  1. Noob version can be modified to almost perfect (visually).

But in otb condition it has:

    -Bad crown

    -Bad bezel with dull teeth

    -Bad insert

    -Bad crown guards

-Way too thick GMT hand with oversized triangle (only on the wrong hand stack version)

But yeah, if you invest some time and money to modify it, the result is amazing (even though I say it myself). I have 2 of them.

Retro is a nice rep though. The biggest flaw is the lack of rehaut thickness (imho). It looks wrong from the front view.

Some photos I've taken of them:

    Retro and Noob (heavy mods).

    Happy hunting!

  2. That's a beauty!

I can always appreciate the touch of gold. The black dial modern Daytona (post-Newman) doesn't do anything for me, but the TT version has some kind of "additional presence".

I could think of many nicer watches for $10K though.

  3. The crown is definitely wrong... it's way too fat for this model. The insert & pearl look like good old MBW to me. On top of that the cg's are non-symmetric. The upper cg has been filed thinner than the bottom one.

  4. You should shoot with a tripod. Now you see red saturation on the watch dial and bezel, which comes from your hand (that's holding the camera). The first photo also reflecting some blue, which probably comes from your shirt.

You can use Photoshop to get rid of the saturated areas though. Use a lasso tool to surround the problem area and go to -> Image -> Adjustment -> Hue/saturation.

Other than that, the photos are good. Nice job with the light tent!

  5. bklm1234 is a Rolex rep specialist (US based) who has long and perfect track records from RWI and RG. So it was only natural that we wanted to have him onboard as well.

Many people might already be familiar with his wares and small modifications, but I will let him describe himself what he's offering and what he does.

I'm very happy that he has joined our collectors area.

  6. Some group shots I've taken over the years.

This is my current collection now, minus the YM that went to Taka. No new watches since January. I've promised myself to keep my collection at 8. So there's a space for one (now that the YM is gone). :D

  7. This watch has very good datewheel, but "21" and "31" aren't that great. Funny that "12" and "13" are ok though.

The numbers "3 and 1" are too far from eachother as you correctly noticed. My correct stack has better datewheel (same correct font but a bit thicker & lower numbers). It's always hit and miss with the reps. Not that this would bother me though.

Anyway... good eye Freddy, you're becoming a true GMT geek. :D

  8. I'm sorry guy's I just don't like it- Looks cheap to me

We always appreciate valued opinions from classy guy's (sic) like yourself. Especially in a thread where someone posts about his gift.

Most of the membership considers this particular YM a fairly nice rep. But thanks for setting the record straight.

  9. Thanks for the compliments guys!

The "Noob" GMT is indeed quite an amazing replica base. It's not as good otb rep as the black Noob Explorer II, but fully modded I'd say it's even better.

It needs a lot of mods, but making very good 16710 is still rather easy, and most importantly it's not expensive at all. The dial is excellent, rehaut is perfect (thickness and depth) and the date mag isn't too powerful. And I don't think the hand stack is such a big issue at all... I happily wear both of them (wrong or correct stack).

Haven't purchased any new watches in 6 months, I just enjoy these old ones, and getting them into nice condition is sweet. Thanks again Taka!

Gotta take a decent "studio shot" of the Coke today. :)

  10. If they're not doing more correct stacks there must be a reliability issue.

Andrew & Angus told me about this new movement (where date change follows the hour hand) months ago. They already postponed the release of this movement once (about 2 months ago). Perhaps it's not 100% ready yet, and we'll see more of them later?

I never had any problem wearing the wrong hand stacks though. They never have any kind of issues.

  11. Joshua told me there are no more correct handstack movement. There are about 100 for him and Andrew only and that is it.

More gmt II with ceramic bezel are comming with hour hand adjustable.

The correct hand stack movement is hour hand adjustable. The wrong hand stack movement has an adjustable GMT hand.
