about it.

    Noob:

    +dial

    +rehaut thickness

    +bracelet

    +crown

+"ok" SELs (they vary because of QC issues)

    -rehaut depth

    MBK:

    +clasp

    +rehaut depth

    -bad engraving

    -crown

    -dial

    -terrible SELs

    -too big date mag

  6. My thoughts exactly, and I'm a pretty loyal Rolex guy.

I'll third that. DSSD is awful. Not quite as awful as some other new Rolex designs though... like YM II.

And you know how big of a Rolex guy *I* am.

I also agree about Panerai. Never understood the attraction, however I don't find them ugly at all... I don't dislike them. They simply don't do anything for me.

Gigantic 49mm watches like Super Avenger make me wonder. Good looking watch (in principle) but the outrageous size has ruined it.

  7. WM9 is the best. The second best is the wrapped Noobfactory version REVIEW. That's the one that Criggs is referring to. Excellent!

I compared it to the MBK version and it's no contest... the Noob version is much more accurate. Only TT Sub that I can recommend (besides the WM9 of course).

Gold won't wear off from the wrapped version and the SEL is "full gold". The plated ones are crap.

    This was mine.

  8. This guy scammed a few of my good forum friends as well.

But keep in mind, we don't want to see any kind of plans about criminal activities in the forum, publicly. If you plan to kick his arse, go ahead... but move that kind of discussions out of the forum. Discussions about his location and other Internet identities are allowed though... I don't think we should have any extra protection towards a scamming lowlife.

    Thanks for understanding.

PS: We believe he registered in this forum again, just recently. We banned his arse immediately (+ informed all other forums about him & his IP).

  9. Thanks, all again! Appreciated.

That is wonderful news. All the very best to you and your family. What will be his first watch I wonder!!!

I think the real challenge is to keep him away from dad's watch collection. It must be locked up immediately after the little man learns to crawl. :D

Two more shots. By-Tor Jr. has already become a favorite of all nurses in the hospital.

He looks a bit Asian from some angles, with those dark eyes & hair. Not too much though... otherwise my wife would have a LOT to explain. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  10. I'm with Ubi, you've seen my watches so many times... and besides, I'm lazy and I always post the same pics over and over. (I promise to take some new photos during my baby vacation).

Bond Seamaster (gen). This I had as a rep for over 4 years. Then I purchased a gen from a forum friend. It's one of the classics that I never get tired of. Always a great choice with a suit (it's not a dress watch but if an elegant English gentleman James Bond can wear it with a suit, why not me?) I also have the chrono version (as a rep and it's superb).

    wallp.jpg

Pepsi GMT (gen). Best watch Rolex ever made, and definitely the best movement (3185) too. How can you argue against this watch, there's no way. Maybe the Sub is a bit more popular but Pepsi is synonymous with Rolex, and the movement is simply superior. My old man has the 1675, I have the 16710 and maybe my son will get the ceramic Pepsi version (when it comes out).

    3.jpg

TAG Aquaracer Automatic Chronograph (gen). My favorite chronograph and the coolest blue dial ever produced. There's just something about this particular model that "speaks" to me. I liked the rep a lot but the smaller (42mm) date-only version is even nicer.

    6.jpg

Breitling Superocean Steelfish X-Plus (rep). My favorite diver watch. Rolex and Omega divers can't touch this. Pure perfection design-wise. The rep is really, really nice.

    1-1.jpg

My white Explorer II (franken). Wears small, has the typical thing that white dial watches have... i.e doesn't have the "striking" effect on anyone. Won't get noticed. But I notice it, that's the only thing that matters. One of the nicest white dial watches ever produced. And no other watch reminds people more of winter and snow.

    15ojjns.jpg

    That's my top 5.

  11. Beautiful, BT! All joking aside too.... that little guy actually does have some impressive pecs!! They really show in the last pic where he's doing flys. ;)

Yes indeed. He has very strong neck already, and also very strong crawling reflex. The doctor was impressed as well.

Very healthy kid indeed. That was the most important thing. It's amazing how much he eats (and shits)... his ass produces "smelly mustard" like a small factory. :D

  12. Thanks a lot my friends!!! Much appreciated.

Been pretty busy today but managed to take some shots in a lousy lighting. So excuse the bad quality.

    Here he is. By-Tor Jr.

Thick wrists. Good genetics for some heavy lifting. Or what says Lani?

This is the only photo where the watch is showing.

  13. Yeah it's official... just witnessed the birth of my first child. He's quite a brisk boy and seems to have a lot of character.

When he came out he screamed like a man possessed. But then he was pretty calm and cool... after the bath (that I gave him) he immediately shitted into his clean hospital swaddle... then he started seeking & sucking mom's breast and fell asleep. So he looks like a healthy, normal boy. :D

I'm home now. Happy that it all went great... the birth time was 1:56 AM... six hours straight after the contractions started. Unfortunately I forgot to take my digital camera in middle of all that rush and hassle, but pics will follow later.

  14. Some of TAGs designs are amazing, Link is one of their genius brands... I love everything about these Link Chronographs, the bracelet, the sporty design and the characteristic look.

I'm looking for a gen Link chrono myself too.

    Thanks for the writeup, excellent!!

PS: The new CJ1110 doesn't have any of the same appeal & character. I like your watch much more.
