  1. ya, just getting around to this post now. looks like asad has been banned here as well. any information would be appreciated mods!

asad got ip-banned from all major boards (RWI, RG and RWG) for posting rep pictures to gen forum. It has been mentioned in our forum rules, and we are strongly against this behavior. He did it on purpose, and the Geek mods got a request/veiled threat from the Paneristi admins for that asad's post.

Members like asad can seriously jeopardize our hobby as we want to keep as low profile as possible. Yes, we are an open forum but we want to respect the gen boards this way... when we don't go and sh1t into their livingroom - and rub the reps against their collective faces, maybe there's a small hope that they (and the lawyers of Rolex, Swatch, Hublot and Richmond) could leave us alone with our ILLEGAL hobby, involving counterfeit watches. Well, it doesn't hurt trying.

asad probably didn't think it this far, or didn't mean to harm anyone... but we have decided to take this approach. All forums co-operate in this regard. And yes... we can get people's ip's from many gen forums too.

  2. Repost #3: 5508 With Thin Case

    it begun with that:

    rol187-1.jpg

wrong shaped case which is too thick and with bulpy lugs (IMHO a modern DJ case or something like that), no lugholes, wrong bezel etc.

now it looks like that. not finished yet and it has not the demand to be accurate, still wrong crystal, wrong fat hand, insert and some other things i have to do, but i like it better than before. and it has a thin case, i tried to model it after the case of my 1675:

reshaping the case (that was intense work and took around 10-12 hours incl. sanding back to

    shine), drilled lugholes:

slowly sanding progresses :bangin: (that took the longest time, my fingers still hurt):

then springbars, dial and hands aging. i like it looking old (where is nanuq? :D )...

  3. I thought it'd be nice to repost some Palpatine's vintage Rolex posts. Older members remember him, he was one of the pioneers who started to vintagize the MBW's. He was a good forum friend of mine, and I really don't know what happened to him. Personal real-life reasons probably?

Let's start from this post #1. I'm not very familiar with the vintages, so I let you guys decide. Comments?

i love vintages....i just love them....

    -dial aged and relumed

    -hands repainted and relumed

    -generic crystal

    -bezel and case polished

-drilled out lugholes and installed genuine springbars

    -genuine tube

now we need a better crown....

  4. My Aquaracer PR has always been low. About 30 hours only.

I don't know what causes this, but it seems to be characteristic for this particular model. But you know what... it was originally only about 20 hours and has increased later. Weird, eh? Keeps perfect time, no problems otherwise... so I don't really mind.

Perhaps the day/date change requires more PR?

  5. You're welcome!

How did you "screw up" the insert? Some aftermarket inserts simply don't fit around the crystal and there's not much you can do.

The Jewelryoutlet one fits perfectly. But you have to make sure that you order the insert for the 16710 sapphire version, because the plastic crystal models (1675, etc.) have smaller crystal diameter, and your insert won't fit. This is important.

PS: You don't even need to sand it down, but it looks nicer when the insert merges smoothly with the bezel edge.

  6. That is sweet.

You have too many watches, loan one to me. Just kidding, unless you were going to do it.

Too many? Compared to guys like robertk, Stephane, Puggy and others I'm a small time. I only have 8... barely one watch for each week day. :)

PS: I rearranged my Photobucket album and accidentally changed the photo for a while. If someone saw a wrist shot, just refresh the screen and you'll see the correct pic.

  7. Yes, this is the Noob GMT with wrong hand stack. But it has the good dial which is important. The watch isn't very accurate in the default condition, but an excellent base.

    Change:

    Thick GMT hand

    Crown

    Insert

    Bezel

    File the cg's

and you have hell of a rep.

Good to know Andrew can source this good one now.

Congrats Looseends, you did well. And welcome to the forum!

PS: You can get a Pepsi insert from Ebay, which will fit your watch nicely with a little bit of sanding and glue. Try seller "Jewelryoutlet". The guy sells crap too, but his Pepsi insert is actually very good... perfect colors.

  8. Thanks a lot guys! Glad you like it, so do I. :D

@Freddy: I'm not 100% sure what that crown is. My friend installed it. It might be a gen 1675 crown but might be just an aftermarket crown too. It looks close enough for me, and it's a huge improvement over the default Noob crown.
