  1. Of course people can priorize things differently. This watch has a nice, fairly accurate dial but hour hand looks all wrong and the pearl is BEYOND horrible. Apparently they tried to make the cg's look authentic but failed miserably (imho). The insert has violet blue color which is completely off. But most of all, how could anyone live with a crown like that? That looks like cork from a wine bottle.

These things probably wouldn't matter if it was an obscure model... but the Bond Seamaster is one of the most well known watches in the world.

Does it make sense to buy a $110 replica with Asian movement and mineral class, and with those mentioned issues... unless you're buying the case for higher HE valve (for mod base). Of course it's up to you, but I wouldn't waste my money. Yes, it's "only" $110 but you can buy lots of nice things for $110... like beer. :D That black version is total fantasy.

You can buy the old classic ETA version for what... $250? I would get that one. It has flaws, yes... but it's very nice quality rep (owned that for years). And the quality replication is just as much about "feel" as it is about flaws... any seasoned rep buyer would guess from the picture that this watch wouldn't have very authentic "feel". If it looks cheap, it will most likely "feel" cheap as well.

PS: If you want a good $100 Omega rep, get the black GMT. It's fairly accurate and nice.

  2. IF they made a Pepsi bezel ceramic, I would be all over it as well. To me the Pepsi Bezel IS The GMT. I'm sure that at some point when Rolex perfects the Pepsi Ceramic, the rep makers will not be far behind.

    Arthur,

I couldn't agree with you more. Pepsi is synonymous with GMT. Even red/black would be nicer. All black GMT simply doesn't do anything for me. I didn't like the polished middle links, either. Overall it's a nice watch but it didn't "grab" me at all. This watch simply doesn't have the Rolex "spirit" and traditions. But when you put on a 1675 it's a Rolex with capitalized "R"... you know what I mean?

PS: The biggest flaw of this watch (to me) is the bezel. It's quite different on the gen. When the light hits it, the gen bezel looks brown and it's a lot shinier. I didn't realize that when I wrote my review of this rep... but it's very apparent when you see the gen (I tried it on recently). The cyclops AR never bothered me at all. Still, very nice rep... I just didn't love it as a watch.

  3. I just found out that my camera is fuxed-focus and has no macros...[censored]!

You can throw that camera away then. It's completely useless for watch photos.

Buy a decent camera. "Decent" doesn't mean expensive... it just means something that has the basic macro options.

    Good luck!

  4. Congrats Arthur!

I briefly owned this same rep too, it was really nice. The best improvement is the bezel operation (it moves in 1 hour increments). The old Submariner bezel was really stupid on a GMT (operationally).

    Enjoy!

PS: I agree with you, the micro adjustment on the rep is insane... I never figured it out... thus, never found a perfect fit.

  5. I really neeeeeeed a dress watch, so a JLC Master Control (the old one, not the 40MM) is my new goal (untill my next goal... ;) )

JLC? Damn you gotta make some serious green.

If I had the money to buy a dress watch from those real top brands I'd go for Breguet.

JLC, VC and Patek are amazing but for me Breguet is the King of all wristwatches. They made the watches for Marie Antoinette and Napoleon. But then again an average guy like me can only dream of those... :)

  6. The "raw" photo from the camera comes as a jpg. If you adjust and resave it over you will lose resolution and sharpness immediately, plus create more noise and lose quality every single time you save it over (as a JPG).

That's why you should ALWAYS resave your all "work in process" pictures only to lossless format (BMP). When you're finished with the adjustments, save it as a jpg (highest: 10 in Photoshop). 12 is useless as it provides no additional quality (nothing that a naked eye could see) and the file size difference is dramatic.

When you save the high quality JPG once, you will lose something from the lossless format... but it's nothing that a naked eye could see (providing you do it only once). Always keep a BMP version of your images (if you want to edit them later and maintain the maximum quality).

  7. Btw By-Tor, an aside- has the SFSO gen deal gone through yet?

Unfortunately that deal tanked. The guy acted like it was the only SFSO in the world.

But no worries... I'll find one soon. My only problem is that I want it shipped from the EU and there simply aren't as much offerings here. Ironic, isn't it... they're all European watches and 90% of the preowned offerings are in the USA. Of course we have stores like Blowers Jewellers but their prices are just laughable.
