  1. It's as good as the gen! My friend have the Gen and the look and feel is the same! It's been holding up well in salt water and the humid climate of Asia! Go for it!
  2. I know! One member here and over at RWI told me where to find them, but maybe they were close that day.....or maybe permanently! Hey Mate! You got that right! @donpedro & Samurai, last Dec. I tested 6 watches and the ROO Safari was one of them that passed the 10ATM test, you can read it here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/Year-s-Eve-Water...023#entry588023 Hey Cool! I having a blast, Dude! 3 more weeks to go! Still plenty of water dippings to do! I'll update! Thanks all for reading! I thought all the ROO lovers would appreciate the info! This watch is definitely my new all around watch! Hala Bira! as the Filipinos would say!
  3. Finally got a chance to set down on an Internet Cafe in the Philippines, and checked in with you guys! It has been a blast so far! Been to Bangkok (forget MBK, all they have are crappy clones....spent a couple of hours scouting the place, but can't find anything descent! My Tuktuk driver even brought me to a supposedly "the best" dealer he knows, but it was crap!) and Pattaya (not real much of a beach resort anymore!) then Palau Island and now here in the Phil. and in one of their Island (Palawan) known for beautiful coral reefs and wreck diving and beautiful amazing beaches.......this place is HEAVEN!!! I have three more Islands to visit, all known as good dive sites, so we'll see..........anyways, to the watch: I picked my AP ROO Safari for this trip to see how good it really is to withstand the rigors of Island Life, constant traveling, being in the water (diving/snorkling/body boarding) most of the time or just bumming out on the beach! These watch is AMAZING........it's still ticking, keeps good time (haven't touch the crown since I left the US) and loves the water! SO, some pictures to share: MBK: Pattaya: .........a peek! El Nido, Palawan, Phil........Sunset: El Nido Beach: Coco Loco Island:
  4. Let me know if you want an AP BAND.....I have a few to sell!
  5. Thanks all for the input! Got the good word today that it finally showed up! Whew! We got one happy camper!
  6. I've sold about 14 watches so far and shipped all over the world and about 5 to Canada and the last one haven't shown up yet at one of our member's address! It was payed via PP and I shipped it using PP via USPS Priority Mail on Dec. 22 '08 and.....nothing! Tracking said it was picked up for delivery, but nothing else! I called them today and all I got from there CS is.... "no further information!" Nobody recieved it or if Canadian Customs is holding it! The poor member have been waiting for it since, and I feel so bad for him because this is his first REP........I think! Canadian Brothers, any Idea???? BTW: It was shipped to Moncton New Brunswick! Thanks! Hike
  7. Thanks The Zigmeister! Keep up the good work and more power to you! Hike
  8. I saw in one of those US Gossip Magazine last week while in my Chiro's Clinic having my left ankle fixed the son (adopted) of Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise waring a PAM and also Mathew McConaughey!
  9. Same here? I have two of them! Did you buy it from our dealers here? BTW: The Zigmeister is in Canada, Don't call him an American, he might get offended ! !
  10. Here's the Rose Gold Version: This is a very classy watch! I were mine with formal clothes!
  11. Get the rubber, it's very comfortable! Very close to the GEN!
  12. @Polynomial, Congratulations!!!! Please PM me your address and I'll mail you the PAM silicone bracelet tomorrow! The rest, thanks a lot guys for playing! The reason why I had them tested: Besides having plenty of time last New Year's Eve, I wanted to pick two REPS to take with me next week diving in Thailand, Palau and the Philippines! Nothing major, maybe around 80-100ft at the most! Just mostly coral diving and lots of snorkling! The Test: The Portescap system: the watch is placed on a platform inside a vacuum chamber. The chamber is then evacuated of all air and a pointer is lowered until it touches the glass of the watch; the air in the watch is now at a higher pressure than that in the chamber (air pressue vs vacuum) and it will once again try to escape if it does so the case will suddenly contract as the pressure equalise and this will be registered on a micrometer guage connected to the pointer touching the glass. The Device/Machine Tester: Testing pressure range from -0.7 up to 10 bar Automatic test start when closing the chamber Auto-positioning of the watch during the test Automatic pressure chamber leak test Safe locking system during vacuum test Automatic air evacuation upon power loss Extremely simple operation and programming 10 programmable single and double tests (factory pre-set) Operates with a compressor or air installation Supply voltage: 90 - 270 volt AC 50/60 Hz Max. watch dimension: Height 40mm, Diameter 60 mm Multi-lingual printer interface Cost of test: US$15/watch... the WS was nice enough to fix the damaged at no cost!!! Results: All the four watches (AP ROO