  1. Takashi did amazing job with my wrong hand stack GMT, and now I finally have both GMT's back home.

    Takashi did:

    -Fixed damaged stem

-Swapped a thinner GMT hand with smaller triangle (from the "Retro" version)

    -Genuine crown & tube

    -Polished the rehaut

    -Serviced the movement

I put the bracelet and bezel back together, and I'm wearing it now. Sorry for the low quality & dirty photos, didn't have enough light.

Rehaut is nice, deep and shiny. Insert is flush with the bezel and the crystal height is perfect.

Thanks also to Joshua (for the extra GMT hand) and JustAsGood for the gen crown & tube!

  2. @freddy: chs GMT's can be found occasionally through member trades. Andrew offers this same fine rep model with wrong hand stack now. It needs quite a few mods but it has the good dial and thin, long GMT hand just like mine. Very nice.

@robert: I remember that El Primero. I recall it was offered as a quartz. I wish they'd make a 7750 version, it's a sweet watch!

  3. As I recall, the GMT gear on those was wonky, and some members broke in servicing... mine has been working fine.

I've had 4 correct hand stack ETAs.

The issue with this movement is the occasionally slipping hour hand, which is due to badly constructed transfer gear/fork. But there's a weird fix that always works, learned it from bklm1234. I wrote about the fix previously in this thread.

My 3 out of 4 have been perfect though, and the fourth one is working perfectly too (after this weird patent fix).

But then again, supposedly this correct hand stack movement is brand new and more reliable. We're much wiser after Lani gets his watch.

  4. This is a little off topic but has this forum and other forums had a turn towards Rollies again.

It seemed to be Panerai Panerai Panerai was the only word going around but now every one is talking rollies again.

In fact I myself have now got 3 Noob rollies in my collection.

This is not a complaint just an observation. And it also seems that even non rollies fans are considering this new GMT ceramic watch.

Yeah I agree. I think it the "huge watch trend" might have passed a little bit, and membership is moving towards the standard sizes again.

Just a guess though. For me the 40-42mm is the perfect watch size.

  5. Bad luck with the insert. I never had issues with mine. Here's another (potentially) good insert seller. Actually this insert has the Sans Serif font and the numbers are a bit smaller. Good price.

PS: The crown guards are ridiculously easy to trim. Just unscrew the crown to the winding position, take off the bezel (or protect it with tape). Then take a very thin jeweler's file and file the bottoms straight. Look at gen pics and see how they're shaped. You simply can't f*ck it up, because you don't have to reshape them or anything. The bottoms only need to be "straightened"... and you don't even have to take off the crown. Good luck!

If you're still unsure about this, I can make a picture of the procedure.

  6. I heard the first batch is already sold out at Perfect Clones & Trustytime.

Now... the veteran rep buyers sit back and wait for the v2, with thick bezel numbers, wrong engraving and ALL OTHER FLAWS FIXED!!! :D

    (in my dreams)

I just wear my modded Pepsi and be happy with it. :)

  7. Great watch. The ladies' reps have been good as well.

Unfortunately most of the current offerings have some sort of diamond/mop dial. Good if your wife likes extreme bling, but I think the diamonds are a bit too much. The plain two-tone version with Roman numerals and white dial is my favorite.

However, this one from SilixPrime isn't way overboard despite the diamonds.

These are quartz & sapphire models from Paul. $109 doesn't sound too bad. Dunno how accurate they are, but they look fairly nice.

  8. What makes you think automatic reps are unreliable? I've owned over 40 reps with all kinds of automatic movements (Swiss, Asian) over the years, and I've yet to have one die on me.

About that TAG Link... it's a nice rep but it's a fantasy watch. That particular looker comes only as automatic (gen).

But then again who really knows all the TAG models, quartz or auto. If you like that one, go for it! But then again if you want to check the alternatives before your purchase, you'd better read THIS.

  9. The watch in the Perfect Clones site picture has a good case, crown and rehaut thickness. That would be really nice if it had lugholes, non-sels and proper OYSTER PERPETUAL dial print.

The watch received is a wok. Probably the same dial but different base watch altogether.
