  1. I think that's the main question, really.

We're all attracted to luxury brands and even if we're not here (necessarily) to get watches to deceive, we still want to wear these luxurious designs and have fun with them. Many of us also own gens of the luxury brands.

I owned a Seiko Orange Monster and it's a great watch for the money. Just like Toyota and Mazda are great cars (for the money). But they're not fascinating in any shape or form.

But I'm sure Breguet and Patek owners think the same way about Rolex, TAG, Breitling and Omega. :D

  2. @By-tor - it's funny you should say that. I remember when i first started collecting reps here, and my collection was so different to yours. However, over the past year my tastes have really changed, and I have a more similar collection to yourself (give or take a few)...so what are we buying next? :)

    :D

I have decided to stand pat with my collection. I was thinking of the gen Steelfish but at the end of the day I'm happy with the rep.

That's my favorite diver watch without a doubt.

There haven't been many new reps that have catched my eye. But that doesn't stop us enjoying the old ones.

  3. Hey Gio, I remember your gen.

The weird thing about some gens is that they have pink chrono second tips. Some have orange.

Just like there's variation in the hand length in the standard non-chrono Bond model.

The rep is still one of my favorites... mine even has the ETA datewheel. It wouldn't even cross my mind to trade it. I'd love to have a gen insert though.

  4. And this is what I get

    47492444.jpg

My desktop resolution is 1280 x 800. Sure there are lots of people who use much bigger resolutions but this (according to a popular gaming site) was the most popular desktop resolution among the members.

I'll hazard a guess that the wide avatar area forces the forum software to resize the pic.

  5. The "View new content"-link is working as it it supposed to for most members. Just make sure you are using http://www.rwgforum.com and NOT http://www.rwg.cc when you are browsing the forum.

This fixed all my problems. Apparently I still had the old rwg.cc link in my Favorites folder.

There's nothing that I miss from the old site except for one thing... the ability to post 1024 x 768 sized pictures without the forum software automatically resizing them. The width limit is way too small now... it's somewhere in the 930 pixels range.

Eyecandy & photos are important (no... essential) for a watch forum, and we should have the ability to use the standard (smallest) wallpaper size with a desktop 1280 x (which is very popular desktop resolution for these modern flat monitors). That could probably be arranged by reducing the avatar area width?

  6. The label "MBW" doesn't guarantee accuracy... never has. MBW/MBK has several good "base watches" like white 1680 and the vintage white Dweller, but they require tons of work. They don't have even ONE good OTB rep... none, zilch, zip.

1675 uses the 1680 case & crystal and is simply crap. I wouldn't pay $100 for that watch.

There simply isn't a good 1675 rep available. Why? I dunno as it'd be very easy to do technically and even functionally (it has fixed 24h hand). I guess it's one of those mysteries in life.

  7. Yeah... that Breitling Navi TT is really nice. Excellent TT replica, even by today's standards. It simply didn't fit my wrist and I "flipped" it really quick, mainly because of that. But I really liked it. I have considered a TT BCE lately. Maybe someone wants to trade one in EU?

I know gold isn't popular among the majority of members, but so what... it'd be nice to see them anyway. I'm a "closet" 18K fan myself. :D

  8. I'm always going back and forth with the gold watches. On the other hand I love them but I always feel a bit uncomfortable wearing them. I don't know what it is... they're just a bit "garish".

I've owned many gold watches. A gen Aquaracer TT blue, owned/reviewed 4-5 TT Subs and a TT Breitling Navitimer.

TT Sub is one of those watches that I always want to own. But when I get them, I just feel it's a bit "too much". I'm curious to see the upcoming WM9 version. This Noobfactory / wrapped version was the nicest I ever had.

Let's see your gold watches! :tu:
