  1. SM 300 also has similarities with the black Planet Ocean. If you look at the case, lugs, dial and crown design you clearly see it.

Vintages are the hot topic nowadays so this is intentional from Omega (when they designed PO) I'm sure.

  2. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the pictures, they're beautiful.

The watch is near perfect too, very impressive rep. The pearl is the only giveaway. It's ok but not quite like the genuine.

  3. I agree 100% with Eunomians. They show no respect to their own history and customers... and vintage collectors.

For me Rolex means history. High quality stainless steel tool watches that are masculine and handsome. In the old days their watches were even reasonably priced.

The classic Sub/SD/Exp/GMT/Daytona line is still the #1 in the sports watch line but Omega is catching up them soon. The new PO chronograph was impressive and this is all Rolex can come up with: Horrible, tasteless, diamond wrapped gay watches like this.

    6-0 to Omega in Basel.

  4. I recently got a watch from Andrew, it is a really nice ROlex GMTII two tone black bezel. The only obvious flaw I can see when comparing to a genuine one is that on the bracelet where it attaches to the watch, there are no holes to in the bracelet where you would usually "push" with a tool to remove the bracelet. Can you mod this watch to have these holes and release the bracelet the way the genuine one does?

Other than that, it looks real good when compared to a genuine Roles.

If the watch is a rep model of the current GMT Master II there should be no lugholes. Genuine Rolex watches post-2001 models (I recall) don't have the lug holes.

So your rep is correct in that sense.

  5. At the risk of offending someone, I believe their appeal lies in the 'more is better' mindset. The latest lunacy is the Omega Planet Oceans that have appeared with chronos. Obviously appealing to public demand, but a 'divers' watch with chronos makes about as much functional sense as a under-water trouser press.

I like chronographs mainly for their looks, not for functionality. That's why I wouldn't have a problem with visually good (and reliable) chrono rep with frozen stopwatch (if the price were good). At least over those horrid date/calendar chronos that get produced. Some people might disagree.

If you REALLY like some watch model (like Navitimer) of course you should buy the 7750 version and get it serviced. But there are lots of models that I could buy just for fun... if the price were around $100.

That was actually the whole point of my original post. We all have different personal preferences. Perhaps a average Joe would look at the chronograph watch differently. I first look at the subdial spacing, correctly centered stopwatch and subregisters. Maybe the average guy would just be satisfied if the pushers do at least *something*... like change date or month in the false calendar subdials. And besides, many of those chronos have the stopwatch hand running as a big seconds hand (which is a major no-no for me).

But you're absolutely correct: very few people use the "special" options in their watches. They are there just for looks 99% of the time.
