  1. Be aware that even my Swiss Fish arrived with a faulty bracelet. The end link that connects to the SEL was terrible and it didn't bend properly. PT of course sourced me a replacement (and I built my nicely fitting SELs with 3 separate bracelets) but it proves that there is a lot of inconsistencies with this rep now.

I would suggest to get pictures of the actual watch from the dealer before buying. Those arrow hand versions seem to use that awful crown & faulty seconds hand a lot. But looks like there is another version too (where these two flaws aren't present).

According to PT the best Swiss version comes from the same factory who makes the best TAGs. I believe the arrow version has nothing to do with it... it has different case, bracelet, dial, crown, etc. etc. I would definitely get the Swiss version... the 2xAR alone makes a world of difference. Why save a lousy $100 and get a watch that won't satisfy you in the long run anyway...

  2. thanks !

must be nice to have a new toy ;)

i keep my V2 too ..... the weakpoint on mine is the tiny movement ...

its at the moment for complete service - must be an used old movement.

this is a long therm project ... if i see chep gen parts i drop them in :)

    cheers,

    Frank (and others),

do you know if this small movement is possible to replace with a standard ETA (if it ever breaks)... or do you have to source an identical small ETA? My v2 is a permanent keeper so it'd be nice to know.

  3. People don't want to admit it but they're fascinated with drama. That's why there are always lots of people hanging around where the accidents happen. They say "how terrible" but deep down they'd just LOVE to see some serious damage... even dead people. That's also why we have the "yellow press" and reality TV... and that's why people make the Internet drama (often out of nothing). There's another name for that, it's "social porn".

The most viewed thread in RWG is "Little White Lies". I wish my reviews got even 1/10 of that attention.

Ah almost forgot... carry on! :D

  4. Trust me, I have owned many Rolex reps and the difference between steel color is completely meaningless. I guess the (almost non-existant) difference doesn't even come from the actual steel "caliber" but the overall better quality brushing on the gen.

There's that weird, unexplainable difference in the bracelet "feel" when you have it in your hand though. Gen feels softer and smoother. I don't know what causes it exactly... guess it's those smoothened bracelet edges and exact middle links tolerances or whatever... but it's not a big deal, either. :)

If your amazing Sub rep has a shortcoming, it's those SELs that don't fit properly. There are noticeable gaps. But that's usual blues with the reps, unfortunately... a luck of the draw. :(

I managed to source a WM9 v1 SELs that fit amazingly well on my v2.

  5. I very much doubt WM9 will have this ready before June! Also BK is behind because of the slow speed George usually supplies parts to him on new projects. It will come when it comes guys and will be worth the wait I'm sure. Look how far behind he is on LV and TT projects. The TT only started shipping last week!

I recall you had the v1 of the TT Sub.

Are you going to get the new one too? Would love to hear your impressions. I'm always going back and forth with the TT Sub. I love the looks of the blue Sub but I always feel like a pimp when I'm wearing it. :D

Gold is so "eighties" in many ways... but damn it's a beautiful watch.

  6. Regardless, the other tell would be the sheen of the SS. I haven't polished it yet, but compared to a stock SSDv2 last night, the sheen is darker, and compared to a gen Sub, hand in hand comparison, it's noticeably darker.

"Noticeably darker" is a gross exaggeration. If you polish the rep bracelet properly it's almost impossible to see the difference. Here's my $100 Asian GMT and my genuine side-by-side.

Here's WM9 Sub (which has probably brighter steel than cheaper reps) and genuine GMT 16710.

You can only see ANY difference in very strong light exposure. And without having the watches side by side it's simply IMPOSSIBLE to see any (unless you have some kind of superhuman eyesight). If silly things like this bother the rep buyer, I guess gens are the only way to go.

  7. @McRae: My Fish has the exact same datefont as my old one (from the 1st batch). Look at the 1st picture in my first post.

It's the standard ETA font. But look at Makoberry's watch... it has perfect Breitling datefont. Mine doesn't have that. Other that that, my watch is 100% identical with his.

@P4GTR: I have been thinking about the Skyland for a long time... it's a great rep but I'm not sure if I like the design. It has a polished bracelet and the watch overall looks a bit clumsy. Impressive, yes... but not as balanced and nice as the Fish. Just a personal taste thing I guess. But if I saw it in the flesh I could change my mind. But I think Skyland is very similar with Fish in design in many ways... and definitely not as nice. I doubt it'd see much wrist time if I purchased one. Fish is the only Breitling that I really, really love. One of my all time favorite watches bar none. :)

  8. Type a Google/Yahoo search string

    "Microsoft Office 2007" rapidshare.com

    or

    "Microsoft Office 2007" Megaupload.com

Besides Torrents this is the easiest way to find anything these days. Music, movies, games, etc. I prefer these download sites as they always download at full speed. There are always some dead links too... so it might take a few attempts to find functional links.

  9. They actually produce many variations of this rep. Look at this one. The dealer claims that it's "same chassis as the ETA version" which isn't true.

Just look at the crown. Crown is completely different on this... all wrong. The seconds hand "box" is missing the red color. Guards are shorter as well and the whole case looks different. I've seen the arrow hand versions with this crown. This has a bearable dw but I've seen these with absolutely terrible date fonts.