SAFARI, PAM243/SeaDweller/Chopard MM GTXL LE) passed the 10Bar/ATM maximum that the tester would do! This was very impressive for the Safari and the Chopard MM considering that they are Chronos! Failed watches: MBW AP Roo Black Themes: @7BARS/ATM, the tester shut off and started decompressing. When the WS opened the device, we immediately saw the problem, the CRYSTAL POPPED out and was setting halfway across the right side of the bezel! This was very disappointing! Of all the six watches, I had high hopes for this model. It was claimed that this watch was used by the first owner diving in Thailand......., but you never know! A lot of factors could have affected this watch! One of them is shipping across the world! The WS pressed back the crystal, but won't perform the test again! He was worried that the damage could get worst.......... PAM113: @2BARS/ATM, the tester shut off and started decompressing. When the WS opened the device, we didn't see anything visibly wrong with the watch! He and I checked the crown, but couldn't find anything wrong with it! It was tightly pressed by the CG Lever when it was engaged! WS opened the caseback and checked the O-ring, but that, too was perfect! So I told him not to worry about it and I'll check it when I get home........which I did! Now at home, I only have the Offrei Rubber ball (yellow) to open my watches, which I use to open the 113 and soon realized that the glass part in the center of the caseback was rotating when I turn the ball! That, for me explains the leakage problem! Solutions????? I need your opinion/tips here, Guys! What do you think should be done to: - the popped crystal of the MBW ROO??? - the loose caseback crystal of the 113? BTW: I pressed the caseback crystal (crude way by putting the watch face down on the carpet flloor and using a twist cap from a liter bottle placed on top of the caseback crystal and then a small cutting board and then pound it with a small mallet!!!!) When that was done, I turn on the kitchen faucet to full force and just about right warm temperature and put the watch underneath, casdeback facing the water for about 5 mins or until the sink was full! After that, I left the watch submerged in the sink for another 20 mins.........removed it and wipe it dry......didn't see any condensation, so I put it outside on the porch (10F temp) for about 10 mins and still didn't see any condensation! The watch is still running perfectly fine! Although I don't think I'll take it diving! Which one am I taking???? Not completely decided yet, but inclining towards the Safari and the PAM243 as a backup! I'll let you guys know before I leave! Again, thanks to everyone who participated! HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!! Cheers! HIKE

  18. Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn...nah! Try again 'ya all! Wow, this is getting interesting!.........and fun! Edited just to add: Some of you are getting one of each right! You just need to pair them together! 19. Here's to a healthy New Year!...........but before that.................................. I'm gonna drink, smoke and try all the goodies that Thailand, Palau, and the Philippines have to offer in two weeks! Six weeks of partying......diving......tanning...........yeah! i HOPE i have enough left to slug thru the rest of 2009!
  20. APROOs have screw down crowns! Try again, Dude! Sorry my friend! Hope you had a great NY eve celebration! Try gain! Hey cool! How was your celebration? Try again, Dude! Nope! Try again! Not! Try again! Common guy's, keep it comin! SOme of the results surprised me, too! One of the watches that failed had a dramatic result! It surprised me and the WS! We both agreed on what we thought is the weak point on the other one!
  21. corgi........I love you. man! That's sweet! Member #3999 & mwah #4000....I love it! Try again! You, too Dude! Try again!
  22. Plenty of time to burn before the New Year comes, I went running, lifted weights, return and exchange some gifts and yet I still have plenty of time to burn, so what a better way I thought to spend the last few hours of free time I have in the old year but to visit my GEN watchsmith to perform a WATER RESISTANCE TEST ON THESE SIX COLLECTION: I decided to go all out and asked the WS to do a 10Bar - 10ATM - 100Meters - 330ft test since most watches claim this resistance. Listed are the watches and what I performed on them before the test: TOP ROW: - PAM113: installed new rubber o-rings on caseback cover and crown - MBW AP ROO Black Themes sec@9: greased rubber gasket - Joshua's AP ROO Safari with black rubber strap: greased rubber gasket BOTTOM ROW: - Joshua's SD with Asian ETA: installed new rubber o-rings on caseback cover, tube and crown - Chopard MM GTXL LE: none done, as is from subzero1 - Joshua's PAM 243: installed new rubber o-rings on caseback cover and crown 4 PASSED 2 FAILED So for the New Year, guess which two failed........the person who picks the correct two, I will send a free PAM Blue Rubber Bracelet like the one that wheaton sells! Not that much, but it should be good enough to play the guessing game for the New Year! Thanks for playing!
